Tony Gallagher is not a Korean War or Vietnam vet

Tony Gallagher1

Apparently, this Tony Gallagher person has been busted before, but, of course, he claims that the National Personnel Records Center records are false because he’s a secret squirrel. At this link, you can hear him tell how he was on the East Berlin side of the wall when President Reagan called for the Soviet Union to “tear down this wall”. He says he was wearing an East German uniform and him and one other agent were there to protect the President in case the East Germans chose that moment to attack. Totally believable.

But, he also claims to be a Korean War veteran and a Vietnam War veteran with two Purple Hearts. The NPRC says differently;

Tony Gallagher Assignments

He spent two years active duty and four years in the reserves, mostly before the Vietnam War saw committed combat unit soldiers. He was discharged as a Sergeant E-5 and it looks like his active duty time was spent as a chaplain’s assistant and a clerk. It also looks like after 1963 he was in the Ready Reserves.

There are several articles about what a great job he does for active duty service members in Missouri and veterans, but he’s not doing anyone any favors by pretending to be something he isn’t.

Yet another example of honorable service, flushed straight down the crapper through embellishment and lies. Damn shame.

Now, WhErE hAvE wE sEeN sOmEtHinG lIkE tHaT before?

  2. Combat Historian says:

The guy’s totally legit; I have it on good historical sources that on 28 February 1965, President Johnson personally ordered this man here to go deep deep “Super Secret Squarrel” deep undercover to enlist in the East German Army so he can be sent by the DDR to North Vietnam to serve as an East German advisor to the NVA and to report all intel directly to UNCLE. This brave man concluded his undercover career in the East German Army by single-handedly stopping a DDR invasion of West Berlin while President Reagan was speaking there. This man deserves a medal…///

  3. 3E9 says:

Him and one other guy to stop the entire East German army? Who the hell was with him Audie Murphy?

  4. Ex-PH2 says:

Just what in the blue-eyed world is wrong with being a clerk typist? Does this boondoggle on legs not know how important that job really was?

  5. 2/17 Air Cav says:

Yipes. 1st Cav AND 101st. I can’t make out what that yellow thing is that is stapled to the side of his head. Added a few rockers, too. Love the tie. Jeez.

  6. Silentium Est Aureum says:

Oh goody. Another shitbag, rocking the lie to the grave.

If dude served in the late 50’s and early 60s, chances are pretty good his DOB is late 30’s sometime, and very unlikely he was born before 1935, which is when he’d have to have been born to have any chance of seeing hostilities in Korea.

Does anyone there know how to do math?

    • Desert says:

I was in from 1959 to 1963 and I was Vietnam, he could have been, but too late for Korea..I was 17 when I went in….

      • Silentium Est Aureum says:

I was being very generous with the birthdate. More than like he was born around 1940, meaning he got his PH for Korea before his 14th birthday.

  7. Bobo says:

I’d love to see someone who is fluent in German engage him in a conversation. I’d have to assume that the government wouldn’t bother sending him with the intent that he pass himself of as East German military without him being fluent in German.

    • Ex-PH2 says:

You’re FAR too logical about this, Bobo.

      Just find Sgt. Schultz.

    • BmrSnr991 says:

I can’t believe you would insinuate he actually admit to knowing German! Surely you know his knowledge of the language is classified as Top Secret, as are all of his awards and the name of the person with him, and the names of anyone who could verify his claims. I mean, he could have you arrested if he really (like really, really) wanted to.

    • GDContractor says:

I heard he speaks Austrian language real good.

      • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

I bet he’s as fluent in Austrian or German as a certain non-CPO is as good at checking his fuel level!

  8. CLAW131 says:

I’m think he has the presidents confused with one another.

I think he really meant to say he was a deep undercover Chaplain’s Assistant during Kennedy’s Jelly Doughnut/ “Ich bin ein Berliner” speech and not Reagan’s “Tear down this wall” speech.

As far as the 101st patch, take it off Dickwad. It belongs to me.

  9. A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Ooh, a Chaplin’s Assistant? GREAT cover title for a Sooperdooperwonderwompus seekrit skwirrel! Has he threatened to “lawer up” yet?

  10. Yef says:

    Serious question:

Who do you think lies the most, valor thieves or UFO witnesses?

  11. Sparks says:

    Not a sniper? PFFFFtttttttt!

  12. Jarhead says:

It finally dawns on me, all these phony wannabees but neverwerebees and neverwillbees eventually join some organization where they can get comfortable wearing at least some kind of uniform. BTW,is the “Mo, Larry and Curly” fan club still open and giving away a free uniform with every membership application?

  13. Skippy says:

    NEXT !!!!!

  14. D says:

What is attached to his glasses?

    • CLAW131 says:

I think it’s like a fob of past positions within the 40 & 8 club.

His headgear indicates he was a past commander of a local station/club.

The 40 & 8 has even less stringent membership eligibility requirements than the AL/VFW and is a good place to hide out and spread your lies.

      • Bobo says:

        WFT is the 4 & 80 club?

        • CLAW131 says:

The 40&8 used to be a sub section of the AL much like the Cooties are to the VFW.

But since cutting all ties to the AL, it is now just another struggling military related club that is about as relevant as the Odd Fellows.

It’s a “legitimate” association. Google it up for more details.

          • T Vogel says:

I’ve belonged to the 40/8 vets group in Sedalia for over 10 years now. It is a legit organization. Known Gallagher for all of the time too. Heard all of his BS stories. Called him on several. Korea,CIA bureau chief in Nam in 75, CIA, etc. Claims records were destroyed. Been to house before. He’s not an Army E-8 as he claims. Was only an E-5.
