Thomas D. Beaumont; phony Purple Heart Vietnam vet

| January 12, 2017 | 105 Comments

The folks at Military Phonies send us their work on this Thomas Beaumont fellow. He claims to be the most decorated soldier of the 1968 Tet Offensive with his four Bronze Star Medals, his Purple Heart and some sort valor award from the South Vietnamese.

Yeah, he has four bronze stars – four bronze service stars on his Vietnam Service Medal denoting the campaigns that happened during the war while he was in the country. His VSM would look like this;

Even if we gave him a pass for being ignorant about the four bronze service stars, though, there’s still the Purple Heart claim. His assignments show him as a patient in Japan at the end of his Vietnam tour beginning on October 11th – October 15th. Ten days later, October 25th, he’s back on the block, out on the street growing his hair long. That makes me think that his stay in the hospital was due to an illness and not a war injury, especially since he was an ammo records clerk. Either way, there’s no Purple Heart in his records. Scotty tried to tell him about the 4 Bronze Stars, but he wasn’t hearing of it.

Shit, Danni-boi is gonna go through the roof cause the VA gave him 127% disability for being “exposed” to all of the “bug juice” aboard the Yorktown!

      • Silentium Est Aureum says:

        Two things, Senior Chief.

When I got to my first command, I had the “honor” of diving in and helping clean out the potable water tanks.

Couple that with seeing what bug juice powder did to stainless steel shitters and pissers, and I NEVER drank anything underway except coffee, and in port, only of it came from a can.

  8. MSGT_RET says:

Based on this guy’s logic I can tell people I’ve been awarded 9 Bronze Stars since I have 9 bronze service stars on my ribbon rack.

How about that silver oak leaf cluster on my Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal? Does that make me a Lieutenant Colonel?

    What a knucklehead.

  9. NOT Shawn Oliger says:

A guy that will remain nameless who posts here on a regular basis would probably be making apropos remarks. Something like:

“Why cant people with perfectly honorable service just leave their mark on history as it happened instead of leaving a shit stain.”

I would have to respond with something like, “I don’t honestly know amigo”.

  10. jarhead says:

Thomas D. Beaumont….this will hopefully add to the recognition you seek so dearly. Hey, retard, that yellow hat you are wearing over at Military Phonies makes you look like the door man at the downtown New York City “Spank Me Thank Me Motor Lodge”. Let me guess, you sell Chiquita bananas as a side line to your door opening business? Kinda like those city street hustlers who open a long jacket and have a bunch of fake Rolex and other valuable brands. So whatcha selling, fake bananas? Why don’t you stick one of those fake bananas up your fake ass and rub it all over your fake balls? Go ahead and paint your Johnson yellow to mach that phony stripe down your back and charge people to take a picture of you being the only service man injured in RVN with mustard gas? Then you can paint a red stripe (maybe just use some ketchup) down the front of your chest and let local gays pay to gobble the front door hot dog man? Hey Thomas Beaumont, you’re gonna be famous!!!!

  11. USMCMSgt (Ret) says:

The VA awarded him 145% disability in 2008?

    Can somebody explain this?

    • Claw says:

The 1st SEAC Joe Gainey helped him out.

Joe Gainey can fix anything VA related when it comes to Purple Hearts and being injured.

    • 26Limabeans says:

Sure. If you have total permanent rating for PTSD then apply for some physical issue and they grant you a rating for that, they can add up to more than 100% but you can only be compensated for 100% max. The rest is just window dressing but if you lose the PTSD (rare) you would still have the other rating to be compensated for.
      I could be wrong tho.

    • 1AirCav69 says:

Legally I’m 170% Service Connected. That is my combined rating. They don’t pay over 100% unless you are 100% and have another rating of at least 60%. Here’s the clincher, there are no 5’s in ratings. You can be combined at 140 or 150 but never 145. So just there he’s bullshit. Have caught bullshit artist at this a bunch of times before saying they were 23%, 25%, 75%, etc. Also guys like him will tell you that they were awarded a PTSD evaluation, but “never applied for it. The doctors said I was so messed up that they just awarded it to me.” Or equally rated bullshit. No application, no award unless you are granted upon discharge, but still the paperwork goes in, just when you’re about to ETS, instead of after.

      • NotaLeg says:

I still don’t understand VA math. I think the same people that do VA math are the same people that came up with the common core. Makes no sense.

        • 1AirCav69 says:

It is weird and baffling to everyone. At one time I had 2 90% ratings that combined came out 90%. Although I never had to apply for “unemployability”, they do have that as an option for when you are stuck at 70% or more and can’t work. Again, it’s very weird and in all my time at a Vet Center and DOD, I could never figure it out.

  12. A Proud Infidel®™ says:

WTF does Thomas D. Beaumont mean when he says he was “medevacued”? Oh well, Thomas D. Beaumont can go sit & spin on a pile on a pile of rusty barbed wire and broken glass.

  13. Skyjumper says:

    Phuck, where do I start.

    1) It’s “CORPS” of Engineers, not “CORP”, phuck nutz.
    2) …”individual medal for bravery….”
No dickhead, you were awarded (rather your UNIT which included you because you were a part of it at the time) the Republic Of VietNam Gallantry Cross “UNIT” citation.

The Gallantry Cross was awarded to every Allied nation which provided support to South Vietnam. The Gallantry Cross became the most commonly awarded Vietnamese decoration to foreigners, second only to the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

    3) Sen. Max Cleland was in office: January 3, 1997 – January 3, 2003 not 2006 when you claim he & Sen. McCain became “aware” of how “deplorable” the VA & Army treated you.

    4) “medivacued” is actually spelled either medevacked or medevaced.

    5) Purple Heart?? Must be true, after all you do have the obligatory “Purple Heart” hat. Must have been too cheap to buy one online, although you claim to have made millions from selling the beer distributorship. You bought the damn hats, whatsthematterwithyou that you didn’t by the medals! Phony Bastard!

    6) Dog? Yup! Your Facebook page shows the dog that must be “servicing” you.

I have no doubt! McCain lies! He lied to me! Said, accept VA’S proposal on your claim, and I’ll appeal monies they took illegally twice, immediately! I did! I trusted him! That was 2008. He’s done nothing! Can’t for a minute think he’s only lied to me! My bet is he’s lied to other vets too! Shame on you McCain. You used your service record to coerce Americans to vote for you while you dumped on fellow vets! Many vets suffered far more than you, and had to fight the VA for years and years to just get what they deserved.

A Scott Hughes has said I am a phony. I earned a Purple Heart. I was offered Purple Heart by Capt Jerry Warner. My commanding boss from the 661st Ordnance after I was hit in my left hip by a fellow soldier. I turned it down. Unlike Senator Max Cleland who was also hit by friendly fire. I was stationed at the Quin Nhon ammo dump. It was there that I experienced the invasion of the enemy and was awarded by Congress a quadruple bronze star, and a Vietnamese medal for bravery. When I was medivacued in a helicopter it crashed. I received no medals or honors for that crash. Something that IS routinely done. Instead I arrived at Ft Riley just three weeks before my discharge. I was told Army would not tend to my injuries unless I reup. I refused. I was told I would have to tend to my injuries myself in the private sector
    I did have two surgeries
One in 1980 and a second in 1990, both were a result of Nam. I was told I had no rights at VA when I was discharged. For 35 years I suffered from those injuries and the memories of TET. I have expounded on occasion what I witnessed. I will not go over that AGAIN.
For 35 years I never visited the VA, I was told I couldn’t. I had no reason to not believe that. In 1998 the hip I’d been hit had gotten so bad I placed a claim
For two years I waited. In 2000 I checked the status. Va said there was no record of my claim. So I refiled. Then over the next 8 years VA denied my claim 3 times. Claimed I had never served. Then they claimed my DD 214 was destroyed in a fire in St Louis. When Sen Max Cleland found my DD 214 it had been deleted of my hospital visits that explained how I was to be medivacued. It was deleted of my helicopter crash. None of my medals were ever put in my file but sat at the Pentagon till 2006. Army Board of Reviews sent me those awards. That was before Sen McCain found 32 page report of crash.
I had applied for Purple Heart I refused. It was denied cause there was no record and no record of the crash.
In 2008 I was approved for 100% PnT Disability for chronic PTSD. I had had my left hip replaced from the injury in Nam. My gate changed over a lifetime from no treatment. So my right hip took burden. It too was bone on bone! In 2009 it too was replaced. Both have been residual of my Accident in Nam. Witnesses came forward and their testimonies are now in my records.
When I had been approved for 100 % PnT I was also given more % due to hip and my right foot reconstructed. Also proven residual of hip injury. VA took monies from my backpay for monies I earned wrapping alcohol pads in VA hospital for five years while VA was denying my claims! They took $8800 twice for same reason. They also took $10,000 when I applied for first time mortgage.
Senator McCain coerced me to accept VA’ s offer and promised to appeal. I trusted him . He did nothing. I have lambasted him ever since. I believe he is behind this. I have been vitriolic towards McCain and rightfully so.
I earned a Purple Heart twice. Once when I was hit, and again when I crashed. I was awarded a quadruple Bronze Star and for bravery. The Army and VA denied I served. They deleted my DD 214. This government does not wish America to learn how Vets were handled. Me included.
I am one of the Most decorated vets from the TET offences. I am the most decorated vet from the Quin Nhon ammo depot. There were 6 others with me those nights. I can only assume they too were awarded like myself? But none of them crashed. I not only deserve the Purple Heart I earned it.
The VA is notorious for letting down the vets from Nam. I have no doubt McCain is behind this. He treated me horribly. I responded on his post everytime he posted. Though I can’t prove he’s behind this, Scott Hughes has no idea what my service was nor how I’ve suffered.
McCain knows in 2002 I was taken to VA hospital on Atlanta and kicked out at midnight when an intern chose not to admit me. Police escorted me out and told me if I came back I’d be arrested for tresspassing. I crawled into the woods as police watched and hung myself. My weight of 129 down from 200 lowered the strap around my neck. I had failed. Next morning I snuck into hospital and called Sen Cleland. He was irate and called Mr. Mountcastle director of VA hospital in Atlanta. It was then they learned c who I was where I served and when . The VA still is screwing me! There is nothing phony about me.
McCain never returned my calls once I began exposing his promises and his reneging of promises. All is proveable. Scott Hughes does not know me. He obviously had his nose bent or McCain put him up to this? Phone records might verify. MCCAIN despises what I’ve exposed about him! I despise McCain! Regardless. He had proof and still does. He’s just chosen to do nothing in response to my consistently telling the world on the Internet and fb just who he is ! Hughes you should be ashamed. Makes no difference if I’m on a list. I turned down Purple Heart once, and went offered another when I crashed because Army did their best to hide that crash. A crash that was found I n 32 page report. How else could I have medivacued if a doctor hadn’t authorized? How else could VA and Army Board of Reviews validate my injuries, award me disability and declare all m injuries were directly related to Nam.
McCain should apologize regardless if he’s involved in this attack or not! He’s plenty guilty. Again I never said I was awarded a Purple Heart. I said I earned it! I did. I did say I was awarded 4 Bronze Stars. I was! I did say I was awarded an individual award for bravery. I was. I did say I crashed being medivacued. I did.
    PERIOD.

  24. Perry Gaskill says:

It seems to me there are some problems with the details of Beaumont’s story. According to the DD-214, he was a FNG with the 661st Ordnance Company when the Tet Offensive started. In the interest of fairness, he gets points for being in a nasty situation; his ordnance supply unit was in Qui Nhon which was one of the provincial capitals attacked during the early hours of January 30, 1968.

Here’s a problem: It was an odd quirk at the time that the main combat unit in the AO, the 173rd Airborne, had split its operations. The headquarters for the brigade was at LZ English near Bong Son, but a lot of the support functions were in Qui Nhon which probably included the 661st Ord Co. If Beaumont was wounded while with his ordnance unit, it seems unlikely a dust-off would have been called because the main hospital for the 173rd was also in Qui Nhon.

There’s also a timing problem with his return to CONUS. If Beaumont had been wounded during the Tet Offensive, it’s duration was only about two weeks, it’s doubtful if the Army would have kept him around on convalescent status until October when he was sent to Japan. If memory serves, the drill at the time was that minor wounds got you treated and sent back to your unit. Patients with major wounds were kept long enough to be stable before getting a med-evac out.

    • Skyjumper says:

I was with the 2/35th (Cacti Blue) 4th ID in 1969/70. Our casualties were almost always medevaced to the 67th Evac. Hospital located at Qui Nhon back then. So, I’m calling bullshit too on his dust-off to someplace else.

Here’s a little tip, Thomas: you don’t get to claim and wear a Purple Heart just because you think you “earned” it. It has to be awarded, and you were NOT awarded a Purple Heart. In fact, it was DENIED, TWICE. You also were not awarded the Bronze Star Medal, much less four times. Four campaign stars on your Vietnam Service Medal are NOT the same thing and you know it.

From what I could see, he served honorably enough, someone’s got to be the clerk in the support unit, but no, he has to make a hero out of himself believing he’ll never be outed. Some folks can’t just own what they did. I did my tour too(’69-’70), but you won’t hear me making any claims. I was just another guy in OD green doing his job.

I still like the ‘most decorated’ line… even John Kerry had a better rack. Then there’s always (whether you liked him or not) Hackworth’s.

Supply can be boring as hell sometimes and clerks have been known to do some pretty wild things to break the monotony. Take Tommy Boy here. Maybe he took some whipped cream and sprinkles, stuck a candle in his ass and was, in fact, the most decorated soldier in Vietnam. Otherwise, not even close. I especially like his perspective that he “earned” a Purple Heart. I’m not sure what that means but I’m quite sure I don’t want to know.

Thanks for that comment 2/17. I am in a restaurant with my wife and mother in law cracking up like a drunk monkey!

Just another lying REMF and poser stealing the valor of better men. I agree with Jonn that this ass-clown prolly had a minor injury or illness that caused his five day hospitalization. Also, nobody in a position to get the VC/NVA marksmanship badge wanted to “earn” one. Sometimes it was “earned” because you were standing in the wrong place at the wrong time, not because you were doing something heroic. I am quite happy I never received either a wound or a Purple Heart, although I came damn close a couple of times.
