Poe and his pictures

| June 7, 2012 | 34 Comments

Once upon a time, a kid named Poe wanted to be a combat decorated soldier, so he made up some stories. A TV station in Texas decided to honor this hero (good on them for the effort) by doing a story. This is that video:

So, you have that story, which completely doesn’t match his records. Nonetheless, while we wait breathlessly for the medical records, what about those pictures?

Well, I just got the email transcript between him and America’s Got Talent. Why is this important? Because at least one of those photos we have already proven is not him.

Hi Tim,

As we talked, can you please send photos of you out in combat – with your weapon, in front of tank, etc. If you have any questions, feel free to call me.

Thanks!

But wait you say, I thought he didn’t remember anyone’s name? Shouldn’t those same Army Buddies be able to vouch for him? Only the wind knows. And maybe Batman.

Tim,
Are you in these photos?

Not a lot of nuance to answering that question is there? Like, um dude, is this you? And how does he respond?

Well, I don’t know, because it ends there with the AGT people. But you know what he does next? He sends the whole email string to WFAA TV so they can use the same EXACT pictures, the ones in that video above. And in responding to the guy at WFAA, he says:

Hi Craig,
These are the only pictures I have left because I went through a period when I got back that I didn’t want anything that reminded me of my time away. So I deleted almost every picture I had. I hope these work for you

Timothy Poe

Well, that is rather inconvenient. He only has these pictures, that may or may not be him [hint: they are not] and he deleted everything else.

Now, the reporter he sent those to has specifically told someone I know that he never once told him (the reporter) that these pictures weren’t him.

Now I ask you, who the hell sends pictures to a TV station of people other than themselves? You think I wouldn’t like pictures of David Beckham or something instead of my own ugly mug? Dammit people, I look like Shrek. But who sends another persons DoD pictures to a TV station?

Riddle me that!!!!!

All his pictures all stolen. Surprise, surprise.

I just don’t get this at all. He did deploy. He is a vet. He did serve. So many people don’t even do that. Why lie, assuming it is true. Have we really reached a point where just being a “war” veteran isn’t enough. Do you really need to go that extra mile? Tragic, in my opinion, as this demeans all those did serve and get wounded in battle as well as all those in the uniform. Makes people have to question what you did or didn’t go. I hate liars. (assuming this is true).

0311-good stuff (I, for one, did not even know that there was such a feature on Google).

  7. Andy Kravetz says:

0311, thanks for the tip. Media member here. I didn’t know you could do that but then again, my wife is the techie. Good to know a grunt is out front.

And 68W, when I was back in college, I was trying to get in as a Medic. I see you are a 68W. I assume you were a medic. It was known as 91W back when I was trying to get in.

  8. 68W58 says:

Andy-yes, started as 91B, transitioned to 91W and then finally 68W. It’s the best job in the Army.

  9. Andy Kravetz says:

68W, yeah, I know. Tried and Tried to get in. Was an EMT but well, got as far as the medical eval to enlist and they found a few things the Army didn’t like so couldn’t join up. Alas. Still, always have love for the 91W and now 68W.

  10. Greyhawk says:

Other than the staged interview scene, not much limp OR stutter in those on-course shots. Must be some kind of f$%^ng golf-related miracle.

  11. Greyhawk says:

(Golf courses would go out of business if they banned all liars…. but maybe they could make a by-name exception here.)

  12. ScalpelShepherd says:

Fuck this piece of shit. I fucking hate him. He steals even the simple emotional distress some of us real vets have regarding our pictures and what they represent/remind us of. Goddamn him.

  13. The Sniper says:

Did anyone else notice that he pointed out the “bullet wound” in his leg/arm/whatever part of his useless body it is? How the hell does he explain THAT lie???

  14. Nancy says:

They need to put him back on AGT and tar and feather his @$$ in public….. If not more

  15. ScalpelShepherd says:

@13 I wouldn’t be surprised if numbnutz self-inflicted that wound.

  16. Rodrez says:

Dont worry …the picture sent was only a mistake. Tim doesnt lie…ever /sarcasm http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5h3r6kBbTEWzm38OnPbEOxq10N4EQ?docId=a987fed2cf144fd890e02b6b160c7ef1

  17. TSO says:

Rodrez- This may be my favorite article because he is once again arguing with himself. He said earlier he deleted everything because he doesn’t want to relive the day. Fair enough, I think he is lying, but so be it. And now his fiance says he downloads military stuff all the time?

If I wanted to forget something (Ocho Cinco’s time with the Patriots for instance) why the hell would I download pictures of him?

  18. Rodrez says:

Exactly! I wanna see this guy fry and I wont stop spreading information (especially from your site) until its fully out.

  19. Doug Sterner says:

Don’t piss of the EX – she just might go on “Inside Edition” and tell her side of things: http://www.insideedition.com/news/8346/ex-wife-of-sgt-tim-poe-speaks-out-about-accusations.aspx

  20. OWB says:

@ #16: Somewhere around here someone who knew about that leg wound said that it was a puncture wound from the kickstand of a motorcycle. No independant knowledge of the varacity of the report, and not planning to search through all this to find it! ;)

  21. 0311 says:

his fiance is either the most gullible person alive or she is in on it and just lying to cover his ass. either way, I would love to hear her explanation for the other photos he stole. I suppose they were all just mistakes too?

  22. Marine_7002 says:

You can also use Tineye http://www.tineye.com/ to do reverse search on photos on line, either by uploading the image itself or entering the URL that the photo is shown on.

  23. Doug Sterner says:

WE ALL OWE a bit “Thank you” to the team at TAH. I’ve seen hundreds of these kinds of things and they usually get a quick news mention and are gone before the true impact of such Stolen Valor sinks in. Same would have been true here…a story here or there that Poe’s claim had been questioned…then he’s forgotton to re-emerge years later to continue the charade.
DIDN’T happen this time…Poe is all over the News despite AGT’s silence. And we owe it to you folks here at TAH for being doggedly determined to protect the integrity of our REAL wounded warriors by weeding out the trash.
    Thanks Tim, John…ALL of YOU.

I honestly don’t think he tried to lie to gain anything out of it. I think this guy is genuinely mentally fooocked in his head and he truly believed what happened really happened. IF and thats a huge IF he was really injured in combat then get this guy to the VA and get him some real fucking therapy. People want to automatically put this guy on a pitch fork and burn him alive but we all don’t know what is really going on in this guys head. Maybe he really thought those pics were of him. Who knows. Before we criticize a vet for making really fucking dumb mistake lets get the facts first.

  25. kp says:

@25- How many facts do you need?

  26. Dano says:

He was lucky up to to now. Amazing to deep down inside know that your full of shit and to keep going. So I hope the media apologizes, this fuck is made to apologize and a real injured front line Veteran is then given the proper credit that this fucko stole. We have them here in Canada also. TAH Rocks and good job on the proper exposure again on exposing a fake, in this case an embelishing fuck tard.

  27. Marine_7002 says:

@25 Really? You think that Poe may have thought that that was really himself in the photo? By what stretch of the imagination? The photo was taken in 2006. Poe was deployed in 2009. As Ricky used to say to Lucy, “Please ‘splain dat” since you seem to feel that you can read his mind.

  28. Judy says:

What a sicko… We sat there watching him and cried.. CON MAN I would rather have him steal my money than my heart..

  29. streetsweeper says:

Haven’t seen if anyone found this but, Howard Stern took to the air on his Sirus radio program. I for one am willing to bet, Howard might roast Poe’s ass big time….

  30. Anonymous says:

@Marine_7002 please don’t get it wrong I’m no trying to defend his lying ass. All I’m trying to say is this guy needs his ass beat first then he needs some serious intensive mental help. Clearly he is disturbed.

  31. DLM says:

I say just turn him loose…in any VFW hall at any given time or place. Announce what this scum said and then leave. Lock the door on the way out if you’d like.

  32. Men of War MC says:

Pray to god, their souls, those whom we meet, face to face, whom embrace Stolen Valor.

  33. Ex-PH2 says:

OK, people, pay attention instead of going off the deep end. Timmy “Pinhead” Poe said he got HIT buy a grenade. He said he felt the blast. For pete’s sake, guys, if you’ve been in combat, you know as well as I do (and I’ve never been in combat) that if you get HIT with a grenade and it explodes, you generally get big chunks blown off of you. Right? Right? So, if Timmy “Pinhead” Poe got hit with a live grenade, how come he’s still walking on two legs? (Maybe he’s using his middle leg. What do I know?)

There are exceptions to that, and the most recent one is USMC CPL Winder Perez, who had a UXO RPG embedded in his right thigh back in January. The video of that is now floating around on the internet. Honk if you see it.

Look, when a military action is in the “hot zone” (big, ugly protests — think Vietnam), no one except the vets wants to be associated with it.

But if it’s a big deal, and vets and active duty peeps are praised and appreciated (Desert Storm, Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan and finally, Vietnam), every cockroach in the crawlspace is going to worm its way into the glow of the limelight, just to get a piece of that pie. That’s what is going with Timmy “Pinhead” Poe and every other looney-tune that claims a spot in the sun. The glory hounds always want a piece of the pie, even if they didn’t pay for it.
