Thursday morning feel good stories

| April 20, 2017

From Evansville, Indiana;

The 76-year-old woman says she saw a man without a shirt on attempting to enter her home. She warned him she had a gun and wasn’t afraid to shoot. She proved just that by shooting a warning shot in the grass, and police say she had that right.

“She’s in her upper 70s, and she has every right to defend herself. That’s her castle and in Indiana, the castle doctrine is in effect,” Sgt. Jason Cullum said.

Police say her alarm company alerted them of the break-in. She said she wasn’t trying to shoot the intruder, just send a message to never come back again. He was gone when police arrived.

From Lawton, Oklahoma, a DOT (dead over there);

Authorities say it happened around 8:30 this morning at the corner of Southwest 5th and I Avenue. When they got to the scene, they found a man identified as Rocky Stamper unresponsive. He was taken to the hospital where he later died. Officers took the homeowner to the police department to interview her as their investigation continues.

From Dover, Delaware, it looks like two-thirds of the gunshot persons were criminals;

When officers arrived at the apartment complex they found two men lying on the ground between I and G Buildings, both suffering from gunshot wounds.

An investigation revealed that one of the men was a victim of the home invasion, who had exchanged gunfire with multiple suspects. The other injured man was one of the suspects.

Master Cpl. Hoffman said that several hours later, a third person suffering from gunshot wounds arrived at Christiana Hospital. It was discovered that this person was also involved in the home invasion and exchange of gunfire that followed.

  1. Doc Savage says:

    As I said before…Oklahoma is rapidly becoming the state to avoid for the budding young thug community….its top occupational hazard seems to be DOT/DRT.

  2. HMC Ret says:

    Ditto: It appears Oklahoma is attempting to stamp out crime.

    Also, bringing a rock to a gun fight is not advised.

  3. Dapandico says:

    Rocky start to the day in Lawton

  4. AW1Ed says:

    What is this “warning shot” of which she speaks?

    • Doc Savage says:

      I once heard tell of an ol crazy fella…went by the name of “Unca Joe Biden”..said you should fore a 12 gauge warning shot.

      But, Im sure it was just a myth.

    • Eden says:

      This poor, misguided soul believes the myth that criminals will always leave you alone if you fire a shot into the ground to warn them.

    • Fjardeson says:

      Sorry, due to the current state of the economy, and the cost of ammunition, warning shots will no longer be provided.

  5. Deplorable B Woodman says:

    I’m sure the old woman was trying to be kind, but she missed. You say she hit the ground? Yes, but she still missed…..the perp. Ammo is expensive, don’t waste it.

  6. David says:

    Thought warning shots were supposed to be center of mass – “stop or I’ll do it again” .

  7. Pinto Nag says:

    I sound like a skipping record tonight…But home invasion is becoming more and more violent. No citizen in this country should have to imagine, much less actually face, multiple organized attackers in their home. When these bastards are caught, they need to be hauled outside, put on their knees, and executed. Period. There comes a point where a thug forfeits the right to be treated with any kind of dignity, and home invasion is well beyond that point.
