Aden withdraws from Congressional race in Arkansas

| July 9, 2012 | 22 Comments

Yeah, this isn’t exactly how I wanted it turn out, but I’ll take it;

Ken Aden, Democratic Candidate for U.S. Congress from Arkansas’ Third Congressional District, on Monday morning announced his intent to withdraw from the race for United States Congress effective at 5 p.m. on Monday, July 9, 2012.
“Mr. Aden’s campaign has, via overnight mail, submitted the necessary notification prescribed by the Arkansas Code to withdraw from the race for U.S. Congress. A copy of this notification has been provided to the Democratic Party of Arkansas as well,” said Vince Leibowitz, spokesperson for the campaign.
Aden said he was exiting the race in order to spend more time with his family and to help ensure victory for Democrats across the state in November.
“Unfortunately, the ongoing saga related to my military records has created a tremendous distraction for our campaign, and I did not want this to have adverse consequences for Democrats across the district or anywhere else in the state,” Aden said.
“Additionally, as most of you know, I recently became a father for the first time, and I will be exiting this race in order to spend more time with my family,” he continued.
“I sincerely regret any difficulty that this situation has caused my fellow Democrats, my supporters, and staff. I will continue to remain a loyal Democrat and to my best to help Democrats in win in November,” he concluded.

It was simple, all he had to NOT do is lie, failing that he could have admitted the lie, but now he’s out and still not admitting that we were right all along after suffering the slings and arrows from his campaign. So he won’t be in Congress, I guess that’s something.

We are not done with him yet here in Arkansas. Don’t worry.

  2. Frank says:

Well, he WAS a lying bastard – he had every qualification necessary to become a politician.

  3. TSO says:

He’s still in the Tourney though, and he won’t have to campaign at all!

  4. Hondo says:

A takedown at 750+ miles. Nice work, Jonn.

“Unfortunately, the ongoing saga related to my military records has created a tremendous distraction for our campaign, and I did not want this to have adverse consequences for Democrats across the district or anywhere else in the state,” Aden said.

The “ongoing saga” was his doings!

    Drama queen phony.

    Fuck him.

  6. DR_BRETT says:

He said NOTHING (in the quotation) about regret for difficulties posed to HONORABLE US FORCES, active or retired or veteran .

  7. Old Tanker says:

    Dr Brett,

You noticed too….he apologized to Democrats but not fellow service members…friggen Blue Falcon…

  8. Marine_7002 says:

Extract from “How To Bail Out Of A Race While Saving the Maximum Amount Of Face” chapter in the the politician’s manual for conducting a campaign:

“When all else fails, throw the words “distraction” and “family” into your announcement as your excuses for bailing out.”

  9. Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

He should have taken the old ” I am sorry I mis-spoke regarding my records” Americans love to forgive mis-speaking (lying as we used to call it)….Clinton looked us in the eye and wagged a finger at us when he mis-spoke and folks still love him to this day…

If he’d of ‘fessed up to a little mis-speaking and even had a little wetness in his eyes he could have won the election hands down…

We love forgiving liars, drug addicts, adulterers….just look at how popular culture worships the j4goffs in Hollywood…no shame in being caught in a lie in America these days, a little sad face, a bullsh1t apology and voila all is forgiven with the general public…

  10. Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

Heck in Connecticut they’ll put you in the Senate for being a liar even if you don’t apologize…Aden just picked the wrong state…

No offense, just an observation — When cynicism is objectivity — things must be VERY bad .

  12. Andraste says:

I’d like to say congrats to Vince Leibowitz of The Dawn Group for becoming the latest nominee for a Harvard Business School Case study on Crisis Communications failure.

Vince deserves his own FAIL BLOG for his work with Aden, IMO.

  13. BK says:

My wife and children would punch me in the nuts if I pulled these kinds of shenanigans and then used them to bow out of a political race. I will take this as large a stain on their character as we all saw on his.

  14. PintoNag says:

Anybody hear any of that “…father for the first time…” stuff BEFORE his ‘military record mis-speaking’ took place?

So now he’s hiding behind a child?

What he needs to do, is stop digging.

  15. Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

@12 No worries, sometimes the best way to present your message is sarcasm underlined with a really heavy dose of cynicism…

People don’t always take a moment to step back and say “WTF, this is BS”, one thing that’s great about America is the generosity and trusting nature of the public…we are generous in our forgiving others of their faults and trusting that others are sincere when they apologize….we forget that sometimes the wolf pretends to be a sheep dog to get closer to the flock…of course these lying scoundrels have more in common with the parasitic members of the animal kingdom rather than the wolves…

  16. ROS says:

Thieves, liars, cowards, those who victimize children- he is all of these, and thus lower than a worm’s ass.

I predict he’ll be divorced before much longer.

  17. DR_BRETT says:

    No. 16:
No worries here — about this matter. As regards the rest of the world difficulties — I AM WORRIED !!

  18. DOL says:

David Randall, this POS former CSM in the Special Forces Qualification Course outed this liar. Special Forces brothers have a POSER site and we are over 2600 strong. Don’t be a POS Poser or we will out your ass ASAP. BTW, you think he will be returning the unused campaign donations he has collected?

  19. tangonine says:

Good riddance, shitbag. enjoy telling your lies to teenaged waitresses (the only group that’ll buy your shit)

  20. NHSparky says:

IOW, he found it easier to quit than admit the truth.

That, boys and girls, is someone who has no honor.
