If Matthis says so, it must be true

| March 9, 2012 | 34 Comments

Those vacuous hypocrites at Russia TV feature the equally vacuous hypocrite, Matthis on a few minutes of their reportage about how the US needs a war to fuel our economy;

Of course, because it doesn’t undermine their credibility a whit, they call him an Iraq War veteran, even though he spent a year in hiding trying to prevent that precise label.

For any new viewers, Matthis avoided his recall to active duty after serving honorably in Japan and Germany for five years as a military journalist. He refused to deploy, so refusing to deploy to Iraq doesn’t make him an Iraq War veteran.

His little comment about streamers on the Army’s colors; I’m not sure if his number (185) is correct, but he claims there’s one streamer for each war the Army has been in and that’s not exactly true either (surprise) – the streamers represent campaigns, not separate wars. So that kinda shoots down his little vacuous point about the US participating in a war every year since it’s founding.

And so, because Matthis says that we have a vested interest in continuing world wide wars, it must be true. It’s funny, not much, that the people we end up fighting are usually armed with Russian-made weapons like the AK47 and AK74, RPGs, so it’s more than a little disingenuous of Russia TV to make these empty charges without taking a gander at themselves in the mirror.

Thanks to a ninja for the link.

It looks more and more like a meth-head. How can one tell when Methis is lying? His lips move.

  2. Old Trooper says:

This fart huffing homo can’t put a coherent sentence together to save his butt.

  3. Jacobite says:

Gawd it seems like a waste of effort to disprove this frickin idiot anymore.

If by ‘war’ we mean a formal declaration of war, we as a nation have been involved in 5. The War of 1812, the Mexican American War, the Spanish American War, World War I, and World War II.

If we are talking about military engagements simply authorized by Congress we can add 7 more. The Quasi-War, the first and second Barbary Wars, mucking about in the Russian Civil War, Vietnam, the war in Afghanistan, and the Iraq war.

If we want to include actions that the UN security council sanctioned first, and that the US authorized funding for and was involved in, we can add an additional 7. The Korean War, Lebanon in the 70s and 80s, the Gulf War, the Bosnian War, the Liberian Civil War, the Haitian fiasco, and the intervention in Libya here recently.

There are of course the handful of wars fought here at home, such as the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and the Indian Wars, but those hardly qualify as ‘world wide’.

I’m sure this list is incomplete in some minor ways, but it’s largely inclusive. The US has NOT been in 185 individual wars in 200 years.

  4. Jacobite says:

And it occurs to me, how can war be both vital to our economy, and a damaging drain on it at the same time? Can’t have it both ways Libs.

  5. Trent says:

Per the Center for Military History, the US Army flag staff has 181 streamers currently attached to it. Those streamers are for campaigns and battles fought, not wars. For instance, there are 13 streamers for WW1, from Cambrai to Vittorio Veneto.

  6. NSOM says:

That picture of him is pretty priceless.

Who needs satirical photoshops when your friendly Putin propaganda outlet with provide you with actual meth-head-homeless-Jesus-with-phony-Iraq-vet-captioned pictures?

  7. Sponge says:

I’m just curious as to whether Mr. Chiroux has disowned this douchebag yet. He’s stood by his fatherly duties thus far, but the more Matthis drags his family name through the anti-American cesspools, how much more can he take?

  8. xbradtc says:

    O/T, Jonn,

Care to double check this guy’s SEAL status?

  9. Ann says:

Um, fish, seriously?! I’ve never seen a veteran with so much as a beta fish. Of course Matthis never saw combat so maybe fish are popular with cowardly habitual liars?

  10. Ann says:

Someone should let Russia TV know that the only reason we’re the primary defense spender is because nobody else is willing to pick up the slack that a smaller US military would leave. Then we get blamed for being evil meanies for not using our capabilities for Darfur, the Balkans, the Kony 2012 mess, or whatever other cause is currently trendy in Hollywood.

Matthis, you are so petrified of death by terrorism that you flat out refused to deploy unlike the other 95% of the military who honor their commitments.

  11. Jacobite says:

    Sponge,

Mr. Chiroux has frequently stated, here and in other places, that he in no way supports his son or his son’s actions, and hasn’t for a long, long time. I actually have a great deal of respect for the Sr. Chiroux and the public denunciations he has delivered against Matthis.

And yep, that picture is priceless!

  12. Ann says:

Why did they pick the most annoying sounding voice in the world to narrate their video clips? At least Diane Rehm’s is explainable by an illness, and it’s oddly soothing in it’s strangeness…

  13. Ann says:

@xbradtc If he wants his kid to have a Rutgers degree so badly then he should send him to goddamn Rutgers. I think it’s a good school, but if I was a UC Riverside student I wouldn’t whine about my degree not saying UC Berkeley.

  14. I took a few history classes in Kollege, but I can’t come up with 185 wars the US Army has been in….But the way he said it sounded so true…what a fantastic bullshitting piece of shite. His proper title should be :”An almost Iraq War Veteran, but too chicken shit to actually go and obtain an battle streamer.”

  15. UpNorth says:

“”An almost Iraq War Veteran, but too chicken shit to actually go and obtain an battle streamer”.
I wish I had the photoshop skilz to do that, CI Roller Dude. It’s a wish that someone would do it, so that TAH could use it every time Methis’ picture came up on a story.

  17. UpNorth says:

Adam_S, you’re the man. Jonn, that would make a great pic for any Methis story in the future.

  18. Jonn Lilyea says:

    Noted. Thanks, guys.

  19. Kevin says:

    @16 s/b “a” battle streamer

  20. Adam_S says:

Yeah I just copy and pasted, didn’t even notice.

  21. Yat Yas 1833 says:

I wouldn’t believe any thing that rat bastage sumbitch said even if he was reading out of the Good Book.

  22. Yat Yas 1833 says:

Ann, if things were otherwise, you’d be in more trouble than you knew what to do with. You young lady ROCK!

  23. Can I use his updated photo and proper title on F.B?

  24. Ann says:

@Yat TY, I can only hope my cantankerous snark will allow me to rule the world one day!

  25. Yat Yas 1833 says:

WHEN you reach that goal, I’ll be your most faithful servant!? : )

  26. Doc Bailey says:

Oh christ I can’t even begin to touch this one.

  27. NHSparky says:

In a serious vein, the old adage of the American economy needs Christmas and war might have been true (or at least relevant) perhaps 60 years ago when DoD spending accounted for 20 percent of GDP. Now that it accounts for less than 4 percent? Not so much.

And WTF is up with those chin pubes?

  28. ROS says:

I thought it made him look a bit Amish, myself, and hoped that he’d continue in that vein by shunning conveniences such as TV and electricity in the future. THAT would be fanTABulous.

  29. SmedleyButler says:

Why is Matthis “Posted in Iraq Veterans Against the War”?

  30. gordon says:

    Thank You Matthis!
I know very well about big corruption in USA und White House!

    Atheist!
