Rick A. Patterson; phony PJ

| July 18, 2016 | 67 Comments

Someone sent us this guy, Rick A. Patterson who claims that he was a Pararescueman in the Air Force. He tells tearful stories about his time, about the friends that he lost and the wars he fought. Here’s one;

Well, I contacted LD Jeffries, a real Air Force PJ, and he could find no training for Patterson. So he decided to troll Patterson on his Facebook page;

Patterson 79-01

Yeah, he left LD hanging and blocked him. With good reason.

Patterson FOIA

He was an Air Force Sergeant and an aircraft maintenance guy for four years in Arizona and Germany. No PJ training, not even trained in the Basic Airborne Course. His Facebook has lots of pictures that he claims are him, but, no they’re not.

I know he’s not wired too tightly, so there’s no need to tell me that, but his lies are heinous. Here are some more screen shots of his mindless drivel that LD sent me, if you can stand it. It’s not even good fiction;

UPDATE: Last night as I was preparing this post for today, Patterson posted this;

  1. Hondo says:

The apology actually seems good. Maybe he’ll do what he should: cease being a liar and a fake, and get on with his life as an honorable person.

Unfortunately, we won’t know for sure until we see whether or not he returns to being a liar and a phony in the future. We’ve seen far too many who decided to “lay low” for a while when busted, then resurfaced later with the same old BS “cock-and-bull” stories.

  2. Ex-PH2 says:

They say confession is good for the soul. What comes from him has the sincerity of tub margarine.

I give this twit about two weeks for the heat to die away before he starts up again. But that’s the cynic in me.

    • HMCS(FMF) ret. says:

      Ex-PH2… just two weeks?

Before long, we’ll start hearing stories about Rick Patterson trolling sites with tales of his missions and people he’s lost.

Another person that served honorably and took a crap all over his service.

Deal with the “fame” Rick A. Patterson…

    • Ex-PH2 says:

Two weeks – yeah, that’s about how long I think he’ll take to back off and wait for the heat to die down.

  3. As I read his apology, I noticed the last sentence. He will de-activate, possibly to come back with a new scam, ala Kyle Barwan, (Who, by the way is still at it, scamming fellow gamers, with tales of woe, getting them to finance his drug habits.)
I would like to think that this guy is sincere, but having far to much real contact with posers, I doubt that will be the case. Color me skeptical.

  4. F@ckyocouch says:

Dude is all BJ; no PJ. May he have a heart attack, mid-coitus, just as his boyfriend “lines up the pitch”.

  5. Tman says:

These military phonies are only ‘sorry’ they got caught.

As we have seen repeatedly, sooner or later they’ll be back to their usual tricks.

Just like rapists or serial killers, military frauds just cannot stop.

  6. Rick A. Patterson, you’ve caused yourself to be gooooooogleized.
Life’s a bitch when you can’t be honest with yourself and the world.

  7. 2/17 Air Cav says:

It frightens the shit out of me that this guy was allowed to get anywhere near an aircraft, let alone touch one.

  8. Mike Kozlowski says:

…I think we have a new meme here:

“He went full Patterson. You NEVER go full Patterson.”

    Mike

  9. Chip says:

Dude had honorable service and he could not be pleased with it.

  10. Doug says:

“The apology seems sincere… just let it go..”

Really? Why did it ever get to the point where he needed to apologize? He should be held accountable. He lied, either because he wanted to inflate his own sense of grandeur, or because he needed attention. And when he realized what sort of attention those lies would get him, he posts that apology, and we should ‘let it go’? Absolutely not. The only punishment the majority of these people will face is crucifixion in public court. So I say we hammer a few more nails in for good measure.

    • Hack Stone says:

And it took quite some time from being a badass PJ, defending the lie with threats of violence, to finally, if not reluctantly, offering a lame assed apology. How about apologizing for the threats you made against those that asked legitimate questions regarding your exploits?

  11. Atkron says:

Doesn’t some of that story sound vaguely like the experiences of the SAS team that were compromised during Desert Storm? Sean Bean was in a movie about it.

I’ll bet this anal berry watched that movie…

    • spd0302 says:

      Bravo 2 Zero…
I thought the same exact thing. It was a popular book for my IOC class.

      • 20thEB67 says:

I was thinking more along the lines of “The Dirty Dozen-+3”, probably cause I`m older than dirt.

        Rick A. Patterson; phony PJ
You have quite the vivid imagination. I thought I was reading a fucking screenplay!
        Get a (real) life, man.

        Oh, and take your meds.

  12. Just An Old Dog says:

He sounds like he is a genuine nut case. That doesnt give him the green light to not be called as a lying sack of shit.
Other than him flat out lying aboiut his service and fabricating tales of our elite forces commiting atrocities I don’t like his sorry ass threatening people. As for posers like him I will paraphrase “the Boy” in his tall tale “MAKE THEM PAY”

  13. A Proud Infidel®™ says:

He SAID he was sorry and he’ll discontinue, I say DEEDS, NOT WORDS.

  14. Hack Stone says:

Just fucking great. After reading this guy’s FaceBook comments, I now need to go see the SSO and sign a new Non Disclosure Agreement. It would save all of us some time if Jonn were to post a blank NDA with each thread, and we all can just sign them electronically.

  15. Otto says:

that he got close to a tool box let alone an aircraft is downright scary….

  16. Hack Stone says:

    #BlackOpsMatter!

  17. GDContractor says:

He should apologize to his 4th grade English teacher.

The best part of his apology was “I don’t expect to be forgiven.” Dude is smarter than I thought…

    • Hack Stone says:

Too late. After reading his comments on FaceBook, she was required to commit ritual self-murder.

    • Combat Historian says:

Glad I didn’t bother reading his screed, or my head would be hurting now from whatever grammatical butchery he committed in aforementioned screed…

      • Hack Stone says:

I bet that he had to look up how to spell thesaurus. I didn’t even bother to notice if it was spelled correctly. With all of the spelling, grammar and syntax errors from his remarks, I thought that I was reading a business proposal from a proud woman owned software company formerly located on Wilson Lane in Bethesda MD. This guy should be on the short list for the next round of candidates for the All Points Logistics Executive Mentorship Program.

  18. Jonn Lilyea says:

LD says that it was just a few days ago that Patterson was threatening to sue LD. I guess he saw the writing on the wall.

  19. 19D2OR4-Smitty says:

To all you non USAF folks, just as an FYI, Sergeant in the USAF is no longer used. When it was, it was E-4 and basically automatic 6 months after being promoted to SrA, which is also E-4.

    Fun facts.

  20. D says:

I still feel like he’s using weasel words with the “My records indicate…” instead of merely saying what he actually did. That sentence makes it look like he’s still referring to “sealed records” that are not indicated. Am I reading too much into this? When someone asks me what I did, I tell them honestly. If I said, “My records indicate I served in the Army,” I’d sound like an android.

  21. Green Thumb says:

    A long-winded turd.

Those are not stories, they are novels.

Dude should have attended the Basic Parachute-less Course”.

    Maggot.

  22. clamsgotlegs says:

He got *nothing* … “other than VA benefits”.

I wonder if he has PTSD and service connected injuries?

    smh

  23. jarhead says:

He didn’t know shit about diving; that showed in the first paragraph. You don’t decompress on the descent, it’s done on the ascent. Not to mention wearing a wet suit at 300 ft. Mighty cold at that depth, probably dry suit needed. Most of us have never been much below 150′ and even there it is cold.
IMHO the dude was self-forced into making a trite apology that failed to say…”I’m just another liar.”
RICK A PATTERSON, does the “A” stand for asshole by any chance? When you were born, did you parents say, “Look at that cute little asshole. Let’s keep it in his name.”

  24. SFC D says:

Got his itty bitty brain fried in that DM heat

  25. mr. sharkman says:

I know this is almost a self-inflicted wound in terms of the specific scourge of phony SOF, but at least I’m probably aiding the PJ and FR mobs.

Dear would-be phony SOF types: while idiotic in general (in addition to the dishonor of being a phony veteran of any type) to falsely claim SOF service (3x as much minutiae that you will never be able to BS an actual SOF dude about), falsely claiming to be or have been USMC Force Recon or USAF Pararescue awards an idiot point multiplier of x10.

Compared to other SOF communities, FR and PJ are exceptionally small and insular.

I’ll pour a stiff cock-tail (aurooo) tonight and toast BK and Checky, wherever you glorious MFers are. Hopefully somewhere you shouldn’t be, doing something you shouldn’t be doing, with a few gals who know they shouldn’t but can’t help themselves. In other words, a weekday in the life of a PJ.

    • Casey says:

mr. sharkman, may I suggest you add “DON’T claim your records are sealed, as it brands you a LIAR.”

What point multiplier would give that one? 😉

    • LD says:

Mr. Sharkman, BK and Checky are both real “Docs” now! Is this LL?

      • mr. sharkman says:

        LD- not LL.

That is great news (becoming MDs). Not at all surprising- you guys are all operationally trauma Docs as it is, but great news indeed.

I was going to ask if they’ve got side-by-side gynecology and cosmetic surgery clinics, but don’t answer. I want to keep the dream alive a little longer. 😉

  26. Casey says:

Looks like the sucker found out anyone can do an FOIA on his real records. Whoops.

  27. Fjardeseon says:

Funny, there’s another Rick Patterson that is a legit Country & Western singer. Silver linings and all, maybe he’ll sell a few more CDs…. 🙂

  28. DVet says:

I’m actually kind of impressed. This hump was totally committed to his story. More than a lot of the others. His “war stories” were very detailed.

My records were sealed and there are no pictures of me in training because I was “black ops”. There’s a difference between “black” and “spec” ops. That alone should make us all stop questioning why there’s no records.

I’m sure they’d all be redacted anyway.

    • mr. sharkman says:

Phony: “I was in black ops.”
Any TAH reader: “So you helped build recon satellites? Cool. One of my TVs stopped working. Help a brother out?”

      😉

  29. Hack Stone says:

Apparently, mastering grammar and spelling is not a prerequisite to going into black ops.

    #BlackOpsMatter!

  30. Marine 0331 says:

One thing is certain, and that is that the fuckstick can’t spell. He served honorably, so why do these goobers embellish their careers? Sometimes I can understand the ballless, dickless weenies who did not serve but lie about it, but the ones who actually did serve honorably and then make up stupid stories……just don’t get it.

  31. Marine 0331 says:

I forgot to mention in my last reply, but someone tell Ricky Patty that the M16 is not fed from a clip, but a magazine. I love the non-grunt types who are all phoney spec-ops and black ops but don’t even know proper nomenclature verbiage. Dumbass!

    • mr. sharkman says:

The easiest and funniest way to initially engage is to strike up a conversation about 1st/2d/3d line gear and personal preferences.

It’s always the elementary, basic details that doom them, because movies and books almost never touch on it.

  32. Green Thumb says:

    Extra Para-Shitbag.

  33. Hack Stone says:

The sad part about his story is that he ended up killing the owners of the bed and breakfast that he stayed at. That is the only conclusion that I can draw since he continuously referred to “hostels”. Couldn’t he just leave a negative review on Yelp instead of murdering an entire family?

  34. Ex-PH2 says:

I still give him two weeks to pull back, wait for the haboob to die back, regroup and start again, only with a better line of BS.

There I was, on the Cliffs of Moher, facing eastward across the Atlantic, watching the sun rise over the distant island of Crete….

    Magical, isn’t it?

  35. HT3 '83-'87 says:

He appears to be making a comeback…as photos B-1 & B-2’s are now decorating his page. I sense are story about how his cover was blown as a fake PJ to cover his true MOS as bomber crewman or something. Some guys just resist…

    • Ex-PH2 says:

Wow. Only took him -what-? two DAYS???

It must hurt when you can’t even win hide-and-go-seek.

    • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

I assume he’s posting them when he’s not licking windows.

    • Hondo says:

B-1 and B-2, photos, eh? Interesting.

He served from 1978 to 1982. Neither of those airframes were in the USAF inventory when he served.

The B-1 didn’t see anything but testing while he was in the USAF – and I’m pretty sure DMAFB and Hann AB were not locations at which it was tested. The B-2’s first flight wasn’t until July 1989.

Given his past dishonesty, using those photos doesn’t bode well. But it’s still to early to tell.

  36. 42A Combat Clerk says:

kids this is why LSD is bad for you.

  37. 3E9 says:

Funny how the details will screw these guys. I don’t recall protective masks having C2 canisters back in 79 but I wasn’t in then. I do know in 87 we had M13 filters (54 Bravos feel free to correct me) and I didn’t see a C2 canister until the early 90s.
    DIPSHIT

  38. David Bailey says:

His FB page is up and he is back at it again. He started in Dec laying out his true story of the “secret” part of his service that isn’t in the records. So far he is still in boot camp but damn he is a warrior hero already. You won’t believe what he is saying. I screen captured several pages of it in case he deletes it. There is also a Michael Ziobrowski that posts on every one of Rick the Dick’s posts and evidently he doesn’t think much of Ricky Dicky.

  39. ChipNASA says:

I just posted the TAH link on 3 of his posts.

    I bet I’m blocked shortly.

Way to bring back a zombie thread there Rick A. Patterson, Phony USAF PJ and Liar.

    • Ex-PH2 says:

All I can add to this Seekrit Squirrelly Silliness is that anything that was ‘classerfied’ when he MIGHT have been within shouting distance of it was thiry-plus years ago, and unless there is still some acitivity, it’s NO LONGER CLASSIFIED, Rikkkii!

  40. Green Thumb says:

    What a loser.
