Gary Sanford Raub; the homeless gnome

So I wonder how that commenter who learned her history from Hollywood feels now. See, you guys could have saved all of that time you spent in uniform and just spent it in theater houses and then wander the streets scoring free pot – because that’s what veterans do – well, that’s what hippies in Seattle think we do anyway.

Jeebus. “My momma used to say ‘stupid is as stupid does’….”
Forrest was pretty damned brilliant.

Another example of that well-known human subgroup saccus excrementum medacis. Sadly, they don’t seem all that rare any more.

Why am I not surprised?

Lifelong bum, liar, and murderer….just a regular civilian broken by living in the richest, most bountiful land in the world…none of his issues arise from military service…so this Hollywood story is based on pure bullsh1t like most of their stories…

I’m withholding judgment until the Cambodians release their POW records.

Hack, maybe we could ask the Khmer Rouge to come out of their hidey holes and take him back with them…permanently.
So, is anyone going to do PR with the newspapers on this piece of bull’s offal?

I picture this guy sitting under a bridge stroking his dime bag of weed and saying “my precious, my precious, gollum, gollum” over and over again.

Twist…it’s SEATTLE. Guys like him are a dime a dozen…or dimebags a dozen. Just check out Pioneer Square.

Well if you look and smell like some Yogi from India, it all must be true. I know it is true because I FEEL his energy and it is a positive GOOD ENERGY so he can not be fake. I do not care what the evidence says, I know in my heart he is a good person. There is know way to change a person like that, except maybe her good person murders her. Which happpens a lot.

To paraphrase Christina Applegate from “Anchorman’”:
Oh my God, he smells like a used diaper full of Indian food…

Did it ever occur to any of you that he IS a Veteran but not of a US military service? Stoor or not, he is clearly of the gnome family and may be a Veteran of the Gnome Militia (GM), a little known force that was based in Laos in 1970. This is not secret squirrel stuff, not in the usual sense, anyway. The GM was an all-volunteer outfit recruited heavily out of the Phillipines, Madagascar, and Rhode Island. Although the GM was, in fact, properly regarded as an enemy force in Cambodia initially, it later became an arm of the Khmer Rouge when Pol Pot assummed power in ’75. This probably explains how Yogi ultimately made it back to the states.

Could not take that NW BS anymore had to post this to the site:
“You mukalucks would believe anything, that POW story is strait BS and none of you Useful Idiots could not see it or him for what he is. Your enlightened thinking has you so full of crap your eyes are brown and can no longer see reality even when it is in front of you. Splattered blood usually means a lot of blood, not some nick from shaving. If he was such a great Native American, why could this great warrior who single handedly escaped from Cambodia(HAHAHAHAHA)not even fend for himself in America. REAL Warriors who pull off great achievements like that do not fold ever, that is why they are able to do them in the first place. Stop being fooled by Hollywoods BS idea of a Combat Vet, we are your Brothers, Sisters, Friends and Neighbors. Average Americans who are not crazy, lazy or stupid. We are a direct reflection of the American populace with the same success and failures as all. Except in one area, the failure of the American people to understand the truth about us, we are regular people, that is all.”

@14- How could the reporter not believe this;
“One day, Raub said, he was working in a rice paddy, when he saw a sharp rock in the water. He fell to his knees and stuffed the rock down his throat, he said. That night he used the rock to cut open the bamboo cage and escaped.”
October 30th, 2012 at 1:03 pm
Was there even wide spread use of bamboo cages holding POWs? From what I have read on the subject most of the POWs being held in the South where kept in huts that where in compounds.
October 30th, 2012 at 3:42 pm
@15 Sarcasm I love it, but maybe he was a pro at stuffing things down his throat and the rock would fit. Hell he thought everybody has the same body features clearly, he believed we all would swallow that story.

@16 Twist, yes, they were mostly kept out of sight indoors to keep aerial surveillance photo planes from finding them. There were several POW camps that were targeted for raids but every time a raid was set up, the search & rescue found an empty campsite.
There is a database of people still MIA from Vietnam, but it’s likely that many of them may never be found/identified because of the wildlife in the jungle over there. There were, and still are plenty of tigers in the bush that could take advantage of a wounded soldier, kill and consume him, and scatter his bones, not to mention crocodiles, Asian bears, poisonous and constrictor snakes, elephants and baboons, all of which would just as soon kill you as look at you.
My educated guess about Gary Glitter here is that he was probably a hippie protester who slippd through the cracks and when he got drafted, he went to one of the free clinics in Haigh-Ashbury and assumed himself a new persona.
