The 76-year-old woman says she saw a man without a shirt on attempting to enter her home. She warned him she had a gun and wasn’t afraid to shoot. She proved just that by shooting a warning shot in the grass, and police say she had that right.
“She’s in her upper 70s, and she has every right to defend herself. That’s her castle and in Indiana, the castle doctrine is in effect,” Sgt. Jason Cullum said.
Police say her alarm company alerted them of the break-in. She said she wasn’t trying to shoot the intruder, just send a message to never come back again. He was gone when police arrived.
From Lawton, Oklahoma, a DOT (dead over there);
Authorities say it happened around 8:30 this morning at the corner of Southwest 5th and I Avenue. When they got to the scene, they found a man identified as Rocky Stamper unresponsive. He was taken to the hospital where he later died. Officers took the homeowner to the police department to interview her as their investigation continues.

When officers arrived at the apartment complex they found two men lying on the ground between I and G Buildings, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
An investigation revealed that one of the men was a victim of the home invasion, who had exchanged gunfire with multiple suspects. The other injured man was one of the suspects.
Master Cpl. Hoffman said that several hours later, a third person suffering from gunshot wounds arrived at Christiana Hospital. It was discovered that this person was also involved in the home invasion and exchange of gunfire that followed.
