Free Movie for Vets & Active troops

| July 3, 2013

We just got a flyer about free admission for active duty troops and veterans at the movie “White House Down” on July 4th only;

Regal Entertainment Group, AMC Theatres, Cinemark Theatres, and Carmike Cinemas To Participate in Special Tribute to Troops

CULVER CITY, Calif., July 2, 2013 – On Independence Day, to thank America’s troops for their sacrifice and service, active military personnel and veterans will be admitted with one guest to see Columbia Pictures’ White House Down for free at any Regal Entertainment Group, AMC Theatres, Cinemark Theatres, or Carmike Cinemas theater by showing proper military identification. The special invitation to America’s military personnel and veterans is valid only on the 4th of July and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis at each participating location.

Commenting on the announcement, Rory Bruer, president of Worldwide Distribution for Sony Pictures, said, “We think White House Down is the summer’s best action movie, so on July 4th, we’re inviting all active duty and veteran military personnel to bring a guest and see it for free. It’s a great way to celebrate the holiday and to honor and thank the troops for their service to our country.”

In White House Down, Capitol Policeman John Cale (Channing Tatum) has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting President James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx). Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group. Now, with the nation’s government falling into chaos and time running out, it’s up to Cale to save the president, his daughter, and the country. The film is directed by Roland Emmerich, written by James Vanderbilt, and produced by Bradley J. Fischer, Harald Kloser, James Vanderbilt, Larry Franco, and Laeta Kalogridis.

That’s probably the only way I’d go see this particular movie from what I’ve heard of the plot. I wonder when Hollywood is going to have the villains portrayed by actual villainous people instead of drawing on the worn out cliche rich white guys. And the scariest part of the movie is that Jamie Foxx is the President. But, hey, it’s free on July 4th only, so go have fun. I guess you should call your theater ahead of time to ask if they’re participating in the dealie.

So we got that going for us, which is nice….

  2. Ex-PH2 says:

Portraying villains with gangbangers or Latinos is simply too politically incorrect for LaLaLand.

If they ever grow up and face the real world, someone please send me an e-mail about it. Thanks.

  3. UpNorth says:

Probably doing this to pump up their numbers, as the flick isn’t doing all that great. Then again, why wouldn’t the people with the disposable income flock to see Jamie Foxx, after he said how much fun he had killing white people in D’Jango? Screw him and screw his movie.

  4. 68W58 says:

Roland Emmerich? I’d rather be water boarded.

As to the choice of villians, anything other than white guys would challenge the multicultural delusions of our ever so fragile elites (who apparently can’t stand to be upset in any way), we’ll wait a long time to see actual real world bad guys portrayed in Hollywierd films.

  5. PigmyPuncher says:

Translation – we’re screwed. Out movie flopped. Conservatives have started speaking with their wallets, and we need to artificially inflate out viewing numbers to save this sinking turd of a movie… Lets see if we can try to infer that we have .mil support for our messages and somehow gloss over the unbelievable dumb $shit our actors do since they think they’re untouchable (yes, were talking about you Jamie Foxx)… Good Luck with that…..

  6. MCPO NYC USN (Ret.) says:

Jaime Fox … take your failed movie and Travon Martin hoodie and go away.

    Crazy Ass Cookie

  7. Twist says:

Kings Island is also giving free admision to active duty and retired Military and a discount for up to 6 guests.

  8. Old Trooper says:

Fuck him and his movie. They would have to pay me to go see it and even then I would have to think about it.

  9. NR Pax says:

Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House At which point, the movie is unrealistic.

  10. 217 Air Cav says:

No thanks. I get enough leftist BS from the actual White House and every conservative review gives this a thumbs down. And how in the world are they going to determine Veteran status? My guess is that they are not. So, you don’t have to prove Vet status and you can bring a friend? In other words, free movie for everyone! The film is tanking big time and this is a cheap effort to give it a boost. If you go to root for the bad guys against the obamaman, you will be very disappointed in the end.

  11. Sparks says:

    @11 Thank you. Well said.

  12. David says:

They lost me when they listed Jamie Foxx. Been disappointed ever since he wasn’t killed in “Law Abiding Citizen.”

  13. PintoNag says:

The bad quys in the movie are described as “mercenaries that worked for various governments.”

This is my shocked face. We’ll be fighting aliens in space before we see a movie where the bad guys aren’t the “politically correct” variety.

And I have a real aversion to the name of the movie.

  14. streetsweeper says:

I’ll be sucking down cold beer, hoisting a few yall’s way too. Fuck Jamie Foxx and the little red wagon he rode in on.

  15. shiftee says:

    *spoiler alert*
Black democrat President, who wants to eliminate all US presence in the middle east, attacked by white former military mercenaries and the token right wing nazi hillbilly, all hired by a white republican who wants to seize the Presidency for himself…what’s not to like?

  16. Nik says:

I won’t go see it for free.

In fact, you’d have to pay me a fair amount of money to go see this steaming pile.

  17. Al T. says:

I thought this movie was about Clinton and Lewinski*? What did I miss? 😀

    * Buddy of mine watched and thought it was terrible. I was going to say “sucked” but thought I’d avoid the joke…..

  18. shiftee says:

#17 sad to say I did, we had free tickets and I hadn’t seen much of the previews. I knew I was in trouble a couple of minutes into the movie when Jamie Foxx sees a conservative news anchor reporting from the White House and tells an advisor to stop letting them “on his lawn”. Needless to say, I spent the entire movie muttering expletives under my breath and whispering in my girlfriends ear that what she was seeing was the most unrealistic, tactically unsound, crock of liberal sh$t to disgrace a movie screen in a long time.

  19. FatCircles0311 says:

Jamie Foxx can kiss my white ass.

  20. Ex-PH2 says:

There are not enough free tickets in the world to get me to go see Jamie Foxx and/or Tatum Channing in a movie. :PPPP

On the 4th of July, I can drive over to the parking lot at the Shell station near Great America and watch the fireworks instead. I may have a “Tour of Duty” marathon, too.

  21. MCPO NYC USN (Ret.) says:

    @ 18 Al T.

    Wrong movie.

You are referring to the 1995 and 1996 short movie series “White House Going Down” starring “Slick Willie” and Monica “Messy Dress” Lewinsky.

  22. OldSoldier54 says:

I would not soil myself watching this movie for ANY amount of money.

  23. Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

Yeah this wasn’t on my list of must see films, I guess the idea is nice…I’m hoping it’s not a cynical move but a genuine effort to be decent on the part of the theaters….

  24. Robot Wrangler says:

Ohh Tour of Duty was a good show. I’m just sad that they didnt leave the original music in the DVDs. The canned music they put in place just doesnt have the same feel.

  25. Ex-PH2 says:

Robot Wrangler, the production company couldn’t get the Stones to release the rights for “Paint It Black”. But the episodes online are good, anyway. I don’t mind the drums and bamboo flute music at all.

They got the Army in Hawaii to loan them NCOs with multiple tours in Vietnam for consultants on the series. And here’s an interview in 2003 with Terence Knox.

  26. Brent Glines says:

Sorry, I want to do something fun instead, like get a colonic flush.

  27. Common Sense says:

Olympus Has Fallen was a great movie, I don’t have any need to see the leftist version. Plus, Gerard Butler is more my kind of guy than Channing Tatum. Jamie Foxx? Ick.

  28. Ex-PH2 says:

If I can find Josey Wales or Philo Beddoe on YouTube, I’ll watch that.

  29. Nik says:

After him saying people should riot if Zimmerman is acquited, I’ll never even consider seeing another of his movies.

  30. Bobo says:

“Free” still means that I have to pay for gas to and from. It’s still not worth it.

  31. NHSparky says:

Hmmmm…go see this hunk of steaming guano, punch myself in the balls…

    Decisions, decisions…

  32. MCPO NYC USN (Ret.) says:

NH … I would take the “Punch in the Balls”.

    Most probably least painful!
