Michelle Obama: you don’t understand the military, and neither do I

| April 25, 2014

My inbox has been filling up with emails about the First Lady’s little speech yesterday in which she told Americans that we, as Americans, don’t understand the military life;

“Unlike Jill, I wasn’t a military mom. I wasn’t a Blue Star family member. I didn’t know much about the military, and I was probably more like the average American,” said Obama.

She added that 99 percent of the nation takes the military’s service for granted. “Because when one percent of the country is serving and protecting the freedoms of the other 99 percent, it’s very easy for the other 99 percent to take that for granted.

And then she proved how ignorant she is about military life;

But, she added, life on the campaign trail felt like military life. “Dealing with everything that I was dealing with — a spouse traveling, a job, kids — we didn’t deal with multiple moves, but I learned about the challenges that happen when you move from base to base to base; the way your kids have to adjust on a dime. And doing it knowing that the person you love is in harm’s way.”

Yeah, we all remember how tough it was to be “in harm’s way” with only that thin line of Secret Service folks between us and the bad guys. The constant moving from 5-star hotel to 5-star hotel. It was Hell, I tell you. Hell. I get flashbacks from the hotel staff carrying my bags and smiling at me. And the tips, my God, the tips.

Given the way that the sports heroes, the Hollywood pretend-heroes and now the politicians compare their jobs to being in the military, I guess that they really don’t understand what being in the military is like. And they’re not ashamed to demonstrate how much they don’t understand. That’s bravery! they should all get medals for being unafraid to demonstrate their ignorance in public like that.

I hate her even more than her husband…if that is indeed possible…

Has she submitted her claim to the VA for PTSD yet?

As soon as saw the topic of “Michelle Obama” I knew I was going to get pissed. I was not disappointed. Life on the campaign trail must be rough these days. Just like her husband, the “Witless One”, she starts out almost coherent, then fucks it all up when her small brain engages and goes off the pre-prepared speech given to her. Stick to the speech they give you Michelle. Don’t open your mouth on your own and show the world how stupid you really are.

Yea I remember back in the day. The hotels. Oh the hotels. Went to a training class at Barksdale AFB. There was no room at the inn (TDY enlisted quarters). So they put us up at a fleabag in downtown Boosier City. Three guys in a two bed room. They were nice enough to throw a sleeping bag at us for the odd, lowest rank, guy out. Yea those were rough days. I can’t imagine having to do it with folks carrying my B-4 bag and all those Secret Service guys in the shower with me. You know, handing me my soap, skin lotions and facial masks. Plus they just really get in the way for the regular old, shit, shower and shave.

If she’d stopped after the first quote, I would have applauded her.

  6. JBS says:

When she drags her own duffle bag, ruck and other crap across that 3ft deep pile of gravel at Ali, then it will be a start.

  7. The Other Whitey says:

Really, lady? You know what it’s like to have your husband “in harm’s way” because he’s a fucking POLITICIAN??!! And before that, was a low-rated teacher at a shitty college? MY GOD!!! It’s a miracle he’s alive!!

And you’re millionaires, so, yeah, that must be sooooo tough, moving from your summer house to your winter house and back before going to the White House! And all those vacations you’ve took on our dime EVERY GODDAMNED WEEK FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS must have been so emotionally taxing! Especially since you never had to pay a dime out of your own pocket for transportation or the five-star accommodations you get everywhere–you’re welcome, by the way.

I’m sure you know exactly every struggling wife of a PFC, Airman, or Seaman feels.

    Fucking gold-digging harpy cunt…

This is a classic example of a speaker attempting to commiserate, and sounding ignorant instead.

I’ve notice that neither of the Obamas walks well in other people’s shoes.

    • David says:

Probably the kindest possible way to say that.

    • Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

I’ve notice that neither of the Obamas walks well in other people’s shoes.

That’s because they think everyone is wearing the same glass slippers they are…..

To paraphrase John Locke: “Our social status is like our shoes; if too small, it will gall and pinch us; but if too large, it will cause us to stumble and to trip. “

  9. FatCircles0311 says:

    What a jackoff.

This woman has lived nothing but a life privilege and it shows.

the reality of the situation is that we as veterans are more of a minority than any other class of people that have minority status. what might really help is to vote more veterans into political office irregardless of what their party affiliation is

There was a time in college when Michelle was one of Gator’s girls in his… Dating service.

Plenty of tips back then, plenty of tips…

I’m surprised she didn’t refer to Elisted Personnel as “Her Peasants”. I wouldn’t put it pas her, she proves herself to be THAT conceited!! Does the First Sasquatch realizw how many Military families could have been helped out with the at least tens of millions she and B. Hussein have blown on vacations alone?

  13. RM3(SS) says:

Don’t forget that she “was never proud of her country” until Obozo was elected. Oh, and her famous “all this for a flag”.
Harpie, shrew, arrogant bitch. But I repeat myself.

  14. Farflung Wanderer says:

This is a strange mix of pathetic and hilarious. Your commentary was great, the “tips” line had me chuckling.

Michelle Obama… Was there any woman who drives me batty faster. She has the gall to tell us how to live our lives while going off on her own magical mystery tours to Hawaii and China with the regularity of a Swiss clock, all the while preaching how tough her life is.

With all due respect (which is very bloody little), I don’t think you know a single thing about real life. It’s not because you’re rich or privileged: It’s because you don’t really care about anyone other than yourself, and never once understood the concept of putting your feet in other people’s shoes (I mean that figuratively, of course, but sometimes you need to spell it out to these people).

Please, do the world a favor and vanish from the world stage.

    • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Didn’t the First Wookie/Sasquatch also try to tell us all about how bad life was being the First Lady a few years ago?

  15. jonp says:

She should have stopped at the first comment and been done with it while she was ahead but like most elites she knows everything and nothing at the same time so tries to relate with us flyovers and fails miserably.

  16. Beretverde says:

A classic example of today’s military-civilian disconnect. Funny how high this disconnect reaches.

  17. Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

Well, I do remember trading in my airline tickets for standby and getting upgraded to 1st class a few times back in the 70s….so that’s just like having a personal security detail and the entire plane to yourself right?

I was able to get a cabbie to drive me from Benning to Atlanta so that’s just like Marine 1 flying you around right?

I also recall getting heated c-rats in the field on many occasions and thinking to myself that those warm c-rats were just as good as having a personal white house chef preparing your evening meals and a staff to clean it all up…

Yup, we 11 Bravos were living the high life in the 70s….might as well have been at 1600 PA Ave we were so fucking spoiled….all that work for about 14 dollars a day when I started and about 30 a day when I finished…great wages…

“all that work for about 14 dollars a day when I started and about 30 a day when I finished”

Gosh, gee whillikers, you mean you had to pay FOURTEEN DOLLARS ($14.00) every single ding dong day before the United States Army would let you play soldier with the other guys?

I reckon I was pretty lucky, ’cause the United States Army paid me sixty-eight dollars ($68.00) – – – in CASH ! ! ! – – – , although it was actually more in the neighborhood of fifty-six dollars ($56.00) after deductions, one of which was that for first G.I. haircut they gave us.

Still, it was enough to buy luxurious stuff like candy bars and chewing gum, so I figured I was in hog heaven!

      • I remember my very first payday in the United States Army.

There I was, just running around from place to place, totally ignorant and thoroughly stressed, like I normally would be on any other normal day of Basic Combat Training in the middle of Winter at Fort Lewis, Washington in Company “D”, Third Battalion, First Brigade.

I saw a couple or three other guys talking about money, and when I inquired what was going on, they told me it was payday, and I should go see the drill sergeant, which I did.

As I stood at the position of “Attention!”, the drill sergeant looked at me and said,

“Do you think you DESERVE to be paid?”

        Properly ashamed, I sadly replied,

        “No, Drill Sergeant.”

As I started to turn away, the drill sergeant yelled,

“Get yourself over to the Orderly Room NOW, so you can get your pay!”

Boy, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!

        Could you BELIEVE it?

ME, a genuine soldier in the United States Army – – – , and they were paying me MONEY!
