Hasan wants death penalty off table

| January 25, 2013 | 44 Comments

The Fort Hood murderer, Nidal Hasan says he wants to plead guilty to 13 counts of murder, but Army rules don’t allow a judge to accept a guilty plea in a capital case, so his lawyers want the newest judge to consider removing the death penalty from her little bag of tools, according to the Associated Press;

If the death sentence is removed, Hasan’s punishment would be life without parole – which he already faces if convicted of the 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in the 2009 attack on the Texas Army post.

The date for his long-delayed trial has not been set, but pretrial hearings are scheduled Wednesday through Friday so the new military judge, Col. Tara Osborn, can reconsider several defense requests previously rejected by the former judge.

Although I oppose the death penalty mostly, Hasan certainly deserves it more than most criminals. However, the Army hasn’t put anyone to death since John Bennet was hanged in 1961 for the rape and attempted murder of an 11-year-old Austrian girl. The last soldier who was ordered executed was Ronald Gray who was convicted of two murders, his death warrant was signed by President GW Bush, but his sentence was stayed. There are five other people currently on death row, and it’s not very likely that Hasan will join them anyway, and he certainly won’t live long enough to execute him. I say throw out the death penalty and let him rot in his adult diapers in a cell somewhere – he ain’t going no where.

I know that for religious purposes, a muslim can’t be fed pork, but I wonder what would happen if you fed pork a muslim…

  2. Sgt Awesome says:

Sorry but I’d prefer not to pay the ungodly fees to keep his ass alive for the next 50 years. 1 bullet to his liver, 1 to each knee and elbow, and then 1 bullet to his favorite kidney for good luck and leave him out in a ditch somewhere. Fuck that terrorist pile of shit.

  3. BruteForce says:

I can only hope that when they finally toss his fat-ass into prison that they put him in a ward chock-full of boys from Texas..

  4. USMCE8Ret says:

I’m go with what Sgt Awesome said. Taxpayers have already spent too much money defending his worthless ass, and the time spent on this case has been too much as well.

    Martyr his fuckin’ ass already.

  5. Chip@NASA says:

Osama Bin Laden Him…..slide him down a gangplank of rusty sharp metal into the ocean….while alive.. and wave bye bye to him as the ship chugs away.

  6. SJ says:

The death penalty should have been carried out on the same day, right in front of the building. It’s not like there is any doubt he done it is there?

  7. Hondo says:

Have to disagree, Jonn. What Hassan did is far worse than what any of the other 5 awaiting execution did (with the possible exception of Akbar). He richly deserves an early opportunity to meet Shaytan.

I don’t see the additional cost being significantly greater if we try him with the death penalty on the table, either. And I really hate the idea of giving in to terrorists in any way. Taking the death penalty off the table would IMO be doing that.

Don’t suppose the SCOTUS would approve an air-drop w/o parachute into the Kilauea crater as an acceptable method of execution, though.

  8. Nik says:

Hasan wants death penalty off table

Yah…and there’s 13 families that want their loved ones back.

I say if he can make that happen, we go ahead and give him what he wants.

  9. Twist says:

Strand him on some rock in the middle of the ocean without food or water and leave him to rot.

  10. Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

They can take the death penalty off the table along with his dead body….

  11. Old Trooper says:

While I, too, am not a big proponent of the death penalty, for many reasons, in this case i think it should most definitely be not only on the table, but slapping him in the mug. Some people just need killin’.

  12. cato says:

Political correctness has consumed the military judicial system as well as the civilian courts. These bed wetters will give him life without parole. Waste of time, waste of resources and waste of money.

Later obama will trade this POS for a low level muslim brotherhood CIA operative in Egypt.

  13. PintoNag says:

Because of his condition, someone has to feed him, wash him, and wipe his nasty ass for the rest of the time he wastes air. Whoever has to do this will do it because that’s their job, but they will do it knowing he’s the enemy and he murdered military personnel. I don’t care what Hasan wants; the people who have to look that slime in the face every day need to be relieved of that indignity, that insult forced upon them by their current duty. Hasan needs to die. Period.

  14. MAJMike says:

Where’s the doubt about his crime? This has taken way too long and justice for the victims has been completely denied.

No need for exotic means of execution, just a .45ACP to the back of the head and bury the body with a ham sandwich in his mouth. I’ll do the deed free of charge.

  15. cato says:

    MAJMike;

    I’ll volunteer to:

Make the ham sandwich, extra ham.
    Police your brass.
Drag and dispose of the body at the landfill.
And buy the first round of drinks for the celebration.

  16. 2/17 Air Cav says:

So, he asks to plead guilty knowing that the plea is barred in military capital cases and then asks for the possible penalty of death to be shelved? That’s rather odd, don’t you think? He should welcome death. He was a good little terrorist and is slated to receive Allah’s rewards. Besides, isn’t that in keeping with the Muslim’s notion of justice? What is he, a weekend Muslim?

  17. 2/17 Air Cav says:

Now, having said that, I well appreciate that he deserved to be punished here and for etenity for what he did. The question is whether death exacts that punishment. If he pleaded to die, would you all agree that he should? Or would you say, “Screw him. Make him suffer locked away in prison.” The worst punishment on earth is being isolated from fellow human beings and isolated he would be. Yes, it would cost large sums to keep him but sometimes it’s worth it. Hell, look at the imprisonment of Nazi war criminals following WW II. What did they end up with? One guy in an entire prison.

  18. Nik says:

He was a good little terrorist and is slated to receive Allah’s rewards. Besides, isn’t that in keeping with the Muslim’s notion of justice? What is he, a weekend Muslim?

Good point. Doesn’t he have 72 virgins waiting? It’s kinda rude to keep a lady waiting, isn’t it?

Or would you say, “Screw him. Make him suffer locked away in prison.”

Fair question. My answer might well be “Screw him. Make him suffer locked away in prison.” I don’t see any real contradiction in that. I just don’t think he should ever get anything he wants again.

However, if he does serve life, he should be on a strict diet of bacon, pork loins, pork sausage, etc for the duration of his incarceration.

  19. SJ says:

I’d rather he be hanged but, if not, put him in a cell with Manning and make Manning wipe his ass for the rest of their lives.

  20. MAJMike says:

@Cato #15: This could be the start of a beautiful freindship.

  21. A Proud Infidel says:

Better yet, since Hasan is parapalegic, why not just put him in a pen sans wheelchair, and let some hungry pigs take care of him?

  22. DaveO says:

Gotta say that Hasan is some posterboy for martyrdom. He is so religiously fervent that he wants to live.

Unless Jonn is willing to pay for Hasan’s life, since he’s in a wheelchair – hang ‘im low. Why should I give up mortgage money for some joe to wipe his tuckus and suffer through Hasan’s ravings?

  23. Blanka says:

I’m for death as well. If they give in to his demand, what else will they give in to as time goes by? Will he eventually request certain rights for “good behavior?” Access to a computer, for example? Or perhaps he’ll want to write a book about his decision to kill innocents? You know some publishing agency would nab that in a heartbeat for its sensational content. Another Che Guevara saluted for being a murderer.

    Eye for an eye.

  24. Hondo says:

Nik: it might be rude, but it’s understandable when the 72 ladies in question look like this:

    http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_dNDcHtiKdf4/TPl7MufkrNI/AAAAAAAAIjc/tMNov2cql9o/s1600/Helen-Thomas-_-Islamist-Apologist.jpg

Maybe that’s why Hassan wants the death penalty off the table . . . . (smile)

  25. Twist says:

Lock him in a room with Snooki and he will be begging for the death penalty to be put back on the table.

  26. DefendUSA says:

No. Fucking. Way. Hasaan terrorized good people while he committed fraud, treason, murder–and for that, he deserves the death penalty. His guilt is known, and that will be justice served.

  27. Nik says:

Tell ya what…if he can beat me in a high-jump contest, he lives. Sounds about as fair as what he did was.

  28. FatCircles0311 says:

SSGT Robert Bales will be convicted with the death penalty before Major Poopyhead Hasan’s trail even begins.

  29. streetsweeper says:

MAJMike? While you and Cato do your thing, I’ll provide overwatch and wave the survivors on in for their share of his ass. Anybody else would have been long gone to prison by now, waiting on the chamber, chair or needle.

  30. Ex-PH2 says:

You guys are making this too easy.

Hasan is a dedicated coward. If he weren’t, he would not want the death penalty eliminated. A true jihadist would beg for it. It is martyrdom.

Since he doesn’t want it, the sentence could be something much more creative, such as: life without parole, beans w/mystery meat three times a day, and no one to feed him, clean up after him, talk to him, or even see him for as long as he manages to stay alive (complete solitary, no human contact, no TV, radio, or music). Nothing to read except the document with his sentence printed on it.

  31. Twist says:

MajMike, Cato, and streetsweeper, I will provide the transportation.

  32. MAJMike says:

    @streetsweeper #29: Sounds like a plan.

Maybe we could sell tickets for beer money.

  33. PintoNag says:

To have a sentence there has to be a trial, and I’ll be shocked if we get even that much. It’s pretty obvious that nobody wants to end up holding this political/religious hot potato. A death penalty would be that much worse, because it will bring every activist with an agenda out of the woodwork.

It’s a damn shame that whoever shot that moron didn’t double tap him and save us all the aggravation.

  34. OldSoldier54 says:

    Life without!!??

Not only no but, %#^*^$!)<?*& NO!!!!

  35. OldSoldier54 says:

    #33 PintoNag

“It’s a damn shame that whoever shot that moron didn’t double tap him and save us all the aggravation.”

That has crossed my mind a few times …

  36. Green Thumb says:

Its beyond me why the military is still screwing with this issue.

Waste of time, resources and money.

Either lock him up and throw away the key or execute him.

    Get on with it.

  37. 2/17 Air Cav says:

It has been three years, two months, and 13 days since the initial charge was filed against Hasan. The wheels of justice turn slowly but they are likely to rot before the SOB is ever tried.

  38. Ex-PH2 says:

Maybe he’ll die of congestive heart failure.

  39. Stacy0311 says:

Leave him out in General Population while he’s at Fort Leavenworth Home for Wayward Youth. sure they’re all criminals, but some of them are probably still patriotic. A pack of smokes and a Snickers will ensure that somebody does a Dahmer on his diaper wearing wheelie ass. Maybe we’ll even get lucky and somebody will steal a hambone from the chow hall and make a shiv out of it

  40. Yat Yas 1833 says:

He wants the death penalty off the table and I want him off the face of the earth! He’s just proving what cowardly dogs muslims are.

  41. OWB says:

My knee jerk reaction is simple: if he wants it, deny it. On the other hand, this could just be another legal manuever. If delaying is what the defense was aiming for, so far it’s working.

    Whatever, just get it done.

  42. rb325th says:

I am sure those he killed did not want the death sentence he gave them either, nor the ones who lived with life long injuries want that sentence he gave them….. I could give a fuck less what that murdering terrorist scum wants.

  43. Cargosquid says:

Grouchy Old Cripple had this to say about the traitor.
    http://www.grouchyoldcripple.com/archives/007324.html

I hope he needs a catheter, has bed sores, pains, infections, etc.
    Put him in solitary.
Leave him there until he begs to die.
    Point and laugh.

The other choice is wake him every morning with a slow methodical beating. Every morning. He will go to sleep every night, knowing that he will awaken to pain.

  44. obsidian says:

Honest to God I don’t give a rats ass what happens to hasan as long as he is in pain and suffers for the rest of his life no matter how long or short that life is.
Yes, I admit I hate this fat crippled bass turds guts.
