Shane Ladner in court

| March 16, 2017 | 62 Comments

You probably remember Shane Ladner, whose lies about a Purple Heart award put him and his wife on a float in Midland, Texas which collided with a train and cost his wife her leg. He was a Holly Springs, Georgia police officer at the time. When his lies were exposed by our friend Randy Travis at Fox 5 Atlanta, the police department fired him. That all happened nearly four years ago.

Ladner tried to sue Fox 5 and Randy last year for libel, and the case was tossed by the judge.

Now Ladner is facing criminal trial. Initially, Ladner claimed that he was awarded the Purple Heart for a wound he received in Panama during Operation Just Cause, but he was in high school during that operation, so he changed his story to drug interdiction operations in Central America, even though no one was awarded a Purple Heart during those missions.

He was in court yesterday, according to WSB-TV 2;

Shane Ladner faces theft by deception, false swearing and false statement charges from receiving free Purple Heart license plates for years.

Tuesday’s hearing was to determine what evidence can be used against him in the trial.

The state wants to include evidence of alleged tall tales that Ladner told to friends and family about being a sniper and army ranger involved in the Black Hawk Down battle in Somalia.

The commander of the drug interdiction operations in Honduras is testifying against Ladner;

Ladner’s attorney says he can prove his client was awarded a Purple Heart, but the general who was over Ladner says that can’t be the case because there was no combat.

“None of my people that were assigned to that base at my time as commander participated in any combat operations. It did not occur,” retired Gen. John Walsh said.

[…]

“Even Delta Force had to check in with me. There was no conceivable way that anybody could have been conducting any operation without my knowledge,” he said.

Here’s the forged DD214 that Ladner has been flashing around;

Compare that to his FOIA results;

I don’t know how his lawyer thinks that he can salvage his client from this morass of lies, but it should be entertaining.

  1. Hack Stone says:

The lawyer will be employing the Bernath Maneuver. This should be entertaining.

  2. Bobo says:

Looking forward to finally seeing his ass in jail.

  3. Silentium Est Aureum says:

And here I thought it was a felony for a lawyer to lie presenting testimony.

He keeps pushing that Ladner has a PH, some folks on the bar diciplinary board might take a dim view of that.

    • Hack Stone says:

Maybe he will claim that it is an Honorary Purple Heart. That’s Step 2 of the Bernath Maneuver.

    • Martinjmpr says:

Oh, no, that’s not how it works.

What will happen is that when Ladner is convicted (or more likely when Ladner cops a plea because I can’t see taking this to trial since he will lose, and lose badly, unless the DA just wants to make an example of him) and admits to his lies the lawyer will say he was shocked – SHOCKED I SAY! – that Ladner lied to him.

  4. LiRight says:

Jonn, you write above; “I donā€™t know how his lawyer thinks that he can salvage his client from this morass….”

At $250 to $300/hour – I’ll bet that attorney could care less.

  5. Combat Historian says:

If I remember correctly, this lying POS was also telling war stories about serving in Iraq in 2004, when he and his mobilized unit actually was stationed at Fort Benning…

  6. HMCS(FMF) ret says:

Hey SHANE LADNER… how you doin’, butt sniper? Getting ready for that CRIMINAL TRIAL next month for your STOLEN VALOR claims? Got a General all pissed off at you for lying? How about the wife? She paid a Hell of a price for your lies, COCKSUCKER!

Here’s hoping that you’re found guilty and spending a long stretch in a local poundyouinthe ass jail and meeting the proprietors of the BTJT Deli (home of the prison COCKMEAT SAMMICH).

Remember, SHANE LADNER… former cops don’t do well in prison, FUCKING STOLEN VALOR ASS HAMSTER!

  7. Mick says:

    ex-OS2:

Here’s another one for ya. Target is marked by a phony Purple Heart, surrounded by an ever-increasing pile of poser bullshit.

    You are cleared hot.

  8. Guard Bum says:

He put in a lot of years, had some awards to be proud of, and now walks away with nothing but shame and a maimed wife.

Valor thief Shane Ladner, a man devoid of honor.

  9. Sgt Fon says:

I mean come on guys, he does have a National Defence Medal, maybe he is legit!

I say we should give Shane ” Big Black Bubbas Bitch” Landers the benefit of the doubt. you know he must be a super secret sky diving squirrel if even a General don’t about his combat!

I say we give him the help he needs and get Bernath Esq. to defend him!

  10. Frankie Cee says:

Shane Ladner, you are a piece of shit.
Is this turd’s wife even still with him? His lies cost her a leg. That is a pretty steep price to pay for hanging with a lyin’ assed, loser Stolen Valorist.
Claiming Operation Gothic Serpent could easily get his ass kicked up between his shoulder blades.

  11. AverageNCO says:

Ladner just needs to put his cock-and-bull story on LetGo.com His excuse is not doing him any good.

  12. Ex-PH2 says:

    What a scumbag.

  13. Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

Karma has found another appropriate recipient. He will hopefully receive his full measure due at this time.

  14. Carlton G. Long says:

Fox 5’s investigation was deeper than than the holler.

  15. A Proud InfidelĀ®ā„¢ says:

    The time is a-coming:

    *Cell door slams shut*

Cellmate: Ya in for a while.

    Ladner: Yeah.

Cellmate: Gonna be like we’re married, ya gonna be the Husband or Wife?

    Ladner: HUSBAND!

Cellmate: Fine, NOW GET OVER HERE AND SUCK YOUR WIFE’S DICK, BITCH!

  16. Army 13B/92S/02M says:

His lawyer must of went to the Barracks School of Law if he thinks he can win . …..I’m thinking about doing a Freedom of Information on myself so I can get a list of all my assignments all types up in chronological order ,I’m too lazy to do it myself

    • Chief says:

tell ya what, If I were you, I most definitely would. I was called out for stolen valor not long ago after being seen in town wearing full dress (full medals). long story short, they filed a FOIA request through NPRC and my records came back incomplete. Granted, I’m still in and NPRC doesn’t have my most recent DD214s, but still. Make sure you cover your basis while you can. If you’re still active/reserve/guard/whatever, now is the time to ensure your record is correct before some asshat tries to call you out.

    • Planet Ord says:

(Hit the report comment by mistake.)

I have a few medals that aren’t on my DD214. they were authorized after I ETS’d. DD 214s can be incomplete. Sometimes you may not even know it.

  17. Zippo says:

Leave his legs alone…Take his dick so he can’t procreate !!……

  18. 2/17 Air Cav says:

He may never see jail, let alone prison, but he will be branded for life if he is convicted of one or more of the charges. Who would want to hire a man who is dishonest and deceitful? His atty’s saying that he will prove Ladner rec’d a PH can come only one way: by Ladner’s testifying, because there will be no source independent of Ladner for one to have been obtained. And if Ladner testifies, his goose will be cooked because he can then be subject, as any witness, to the tests for truthfulness and veracity. This house is falling down around Ladner. He’ll take a deal, if one is made available to him.

  19. Atkron says:

I wonder how many other Lawyers and Cons are anxiously awaiting the outcome of this trial. After all, if he was willing to lie about his background, who’s to say he didn’t lie about charges that put someone away?

If I were a Lawyer, I would check all my files to see if SHANE LADNER was named anywhere.

    • Poetrooper says:

Every single conviction involving this asshole anywhere in the process is now subject to review for possible false claims or perjured testimony. How much do you suppose this is ultimately going to cost the taxpayers?

      • Planet Ord says:

That was my immediate thought when all this broke. Some smart defense attorneys could file a legitimate appeal for their clients, but only if he is found guilty. That will definitely be a Pandora’s Box. An expensive one.

    • SMH says:

Dude, about all this attorney is good at is filing motions for delays….I bet he hasn’t even pulled any of his case history.

  20. Duane says:

I can’t believe that all of you missed it – he’s going to claim that he identifies as someone that has received a Purple Heart. I mean – that seems to be working for everything else, doesn’t it? And his Lawyer identifies as someone that has a brain.

  21. Skippy says:

    What a JACK-ASS
