Seattle still atwitter about their Redeye

Seattle is still talking about their Redeye missile launcher this morning, according to the link sent to us by Richard on Facebook.
They’ve finally recognized that it’s not an “RPG”, but now they delight in the fact that they can call it a “surface-to-air missile”. And it looks like someone took your advice and started buying back the guns when the police ran out of gift certificates;
The buyback effort took in a lot of guns, but the sponsors ran out of the gift certificates they were handing out in exchange for the guns turned in and there was a steady business on the street by people buying guns from those standing in line, even before they had a chance to exchange their guns for a gift certificate.
Entrepreneurship ruled the day, apparently, although that kind of defeats the whole “gun buy-back program” thing.

I wonder how many background checks were done on those?

For those with some investment funds to hand, I found numerous AT-4, LAW and RPG items on ebay with about 5 minute’s worth of searching. Low purchase price and potential high resell value.
Enough good stuff to let Johnny Law crap his pants when you show up with it.

I need to start cashing in on this!

Is it just me, or does the cop in that photo look like the Round Marine?

Aren’t there any cops with that department that have prior military experience? You’d think someone (anyone with prior weapon experience) would be able to identify the Stinger, and that it’s useless.

@7. Hey! It’s not useless if you wet a ream of paper, ball it up, put it in the tube, and use a compressor to blow it out the other end. And if you don’t have a compressor, just use most any member of Congress.

@8 – It’s a “t-shirt launcher” then?

Just like an AR-15 is “easily” convereted to full auto, this can be converted in to one hell of a potato gun

@9. There you go! You found another use for it.

Staley balls! They are dense rubber balls used for playing jacks on the sidewalks. They bounce like crazy and hurt like hell if they’re thrown hard at you.
A bagfull of Staley balls, an air compressor, and the depleted Stinger tube. Use the trigger mechanism to fire the air stream. Genius!

All well and good but does it have a bayonet mount? Is it an assault SAM?
January 28th, 2013 at 10:54 am
That is genius! I wonder if Indy has any plans for a buy back
January 28th, 2013 at 11:08 am
@14, I know I will be watching WISHTV with my fingers crossed.
January 28th, 2013 at 11:20 am
@10 & 12 – I’m in the market for one, then.

You can score some nice guns cruising gun buybacks.
Guy on AR15.com did this a few weeks ago and scored, amongst other things, a really nice French MAS 36 and a FR-8.
