So, look at who we got to meet today…

Rick was definitely the nicest of the guys. I spoke with him very briefly, but he told me how it was still incredibly weird for him to be asked to sign T-Shirts (which he and the rest of them did for us) when just a few years ago no one knew who he was.
Everyone is having a great time, the Armed Forces Foundation and the Sands totally rock.

What????? You got to meet the Old Man and didn’t bring me nothin’?

The Old Man and Rick seems to be regular guys. Chumleigh (Sp?) is odd and the other fellow ( I honestly don’t recall his name) causes me to turn the channel. “So, whaddaya wanna do, my man?” Arrggghh.

No way! I’m so jealous.

They seem to be more honest than most people in their line of business! I have seen people come in and ask for a certain amount on something, and Rick give them more because they didn’t know how much it was really worth. Unlike the “Hard Core Pawn” people!

A Bro I served with was just there, Sam Cila doing some marathon. lost his arm to an IED in 05.

I watch the show and always find it amusing seeing these people get all huffy and upset because they didn’t get the price they wanted for their item.
Tough. If they don’t like it, they can go somewhere else, no one’s holding a gun to their head to sell it.
People seem to conveniently forget that the pawn shop is there to make a profit also. Some things they make a profit from. Others they lose, on numerous occasions on the show one of the guys paid much more than the item was worth.

Sorry to hear times are that bad that you had to pawn something…you know those guys never give you the top dollar.

Chumlee got taken on a fake Gibson mandolin for $1500…he was made to sit in front of the shop with said mandolin and collect donations.
Chum also got busted for going ganster with a Klingon sword and damaging merchandise in the warehouse

The guy knows his precious metals though, current rates & negotiate an acceptable value.

I guess that my having given my last TV away some 5 or so years ago has protected me from knowing who the principles are in the photo. I didn’t recognize them as Veteran heroes, then in reading the comments, I take it they are tv personalities.

All I want to know, away from the show & camera, is Chumlee (sp?) a regular guy with semi-normal intelligence? Or is he as dumb and doofus as he looks on the show?
December 7th, 2012 at 10:52 am
Rick seems pretty smart. He’s knowledgeable about a lot of things that interest me (guns, American history, etc.)
I think Chum is putting on an act. If he were that incompetent, he would have been elected to Congress by now.
