Christopher Jordan Dorner; Lunatic on the loose in CA

Dorner

Christopher Jordan Dorner, a former LA policeman and Navy Reservist who murdered two people so far is running loose in the LA area. He’s issued a lunatic manifesto “To America” that rants and raves trying to scare people with his military experience. From the manifesto;

I will conduct DA operations to destroy, exploit and seize designated targets. If unsuccessful or unable to meet objectives in these initial small scale offensive actions, I will reassess my BDA and re-attack until objectives are met. I have nothing to lose. My personal casualty means nothing. Just alike AAF’s, ACM’s, and AIF’s, you can not prevail against an enemy combatant who has no fear of death. An enemy who embraces death is a lose, lose situation for their enemy combatants.
[...]
Hopefully you analyst have done your homework. You are aware that I have always been the top shot, highest score, an expert in rifle qualifications in every unit I’ve been in. I will utilize every bit of small arms training, demolition, ordnance, and survival training I’ve been given.

Yeah, I’m sure the Navy Reserve beat the shit out of him with all of that training. No one is mentioning any deployments, so I’m sure he’s absorbed all of these skills through osmosis by living in California and wearing a uniform near Coronado. He was fired from the LAPD three years ago, according to Fox News;

According to documents from a court of appeals hearing in October 2011, Dorner was fired from the LAPD after he made a complaint against his field training officer, Sgt. Teresa Evans, saying in the course of arrest she kicked suspect Christopher Gettler, a schizophrenic with severe dementia. Following an investigation, Dorner was fired for making false statements.

The woman he killed was the daughter of the police chief he blames for his firing – and he killed her fiance. So there’s a loot of crazy in that huge head, and little of it has much to do with his military service, apparently. Just enough for the media to call him a crazy vet.

His manifesto rocks. It’s like listening to some dip shit field grade see how many army-isms he can throw into a brief:

Sir if we can adjust fire for a moment and go red direct to slide alpha regarding SHARP training, recommend a course of action that allows us to go kinetic on this training, then engage those low hanging fruit…

    What a turd.

  4. 4
    USMCSgt Says:

At the most, his deployments probably consisted of sitting at customs in Kuwait making people dump their bags.

What an idiot. Hopefully he wises up and drops the dumb act, but if he doesn’t, maybe the HRT boys will find him and grant us two successful missions in the same month!

This guy will be caught and kill himself within 6 hours. No way this moron makes it to another family member of a cop. As someone else said, his ridiculous use of acronyms just makes him look like a looney tune. His ridiculous talks about assymmetrical warfare and insurgency warfare is probably way above his head.

    Ex-PH2 Says:

According to the local ABC station this morning, Dorner has shot two other police officers. Nothing was said about his military service, only that he was wanted in those two other murders.

Based on my intel, IF he’s still affiliated, odds are he’s IRR. He no longer has a valid Navy email address. Was affiliated with Naval Security Force.

#8 Ph2, so besides killing that woman and boyfriend, he has killed two officers now? Wow surprising, didnt think he would go through on his threat.

    Ex-PH2 Says:

@10, not killed, just shot — wounded. A later report says that he also killed one other police officer.

I’m sure we’ll get updates during the day, but I hope the media focus on his being a cop and not on his military service.

  13. 13
    Ex-PH2 Says:

And he has apparently been arrested.

  14. 14
    Reaperman Says:

So call me weird, but I’m somewhat inclined to believe his story about the kicking. He shouldn’t be a cop, killed people, and I don’t think I caught a single one of the loser’s acronyms, but I’m so prejudiced against the non-uniformed people of LA after 4 years stationed near there that I’ll probably still give him the benefit of the doubt on that one. And yes, I know it’s the wrong thought to have.

LAPD calling the weapon used in the Corona shooting incident was a “shoulder-fired” weapon. The reporters can’t get him to say “assault rifle” but not for lack of trying. Still at the press conference and they ask the same question about the weapon 6 different ways.

HERE IS THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION,,,,HOW DID THE PSYCH EVALV AND BACKGROUND PROCESS FAIL THIS TIME. THEY NEED TO START RECRUITING PEOPLE WHO WANT TO BE AT L.A.P.D INSTEAD OF LETTING THE BACKGROUND PROCESS DICTATE/HIRE OFFICERS. THE BACKGROUND ONLY GIVES A SNAP SHOT.

    RM3(SS) Says:

Before my current gig with the feds, I did 22 years as a local cop. If this guy was hired in 2005 and fired in 2008, what was he doing with a training officer? Normal training period is 6 months before you are cut loose. If you’re a real screw up you can get it extended by a few more months but even given academy time, there’s no way he should have been with a training officer that long. Unless he passed probation, and was such a numbnuts that he was re mediated in an attempt to get him up to speed. bet he wasn’t hired from the top of the list either. great job affirmative action, to say nothing of the Psych that had to of signed off on him.

  60. 60
    CWO5USMC Says:

hmmm…does manifesto mean “ramblings of a person who’s as crazy as a sh!t house rat”??

Perhaps I’m just old, but don’t only crazy people have a manifesto nowdays?

    Just saying…..

  61. 61
    Hondo Says:

RM3(SS): his manifesto claims the following:

“I had worked patrol at LAPD’s Harbor Division from 2/06 until 7/06 when I was involuntarily recalled back to active duty (US Navy) for a 12 month mobilization/deployment to Centcom in support of OIF/OEF. I returned back to LAPD’s Harbor division on 7/07 and immediately returned to patrol. I worked at Harbor division until 11/07 where I then transferred to Southwest Division. I worked At Southwest division until 6/25/08 when I was relieved of duty.”

  62. 62
    Derpy Says:

CNN apparently got his records. According to them ,he got out of the Reserves on 1 Feb, was qualified expert in rifle and pistol and had served in “river warfare units and a mobile inshore undersea warfare unit”. River warfare units are Navy Special Warfare – right?

Not sayin’ he was Special Operations, but it seems he was at least assigned to some Special Operations units.

    More here: http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/07/us/lapd-attacks-mood/

  63. 63
    teddy996 Says:

@62- I don’t know, but perhaps they’re referring to harbor security? Had a guy at work here get called up. He was a machinist’s mate, and they had him driving RHIBs at the mouth of a river after 9/11, controlling access to the sub base at Groton or some such. They made him qual on pistol, the 60 and a shotgun as well, and I can see them classifying that as “river warfare and inshore undersea warfare”.

    But I’m not 100% certain.

  64. 64
    RM3(SS) Says:

Hondo, we had a guy in the Marine reserves that was recalled while he was still in the training program-I had him as a trainee. We made a special effort to get him through. It looks like turdbreath was remediated given that he was in training for 5 months prior to his deployment. If he was still with a training officer, he was a textbook screw up that they were trying to get through somehow. been there, done that with “high value” trainees. I read his “manifesto” and I just can’t see how he passed the psych.

  65. 65
    Chris H. Says:

Derpy…dude was likely not attached to SO/SW units.

Looks like he was part of the reserve Coastal Riverine Force as they are called today (a merger of the Riverine and Maritime Expeditionary Security Force (once called Naval Coastal Warfare)). Couldn’t be further from NSW if he tried.

  66. 66
    Hondo Says:

RM3(SS): not doubting you, amigo. Just trying to provide possibly pertinent facts so someone with expertise can assess. I’m not an LEO, so I can’t assess.

Having read parts of his manifesto (couldn’t stomach reading all of it in detail), I have to agree that he doesn’t seem to be the sharpest tool in the shed. And his deck might be missing a card or two as well.

MSRON: Mobile Expeditionary Squadron (deployable unit employing a HQ staff, ground security, C2 element, PSUs, and MIUW)

NECC: Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (head ADCON organization for these units…basically if it’s not a ship, sub, SEAL, or aircraft, it’s under NECC).

  76. 76
    MCPO NYC USN (Ret.) Says:

NECC provides rapid deployable and agile expeditionary forces, made up of active duty and reserve mission specialists, to warfare commanders in support of maritime security operations around the globe.

    Includes:

    EOD
    Riverine Units
    Mobile Inshore Undersea Warfare

Big Navy’s answer to getting in the GWOT

    Does Not Include NSW:

    Combat Support Tech

    USCG

    Port Security Units (PSU)
The best at this task and they have LE authority.
    Deployed worldwide.

  77. 77
    Chris H. Says:

    MCPO:

    One add and one refinement:

    - NECC also owns the SEABEEs, to the tune of about 43% of their end-strength.

    - PSUs are USCG units, but they were attached to MSRON/RIVRON units with the port security mission.

  78. 78

Yup, us left coasters: office hours daily from 0900 – 0905!

Retired in ’09 when the detailer said no more sea duty for me and I had some rather unkind things to say about her. Still keep my finger in the Navy world as a contractor now, supporting the same groups of bubbas. Suppose that’s why I get so pedantic when talking about NSW or NECC.

    MCPO NYC USN (Ret.) Says:

@ 106 … so I will net this one out for everyone to understand in Navy terms.

He was a horrible Naval Officer.
Clearly not supported by enlisted or officer ranks.
    He was never promoted.
ENS to LTjg to LT is automatic as long as long as you can pull up your zipper and eat with a spoon.
    He was a horrible reservist.
    He was a horroble LEO.
He is a horrible person and will burn in HELL!

In short, a dirt sucking scum bucket who in my opinion will be dead by the end of the day!

  109. 109
    68W58 Says:

Per the link in comment 106, Dorner had an Iraq Campaign Medal which along with previously listed unit assignments implies he did some riverine patrols in country.

Also, what were the LAPD officers thinking shooting up the truck with two newspaper delivery women?

  110. 110
    Hondo Says:

Old Tanker: I just decided to put them in “pending” until Jonn had a chance to look at them and decide, amigo.

Jonn’s house, Jonn’s call. I just try to help him with some of the obvious stuff when I can.

    Derpy Says:

This Army guy thanks all you Navy folks for sorting me out. That all makes much more sense than what the Google told me.

Bottom line – this dude’s a nutcase, regardless of any military service.

  113. 113
    Hondo Says:

Possibly, 68W58. Alternatively, he might have been assigned duties at at Um Qasr. Seems to me that we were trying to get that port back in operation about the time he was mobilized (2006-2007).

No mention of a CAR, so he apparently didn’t get shot at much if any while in Iraq.

  114. 114
    Old Tanker Says:

    Hondo,

    Yup, no brainer there!

  115. 115
    68W58 Says:

Erick Brockway-that’s not exactly unusual behavior for people delivering the paper, I did it for a while and you drive slowly on the opposite side of the road when you are putting the paper in a box from the driver’s side. What happened to the idea of positive ID before opening fire?

Hondo-just drawing what seemed to me the most logical conclusion. There are plenty of other possibilities, don’t know how much combat the riverine patrols saw in Iraq.

  116. 116
    Chris H. Says:

    Hondo/68W58,

The ICM was authorized not just for the ground of iraq, but also for anyone serving in direct support of OIF within the air or water-space out to 12 NM beyond the surf line. Cruising the al-Faw or the GOPLATs when based out of KNB would qualify.

Related: it may differ from unit to unit or from timeframe to timeframe, but indirect fire and IED strikes didn’t rate a CAR for most Navy units on the ground.

  117. 117
    68W58 Says:

Chris H.-you’d still have to meet the 30 consecutive or 60 nonconsecutive day threshold though, cruising the rivers or being posted to a base within Iraq seems more likely.

  118. 118
    Hondo Says:

Chris H.: no argument, amigo. He could indeed have served in al Faw or off-coast and qualified for the ICM. Was just pointing out that he might have been on-shore too – we had a number of Navy personnel on our base when I was in Iraq in 2007-2008. The Um Qasr port simply seemed to be a good potential (if speculative) fit.

Interesting point about the CAR. I would have thought that those would meet the criteria (for IDF, only if reasonably close of course). Learn something new daily.

  119. 119
    Chris H. Says:

    Hondo,

Too, he could’ve been with RIVRON proper (before the merge) who did river and road security out of Haditha. I think that mission started in 2006-ish.

Could be wrong about the IED strikes, as very few of our BN got hit (at least en route). We did however get lots and lots of IDF, some of which was close: BN CO vehicle destroyed, tentage and wire frag, etc.

  120. 120
    Erick Brockway Says:

@113 As far as the CAR goes, we rolled forward with the Marines, had a SCUD launch less than 1/4 mile from us and go up into the smoke over our heads. Big firefight as the tanks peeled off the MSR and blew the snot out of it.

Patriots launched from Kuwait, snuffed the SCUD, and it’s remains fell in the shit pond at Ali al Sallem. The people huddled in their bunker at Saleem got CARs, the people who went forward and stayed got squat. I don’t put much stock in Navy issued CARs. Or NAMs, for that matter. Now a Navy Commendation Medal I think remains hard to get.

    he's claims NFA weapons Says:

in his manifesto, he claims to have an AR-15 SBR (short-barreled rifle) and at least one silencer that he CLAIMS he paid the $200 tax for the stamp and into the registry via the National Firearms Act.

He claims he got them through the “trust” or “inc” clause of the NFA, meaning he bypassed the fingerprints and chief LEO sign-off. Looks he’s trying to add the NFA’s strict registration laws as being “unreasonable.”

I figured a few that visit here might own some legal, machine guns, silences and other NFA goodies.

  124. 124

    Hondo Says:

SD’s last comment appears to be from an .edu domain in Houston, TX. Earlier today he apparently was posting from a legal firm’s IP address in Houston, TX. From his comments, I’m guessing he’s not one of the partners at the firm. Maybe he works in the copy room.

Have no idea who he is, and frankly don’t give a damn. He’s of little consequence or import, and his opinion is IMO worth the same.

    Hondo Says:

For what it’s worth: Fox is reporting that Dorner “served in Iraq, providing security on an oil platform”.

Latest info is that his truck was found, burning, near Big Bear ski area about 80 mi E of LA.

    Trust in Almighty ATF Says:

If it is true, that he owns or is using several SBRs and suppressors (all NFA restricted items) that he claimed to legally buy via ATF Stamp 4s while not even living in the state he bought them as in according to his “mafinesto,” then the ATF is a joke and the NFA registry even worse.

Read federal law, machine guns, silencers, and a boatload of other weapons are perfectly legal. As they should be.

  132. 132
    Al T. Says:

“the ATF is a joke and the NFA registry even worse.”

Uh, yes. Lots and lots info out there. Including video of the ATF supervisor briefing his folks to lie about the registry.

  133. 133
    NFA law Says:

    @ 132
How dare you Sir! The ATF would NEVER falsify the registry or sell semi-auto AKs to the very people they vowed to arrest!

  134. 134
    NFA law Says:

Obviously that video of the head of the ATF instructing his agents to lie and commit perjury is obviously a photoshop, just like the 1986 Hughes Amendment should be THE standard for how laws are passed in our “democracy” (not to be confused with a Republic).

  135. 135

Which probably mean he was just coasting along in the Navy. Also might explain his overuse of acronyms. Still out there at large, as someone else I think Hondo said…he must be trying to make way to Mexico after he kills some or attempts to kill a few more cops.

Damn didnt get to see the canadian guys post. I wonder what he said.
