Shawn Daniel; first responder stolen valor

| February 15, 2017

St Louis, Missouri medic, Shawn Daniels has previously claimed that he was at the Boston Marathon when the terrorist attack occurred a few years back. I guess he garnered a lot of attention because of his claims. According to Fox25, it was recently discovered that he was no where near Boston that day;

The department found that Daniel falsely claimed he ran to the scene and was instructed by the National Guard to move patients. St. Louis Fire officials say they determined Daniel was never on scene and did not provide any medical assistance to bombing victims.

The St. Louis Fire Department also determined that the photo Daniel showed his bosses was actually of a Boston firefighter treating an injured civilian at the finish line — something FOX25 reported last month after Investigative Reporter Eric Rasmussen went to Missouri in search of answers.

Daniel’s former manager in New Hampshire and others told FOX25 Investigates last month the 31-year-old paramedic was never there that day.

On the day of the Boston Marathon bombings, Daniel was working in New Hampshire as a paramedic for a private ambulance company, American Medical Response.

St Louis Fire Department issued the following statement;

Stolen Valor first responder. This dude is a trend setter.

  2. Graybeard says:

Shawn Daniels – a pathetic wannabe liar.
Shawn Daniels needs to be laughed out of every EMS in the country.

  3. JacktheJarhead says:

Well, threw you career away. Good Job, Dumbass!

    • 2/17 Air Cav says:

Well, that depends. Shawn the Sheman may end up with a reprimand. It all depends. If manwoman is on probationary status, then gone. If not, there’s a lie and maybe that’s it. If the regs say something about bringing the department into disrepute and it’s an offense that calls for termination, then gone. It all depends.

From the Fox 25 link above:

‘Daniel, who was recently honored at a St. Louis Blues hockey game for his public service, including his claim of heroics, even showed his bosses at the St. Louis Fire Department a photo he claimed showed was of him tending to the wounded in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks as proof.’

Hopefully those things are egregious enough to tip the scales…

      • 26Limabeans says:

“This issue will be dealt with as an internal personnel matter”
The union will save his ass.

      • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Maybe not, some union shops have a clause in their contracts that makes bringing negative publicity upon the employer grounds for termination. I’m sure that blubber-necked little meat gazer has made his days numbered in more ways than one.

  4. 2/17 Air Cav says:

So, they are saying that Shawn is not a woman or that Shawn is in processing to womanhood? I am unclear about that.

  5. Mick says:

We have another target for you. Target is a phony first responder in the open. You’re cleared hot.

Hopefully The Other Whitey will also make a run on this assclown.

  6. 2/17 Air Cav says:

I have no desire to see the movie that’s out now about the bombings but I did see that there’s a couple whose love and perseverance is central to the flick and that they are getting divorced. Sorry, I had to laugh.

  7. Mayhem says:

This is especially disturbing considering that EMT’s, Paramedics hold positions of public trust. For him to lie about his presence at a particularly dark time in American history, one has to wonder what else has he lied about? Integrity and honesty are held in the highest degree in the EMS world. If he is going to lie about being there then he will also lie about any patient care he may have or had not provided to a patient in his care at other times and places.

    • 2/17 Air Cav says:

Yes, there’s that. There are lies and then there are lies. Everyone lies in one form or fashion. (“No, I had only two beers. Really.”) A reputation for lying, and this Shawn Thing is on his way if he’s not already arrived there, is something quite different, rendering a person’s word worthless and trustworthiness reading zero.

  8. SSG Kane says:

I could see how he could get confused. New Hampshire isn’t that far from Boston, and I’m sure he was listening to the events on the radio, and I’m sure there were discussions about NH responders making the trip down there to provide assistance, and what with all the stress of that day and the PTSD by proxy, his psyche generated these true to him memories…

  9. Fyrfighter says:

2/17, I agree it could get swept under the rug, but by putting out a statement like that, St, Louis Fire has now put themselves on the hook for the outcome of this situation. The First Responder Community is a small world, as was made obvious by this clown getting busted, and if the department fails to do the right thing, news of that will get around just as fast, and the honor and integrity they mention will be called into question for the entire department. I hope that the potential repercussions for them if they don’t follow through doesn’t even factor in, and that they just do the right thing because it’s right. After over 30 yrs in the Fire Service, I’ve met lots of people, some who were there on 9/11, some who worked the pile afterwards, and at many other large incidents. Knowing these people has never once made me feel the need to claim that I was there with them. With apologies to Ex-OS2…

    • The Other Whitey says:

Does FFBoR apply in Missouri? If so, shitcanning this loser, and I have no doubt that pretty much all of SLFD wants to do exactly that, could be very tricky. They would have to prove that he’d lied for personal gain. Any misstep by the Department in going after him, or appearance by his union representation of not trying hard enough, could blow up in their face. Either way, they’re going to look bad for having ever been associated with this dickhead.

A couple years back, my Department had a captain with a long history of bad ideas up north who went full retard and murdered his stripper girlfriend (he also had a wife, who was allegedly okay with the girlfriend, really fucking weird) then went on the run for a few days, getting his face and place of employment all over the news in the western states. After a week, he was terminated for being AWOL, cue hundreds of Internet troll comments from the public about how apparently being a murderer wasn’t enough to get fired. Of course, innocent until proven guilty in court and all that, you can’t fire someone over an untried charge, so AWOL was the only thing they could legally get him for. Otherwise, the state gets hit with a wrongful-termination lawsuit that we lose even as fucknuts goes off to Corcoran for life.

These guys are the ultimate Blue Falcons.

From the Fox 25 link above:

‘Daniel, who was recently honored at a St. Louis Blues hockey game for his public service, including his claim of heroics…’

In your estimation, would this (hopefully) qualify as lying for personal gain?

I’m thinking that if he got free tickets and/or any other bennies as a result of being ‘honored’ at that St. Louis Blues hockey game, that may be enough to sink him.

      • Fyrfighter says:

TOW, my department now has a chief, that was apparently at the Fire Academy with the individual you referenced above.. small world huh?

        • The Other Whitey says:

Yeah, the guy was an instructor. Taught my Firefighter-II and Company Officer Academies. Like I said, he had a long history of bad ideas involving strippers. Didn’t see the axe murder coming, though.

          • Fyrfighter says:

Yeah, that’s what we’d heard. we just hire this Chief, i think he was a Captain out your way. I’m guessing he may have been one of your instructors as well. The guy we got was caught up in some drinking on duty thing related to n academy graduation, along with other stuff i believe..

            • The Other Whitey says:

Oh, believe me, ol’ Captain Moe’s departures from acceptable conduct went way beyond that (pre-axe murder, that is).

      • Graybeard says:

I know the unions are strong in the State of Misery.

The union bosses will probably try to protect him – and move him up the union org chart.

  10. 2/17 Air Cav says:

I don’t think it will be swept under the rug. I’m just wondering whether management’s hands will be tied. That reputation thing is the kicker. Sheman is done, whether fired or not.

    • Fyrfighter says:

Very true. Yeah, if the Department, like many others has a policy regarding “conduct unbecoming” or something along those lines, he’ll be toast, as he should be.

  11. Silentium Est Aureum says:

If the union in STL had an ounce of balls, they’d say in the words of Blazing Saddles’ Reverend Johnson:

    “Son, you’re on your own.”

    • UpNorth says:

I don’t know if Missouri has a “duty of fair representation” law. If they do, they can’t walk away. As much as they would want to.

      • Silentium Est Aureum says:

I know when I was in a union with a couple of former employers (in different states), basically, if you screwed the pooch badly enough such as EEO issues, fraud, egregious safety violations, the unions could and would cut you loose.

        • UpNorth says:

True, but the union has to, at the least, go through the motions. If there is the Duty to Fair Rep law. It’s actually best to go through the motions, anyway.
That said, like has been mentioned, lying on an application, fraud, theft, assault, all of those and more are just about automatic firing offenses.

        • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

I’ve been in a Union and seen where a few screwed the pooch badly enough to get canned, it happens and let’s hope it happens to that lying dingleberry.

  12. RGQ says:

Maybe this shit stain can apply at All Points Logistics and become their onsite medic. I hear the DRG loves to practice mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on each other.

  13. HMC Ret says:

He’s destroyed his reputation. That will call into question pretty much everything he claims in the future. Lose your reputation as a health care worker and, well, there isn’t much reason to remain in the field. At a minimum he will be shunned by his peers. I wouldn’t want to be working in the profession under those circumstances and probable hostile working environment. Trust is paramount. It’s sad he made that choice but it’s good he gets culled from the profession, which may have to happen.

  14. Medic09 says:

Many EMS systems across the US are notoriously lax or sloppy in checking backgrounds and qualifications of applicants and employees. I’m sure Shawn/Shawna will have little problem finding another place to call professional home. Sad as that is.

  16. Sparks says:

Lying shit sacks gonna be…lying shit sacks.

  17. Yef says:

This shawn daniels dude looks like a “conservative” radio commentator that I can’t stand, and during the election was talkin’crap about the Trumpminator that was not true at all, and now wants to be cool again.
Eff you Glenn Beck. Get off the net!
    Stolen valor paramedic look-alike.

  18. A Proud Infidel®™ says:

    Fucking liying-assed pissbucket.

  19. ex-OS2 says:

Taylor, you may want to stop spamming this post with irrelevant videos.

There is always a weekend thread on Friday’s for miscellaneous items.

  20. David says:

    Enough with the redundant posts

  21. 2/17 Air Cav says:

This Taylor Kent needs banning. The reason is apparent.

  22. Green Thumb says:

And dude was in another state?

  23. Wilted Willy says:

This stolen valor ass clown should be placed very deep into any memorial honoring those who were killed on that terrible day. Why do these poser clowns feel the need to act as they do? I don’t care if you are a ditch digger, the world needs ditch diggers, just be proud for what you do, there is no need to bullshit everyone and bring shame to your family and your profession!!

  24. Usafvet509 says:

Lmao. AMR is as AMR does, nuff said

    • Eden says:

What can you tell me about AMR? They have an increasing presence here. Would you recommend against considering employment with them?

  25. Gingerj says:

I sadly went to high school with this kid. What an embarrassment.

  26. 2/17 Air Cav says:

AND THEN THERE’S THIS FIREMAN. He was shot by a neighbor who is now in the joint doing 20 years. The fireman was apparently well liked b/c he was out about two years and never missed a paycheck, thanks to donated leave. Here’s the thing. He wasn’t just shot: he was shot 14 times! He’s back at work now and loving life–and his job. He’s one man I’d love to know.
