  1. SSG Romesha, MoH, in his own words | Bring the heat, Bring the Stupid | February 12, 2013
  1. LIRight says:

What a man! I hope I have the privilege of meeting SSGT Romesha one day.

Thanks for posting this video, Zero.

  2. FatCircles0311 says:

Someone explain to this Marine what this fancy hat means. No shout out for Meyer? Just jazzin’ ya Army guys!

  3. Lucky says:

    He’s a Cavalryman, that’s the hat.

  4. 68W58 says:

For some reason I thought Romesha was an 11 series. Is he a 19D?

FatCircles-it’s a Stetson, worn by Cav Troopers on ceremonial occasions. Jonn posted a picture of me wearing mine (I am sadly no longer in the Cav) some time ago.

  5. AW1 Tim says:

    Well said, and thank you.

  6. LIRight says:

I was an 11D-40 with the 11th Cav (too many years ago). I never wore the Stetson, but have seen many at my unit reunion in Louisville wearing same.

    I don’t see a CIB…..is he wearing Infantry brass?

  7. Old Trooper says:

    @6: He’s sporting a CAB

  8. LIRight says:

    @7

    Thank you.

  9. I have one of those Stetsons.

My unit actually wore berets, but now that I’m no longer in the Army, I choose to wear my Stetson whenever I dress up for a special occasion.

No, I reckon he probably wears Cavalry brass, which is what I wore, and he wears a Combat action Badge, not a Combat Infantry Badge.

Anyway, go to my web site (just click on my name) and see ALL the videos.

Prior to the ceremony, his little boy, Colin, stole the show with his innocent antics!

  10. Bam Bam says:

Fuck yeah! Rockin the Stetson! Scouts out.

When I escorted COL Crandall of “we were soldiers” fame he told me how he wore his Stetson to the White House for his MOH presentation and a USAF COL came to him and said “your hat is not appropriate” and Crandall said “sir this isn’t a hat, it’s a Stetson. And this won’t be the last inappropriate thing I do before I die”

So he goes to Prez Bush and as he puts the medal on, the prez says “I like your hat”.
You can guess what COL Crandall’s response was.

    If you ain’t Cav!…

  11. Ex-PH2 says:

That is an eloquent three minutes with one very humble man.

  12. SJ says:

What have I learned here: that there is a CAB. Didn’t know that.

  13. OWB says:

Thank you! (from a proud daughter of the CAV)

  14. USMCE8Ret says:

God bless that young man and the contribution he made to his Army, his fellow soldiers, and the Cavalry community. It makes me proud to see these young warriors get recognized for the selflessness they have. Words are difficult to express…

  15. Smaj says:

Clinton Romesha is an absolute class act.

  16. Dirt Dart says:

Raise the Glass Brothers: Drink Deeply and Remember our Fallen, Honored, Living and the Forgoten

  17. NHSparky says:

God bless SSG Romesha and all those who go in harms way for us. I am truly humbled.

  18. Anybody read the citation? I got tired just reading it. Its unbelievable we still churn out guys like this with all that goes on in this country. Its a privilege to serve with men like this.

  19. SteveS says:

A true hero and a class act. Where do men like this come from?

  20. UpNorth says:

A class acknowledgement, by a true leader and soldier.

  21. MCPO NYC USN (Ret.) says:

MEDAL OF HONOR RECIPIENT ON DECK.

    HAND SALUTE.

    READY TO.

  22. YatYas says:

What an great young man and warrior. As a Marine never cared for all the extras the Army wears, but the Stetson is an awesome looking cover(headgear).

  23. Just Plain Jason says:

I want to say he is a Tanker.

  24. Just Plain Jason says:

That brought a tear to my eye.

  25. Elric says:

Cavalrymen MSH! If you ain’t CAV….

Damn proud to see him rocking a Stetson. I’m pretty sure he is a 19D as there are no 19K slots in the Cav Squadrons in the heavy or light brigades… only in the Regimental CAV or in the mobile gun systems (MGS) platoons in the Stryker brigades. While there are many “Cav” units in the 1st CAV Division, most are cavalry in lineage only and are in fact armor or infantry battalions.

Seems like a damn strac trooper and an outstanding leader. God bless him and those who now slake their thirst at Fiddlers Green.

  26. Twist says:

@26, I know it is possible for a grunt to be in the Cav. We had to give up 11Bs to the Cav Battalion during my deployments (granted I was Stryker). I am pretty positive that the fact that he isn’t wearing blue disks, cord, or CIB that he is Cav and a damn fine Cavalryman at that.

SSG Romesha, you are one fine NCO.

  27. JH in Texas says:

I feel like a pussy watching this guy.
