This Time it’s Clearly One of Theirs

| February 8, 2013

A rogue cop in California has gone on a killing streak, publishing a manifesto declaring himself a supporter of virtually everything liberal in America but outside the law. This renegade officer used a firearm to kill two innocent humans because of their collateral relationship to his own career failures. These were killings of retribution to get back at the parent of one of the victims who apparently had insufficiently represented the killer in a police competency hearing. The killer subsequently killed a cop who was pursuing him.

So will we hear cries from the left to disarm the potential perpetrators of such mindless mayhem? Will we hear op-ed pieces as to why all these cops are allowed to go armed amongst a helpless civilian population? Two things come to mind with the first being that the perp has published his manifesto in which he condemns every aspect of conservatism while effusively praising virtually everything liberal including the networks who should, if they were honest, be disclosing all this, but in reality won’t because this time, it’s undeniably a perp of the left doing the killing.

The left won’t use these particular killings to further their gun control campaign because it would belie their conventional wisdom that all such madmen are conservatives. Even they know in their heart of hearts that it makes no sense to disarm American citizens who increasingly are faced with the prospect of physically defending themselves against violence because the cops simply can’t get there in time. It is a reality that a liberal, generally coastal and urban minority in this country, will continue to deny for no other reason than that it makes them somehow feel morally superior to those of us with the common sense, presence of mind to keep a loaded handgun ready on the bed side stand. And fools that they are, they are the ones who fall victims to violence far more frequently than we who are armed.

And so, we will hear no strident reactions in the mainstream media because this time there is no denying this killer is one of theirs, a liberal rogue cop who advocates gun control while praising the president who seeks to disarm the American people. That this killer is black further lends to the muted response of the major networks for that is an inconvenient truth: a black man who, according to his own writings, is a huge supporter of everything liberal in this country, including the mainstream news outlets that should be reporting the truth of his mindless rampage.

It will never happen…

  1. Twist says:

Some are already claiming it is a right-wing conspiracy to make the left look bad. I’m pretty sure that will be on next week’s “Tuesdays with Claymore”.

  2. Paul L. says:

Maybe we should suggest Dorner’s law that fired LEOs should be banned from owning Firearms.
It fits with their logic for universal background check. After all, the 2nd amendment (like the 1st) is not absolute.

  3. Whitey_wingnut says:

I’ve already been informed by co-workers that the manifesto isn’t real, it was written by Fox News, these are people in the service…I shake my head.

  4. PintoNag says:

“One of theirs,” “one of ours”….oh, come on. He’s a nutjob rogue cop on a rampage. His “manifesto” could have just as easily been about his youth on Mars. I don’t care about anything a cold-blooded killer has to say. He’s a mad dog that needs to be stopped.

  5. ChipNASA says:

He should shoot liberals to prove his point.

  6. pete says:

i’m only 55yrs old and was raised-up to respect all leo’s but,,these new crop of law-dawgs worry the hell outta me!

  7. 68W58 says:

PintoNag-all true except that the partisan media is always quick to smear conservatives with guilt by association (see, for instance, Sarah Palin and the Gabriel Giffords shooting). Turning the tables seems to be fair play, but yeah, I’d like it better if everyone just stopped trying to score political points off the actions of nutbars.

  8. Scouts Out says:

Pinto you hit the nail square on the head.

  9. Scouts Out says:

68W58- The guy also praised Jon Huntsman (his candidate of choice for 2012), Chris Christie, and most surprisingly George H W Bush. That sounds less like a liberal to me and more a middle of the roader with views all over the map. Trying to pigeonhole this guy into one side or the other, when it’s fairly obvious that he’s neither is cheap and it doesn’t help.

  10. PintoNag says:

@7 As far as the media goes: if we have such a problem with the media, then use the lib’s ouwn playbook against them. Take control of the media, exactly the way they did. Conservative/moderate owners, reporters, journalists. Buy it, write it, report it. That’s the only way to get it reported fairly.

  11. Charles Rane says:

This guy was probably a decent guy, I am sure he had his issues like we all do but I see a man who tried to doing the right thing and was screwed over by the system and now he is trying to get payback maybe if we as a people stood up to our government a little bit more they would stop fucking us over all the time.

  12. 77 11C20 says:

I have to disagree with your description of a rogue cop. He not a rogue cop he is a psycho ex-cop fired almost five years ago with a little over two years as a cop.

  13. Ex-PH2 says:

Dorner sent CDs and written stuff to Anderson Cooper at CNN.

Let the conspiracy theorists babble on. They don’t want reality. They only want what they ‘believe’…whatever that is. If you tell them a blizzard is on the way, they will blame it on conservatives who don’t want them to wear open-toe shoes in the winter.

  14. Just an Old Dog says:

He’s a fugging loon. Just because he admires figures on the left doesn’t mean the left supports his actions. The main hippocracy I see is if he was a supporter of the NRA, G.W. Bush and Sherriff Joe it would be all over the news.

  15. 68W58 says:

Scouts Out-draw your own conclusions, but the best part of his manifesto fits into pretty standard lefty positions as far as I’m concerned. I’m not interested in playing “No True Scotsman”, but I can’t see how anyone can get “middle of the road” from that stuff. PintoNag-again fighting fire with fire is all I’m talking about. The partisan lefty media have established the rules of play and we’re just following them. I don’t really like, but maybe when we turn their tactics on them they won’t either and will reconsider what they do.

  16. MAJMike says:

Soooooo, further proof that only the Government and the Police are to be trusted with access to firearms!?!

  17. The Dude says:

This story is pretty far out man, you think the guy is headed for Mexico our planning to start his own little insurgency in LA?

  18. PintoNag says:

@11 You are correct about the time frame. Technically, he is an ex-cop. I give him the term “rogue cop” because of this one thing — when someone who has worn a uniform gets out and commits an act of heroism, it is immediately tied back to their service. “He-was-able-to-run-into-that-burning-building-because-he-is/was-a-fireman” kind of thing. And that’s fine, and true. Now this man has police training, and has used his knowlege to kill at least one cop and two civilians. Therefore, I won’t call him an “ex-cop.” He’s a rogue cop, because he’s using what he has learned to kill cops and others.

  19. PintoNag says:

Sorry, comment 18 was at #12, not #11.

  20. Bill R. says:

Rogue cop? Um no. Hence all the pics of him wearing his Navy uniform. He’s a rogue GI!/sarc

  21. The Dude says:

the news is garbage now msnbc and fox news are a waste of time everything is opinionated so I don’t bother with world events anymore myself it is much more productive to light up a j instead

  22. Scouts Out says:

I know a few lefties and a few righties and a whole lot of neither. None of the libs I know think HW was a good President. None of them like Christie, and the few who do say nice things about Huntsman think his economic policies would have been a disaster. He may have extreme views on second amendment issues but beijg extreme in one thing does not a liberal or conservative make.

  23. 77 11C20 says:

@18. What specialized weapon and tactical training does the LAPD give its rookies? In my old department you were lucky to get off a foot post in that time frame. His last police training was over five years ago. His actions so far show no exceptional training. It seems he was a dud as a cop and a Naval officer.

You don’t need training to ambush civilians or unaware cops, a 14 year old with a gun can do that. He couldn’t even steal a boat and he was in the harbor division and the Navy.

  24. 68W58 says:

Scouts Out-he mentions Huntsman once in passing (as near as I can tell from reading his manifesto here ) in a paragraph where he goes on and on praising President Obama.

He spends the best part of his manifesto praising lefty politicians, celebrities and journalists and if you can find any favorable discussion of conservative policy in that mess then you are a better man than I. Further, the left is happy to praise Republican politicians once they are out of office-we had a discussion on that here just the other day regarding Ronald Reagan, as a contrast to those “unreasonable” Republicans in office today-that doesn’t impress me.

And Chris Christie deserves a lot of credit for trying to get New Jersey’s house in order, but beyond that his policies are hardly in the Republican mainstream. I like him fine as the Governor of that state, but he wouldn’t get my vote in a Republican primary and the loon only mentions him to say that he’s the only person he’d like to see as President in 2016 “other than Hillary” take from that what you will.

  25. Hondo says:

For what it’s worth: former President George H. W. Bush was a Naval Aviator during World War II and served in combat. This guy was reportedly a Naval Aviation washout. His respect for the elder Bush may well have to do more with Bush’s World War II record than his politics.

  26. David says:

@11 – I think by the time someone kills the daughter of his ex-lawyer he has pretty well forfeited any claim to be fundamentally a nice guy just fighting back. He’s a dipshit.

  27. USMCE8Ret says:

Dorner was fired in 2009, and he just snapped earlier in the week. What has he been doing since then? (That’s a rhetorical question). Answer? He’s been massaging his angst over the whole LAPD firing thing for 3 years, and god knows over what else – just waiting for the right moment.

Yeah, he’s a rogue ex-cop alright – but the media will find a way to spin it back to him being an unstable veteran, in spite of what the LAPD already owned up to in training him.

  28. UpNorth says:

@#11, “I see a man who tried to doing the right thing and was screwed over by the system and now he is trying to get payback”. Um,nope, reading what has been put out, he was a guy who couldn’t find his ass with both hands and flashlight, and washed out after two FTO’s tried to train him.
Smacks more of another “Diversity” hire than anything else. He screwed himself over, if he wants payback, he could suck start a 9mm.

  29. Ex-PH2 says:

@27, so far, the news media here have focused on his being a cop who was fired and is on a revenge-killing spree, rather than on his being military.

  30. Lobster says:

Meanwhile, LAPD is going around shooting up anyone in pickup trucks…

I’d really like to know how much of what he said about what happened to him is true?

  31. DaveO says:

PintoNag hit the nail on the head: Fox and The Blaze can’t be the only media outlets.

IMO, the truck burning in Big Bear is misdirection. This guy has had several years to plan this. He’s out of the weather, back south, if not in Mexico, and watching LAPD suffer.

  32. USMCE8Ret says:

@29 – I’m with you, but I wouldn’t put it past the media to try and put the “deranged veteran” spin on it somehow. I’m just a little jaded with the media, that’s all. 🙂

  33. streetsweeper says:

Media in LA has a woody for LAPD, far worse than anything military if memory serves me correctly. So, it is better for them to whip it up over a rogue cop than it is a veteran. Three quarters of the LA Basin has nothing but hatred for LAPD because of “the man keep putting me down” syndrome. If they lost his track on snow and ice, then I am inclined to follow my instinct and think he’s in a hiding spot in the Big Bear mountains that he scouted out long before and waiting.

  34. ConcernedCitizen says:

According to the Calguns forum, we’ll be hearing about a reaction soon enough. New legislation is being pushed quivering Jello-fresh, that’s how much fear it’s laced with:

    >Must register and report ammo purchases. Only purchase max 500 rounds.
    >ALL magazines must be fixed to the gun (can not be removed without the use of a tool)
    >100% prohibition of all magazines greater than 10 rounds. All previous grandfathered magazines become illegal. Felony if you keep one.
    >Bullet Buttons will become illegal — All AR and AK style rifles that are currently equipped with them will be designated Assault Weapons. Felony to possess.
    >All gun owners now must be licensed like drivers.
    >All gun owners must carry gun liability insurance

Two mayors, two police chiefs, and a senator have been running their gums, but the most I was willing to hear before I tuned out was one of the police chiefs saying guns are not defensive weapons, but are intended to dominate and frighten people. Kinda makes you wonder why the police have ’em them.

  35. ConcernedCitizen says:

    The quote in question.

“One issue that always boggles my mind is the idea that a gun is a defensive weapon. That is a myth. A gun is not a defensive weapon. A gun is an offensive weapon used to intimidate and used to show power. Police officers do not carry a gun a defensive weapon to defend themselves or their other officers. They carry a gun to be able to do their job in a safe and effective manner, and face any oppositions that we may come upon. If it was a defensive measure, why did we lose 55 officers nationwide last year to gun violence?”

“…we are asking and have been asking for reasonable regulations, not that are going to impact the legal gun owner…”

  36. USMCE8Ret says:

#34/35 – Gun liability insurance. To me, that translates into “if you shoot someone in self defense and they live, you have to pay for their medical bills and any legal fees afterwards when the sue you.”

As far as cops and guns go, I always heard it they carried them for their own personal protection since they’re not bound to protect the public. I’m sticking by that, and there are quite a few acquaintances of mine who are in that profession who would agree with me.

Sounds to me like that police chief needs to go back and learn a little something about his job – and maybe some police ethics while he’s at it.

  37. Redacted1775 says:

“A gun is an offensive weapon used to intimidate and used to show power” Debunked by the fact most who carry prefer to carry concealed. Kind of difficult to intimidate, dominate and show power if your sidearm is not visible to the public. Some states are open carry, however I prefer concealed because there’s alot of ignorant people out there who won’t know any better and call the cops; then it becomes nothing but a major pain in the ass.

  38. Insipid says:

There is absolutely nothing in his manifesto to indicate that his murders were politically motivated but more as a result of anger at the police department. This is in contrast to the Killer of George Tiller, the Killer of the Holocaust Museum guard and Shawna Forde the anti-immigration “militia” member who murdered a 9 year old and her father. ALL these people stated outright that they are murdering to further their own right-wing political agenda. Should i mention Tim McVeigh. You can STFU now.

  39. Jonn Lilyea says:

    Floyd Lee Corkins II

  40. Redacted1775 says:

Nope, he’s one of yours pal. Fucking OWN IT.

  41. Insipid says:

Yes, there are such things as Democratic Murderers. I do not doubt that this guy was a Democrat. However he was clearly NOT motivated by his politics to kill. It is the right wing that is motivated by politics to kill. Hell on this very site, Poetrooper gave the Tim McVeigh defense of the Second Amendment that states that the Amendment is there to allow folks to kill polticians they don’t like. It is currently the right, not the left, that is motivated by politics to committ murder. I’ll admit that it hasn’t always been that way in this country. But it is that way now. OWN IT!

  42. Anonymous says:

It all depends on what one means by political. The definition I like is who gets what and how much. And, of course, there is world politics, natioal politics, state and local politics, and office politics. In any event, Dorner wrote about the LAPD’s treatment of blacks, latinos, and asians. He then goes out and does what? Executes a black male and a woman of asian extraction. We don’t yet know the race or ethnicity of the PO he killed. I guess Dorner is his own EOE officer–an Equal Opportunity Executioner.

  43. Anonymous says:

Oh, I forgot lesbians. Dorner wrote about lesbians too!

  44. OWB says:

Ding, ding, ding!! Sippy plays the “it’s not political” card!

That would be the first time anyone suggested, or denied, that the killings had any political motivation. Who said that they did, sippy? All we have said is that he is one of yours. You may be trying to figure out the “code” for that statement, but it just means that this killer apparently supports the lefty agenda.

  45. Insipid says:

Yes, but his “supporting the lefty Agenda” is irrelevant to his reasons for killing. Those that are killing political causes in the last few decades have been mostly coming from the right.

  46. USMCE8Ret says:

#46 wrote: “Those that are killing political causes in the last few decades have been mostly coming from the right.”

    Prove it?

  47. OWB says:

Sippy may actually be correct in that statement, but it is not likely that s/ actually meant what he wrote. Fraudian?

  48. Anonymous says:

What is a political cause? Anyone have a ready definition? Is it different than a social cause? Terms are rather important. For instance, although “pete” called me sir and a moron in another thread, I have no idea what he’s talking about.

  49. NHSparky says:

Master Sergeant–he can’t, he won’t. He’s your typical leftie troll…pisses, moans, and cries when he realizes his talking points have long been debunked and scattered like ashes to the wind.

BTW, sippy, how the fuck ya doin, man? How that Bumblescare shit goin down for ya? How’s that tax hike going so far, ya ramblin fucktard?

Oh, and as far as “politically motivated killings”, please, do go on. I haven’t had a good laugh in days.
