Dicksmith meets my expectations

| January 16, 2012

The other day, I put in the comments that I was waiting for dicksmith to write a post at VetVoice before I commented on Allen West’s statement about the urination video and, like clockwork, dicksmith couldn’t resist calling the former Lieutenant Colonel a “war criminal”.

I’ve never made a secret about how I feel about war criminal Allen West, a disgraced former military commander who supervised and participated in the savage torture of an Iraqi detainee. So when I read a statement like the one above from Allen West, as someone who has been shot at by the Taliban I have to respond.

“Savage torture”? Really? LTC West merely fired a handgun in proximity to a captured prisoner (into a clearing barrel) to make that prisoner think he was being executed, which induced the prisoner to give actionable intelligence related to a planned ambush on LTC West’s troops. West’s commander decided that the incident warranted only non-judicial punishment and West was fined $5000, then he retired. So that’s “savage torture” in dicksmith’s world.

So Allen West made the following statement in regards to the Marines’ video;

As for everyone else, unless you have been shot at by the Taliban, shut your mouth, war is hell.

West prefaced that statement with a recommendation that the Marines be punished with non-judicial punishment. His statement above was meant to quell the media frenzy which swirled around the video – not excuse the behavior. Taken in it’s entirety with out selective editing, West meant for his statement to admit the seriousness of the crime, but also to end the liberal hand-wringing about how we’re creating more terrorists and making the troops less safe.

dicksmith concludes;

I have been shot at by the Taliban, Congressman West. And it doesn’t mean I’m okay with what these Marines did or that they should get just a slap on wrist. How about this for a new rule:
Unless you haven’t been charged with abusing detainees, shut your mouth. War is hell, but that doesn’t give anyone the excuse to act like the enemy.

West certainly didn’t say it was alright to abuse the bodies of our dead enemies, and he was telling the media to shut up and to quit making this a bigger story than it should be, if dicksmith didn’t understand that, he shouldn’t be putting his paper-thin, mud puddle-deep intellect as analysis on the internet.

When was he shot at by the Taliban? I must’ve missed that. Honestly I wish we had MORE Allen Wests.

  2. bcousins says:

War is hell, but we all know what they say about combat. Next time, guys, pee on the cameraman first.

  3. Frank says:

I won’t judge West or those Marines, even though my “experience” was during the 70s.

Politicians have no business trying to run a war – they get people killed while they sit in their offices diddling their aides.

  4. Anonymous says:

@2 I agree with that statement. We’re sometimes our own worst enemy.

  5. Doc Bailey says:

@3: I think that’s the problem with the uproar about this incident. Its the politicians driving it. West, for the office he holds is not a politician

This whole incident baffles me. For instance, in the Army it’s perfectly acceptable to have sex with another man. Liberals promoted the very idea. But you give a dude a golden shower and that crosses the line?

  7. B'emet Or says:

@6 BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH no one has said it better…..period.

  8. CI says:

@6 – I’m baffled that you somehow equate sexual orientation with desecrating the dead.

  9. B'emet Or says:

@8 uh dude, golden shower and teh ghey? pull your head out and get a sense of humor.

  10. NHSparky says:

“Savage torture”? I wonder what he’d think of a shellback ceremony.

Hell Sparky try joining a fraternity. Being a pledge sucks and it lasts for 3-4 months. Probably make Dick cry like a bitch.

  12. ROS says:

    He is such a…………dick.

So… a marine can shoot, burn, stab, choke, explode, slice, and crush an enemy to kill him. Then, after he’s dead, the marine can call an airstrike on the corpse, or leave the corpse rotting in place so the buzzards and feral dogs can eat him… but pissing on it is a war crime?

Since when is pissing on a corpse considered more of an offense than killing the person in the first place? Their chain should have just made them stand tall- lose a stripe, polish tanks with toothbrushes, etc. and then be done with it. Now, because of all the bullshit hype this story has gotten, those guys are probably staring at some heavy shit for a relatively minor break in discipline.

The most damaging phrase to come down the road in my 71 laps around the sun.
Polical Correctness sez, plain and simple- “The truth might hurt, so say something nice.”
    It’s dangerous in the home,
    it’s dangerous in the neighborhood,
    it’s dangerous in politics,
    and it’s deadly in battle.
