Biggest head in television gets done in by his little head

| April 20, 2017 | 94 Comments

FOX News has ousted Bill O’Reilly, the smug, smur-king of evening talk-TV for more than a decade for issues relating to sexual harassment of female employees. The rumors had floated about for years that the supercilious O’Reilly was as big a jerk behind the scenes as he all too frequently was while on camera, allegedly hitting on female employees for sexual favors for much of the time he was a FOX ratings king. The pushy, public persona presented on television made such rumors difficult to disbelieve, leading Ol’ Poe to believe that this day of reckoning was simply a matter of time: another arrogant fool brought to an ignominious fate by thinking with his little head rather than the oversized one O’Reilly possesses. Somehow, to this age- seasoned Scots-Irishman, the term “Big Dumb Mick,” seems to fit quite well here.

Big Bill has his viewers, assuredly, me being one of ‘em sometimes, but it was always a challenge to get through an entire show without having to be constrained from throwing a drink glass at the tube when the overbearing Son of Hibernia haughtily talked over some guest expert, informing them that they didn’t know what they were talking about within their own field of expertise because he, O’Reilly, knew better; or to stay in the room when he began another shameless shilling session of his popular but poorly-written books. There’s not another Irishmen alive that Ol’ Poe has called a sorry ass son of a bitch more times than Bill O’Reilly.

O’Reilly’s demise is a victory for the libs who threatened his advertisers with boycotts when talk of his sexual harassment activities began to become more publicly discussed. They have unseated the king, no question. But it’s going to be a Pyrrhic victory for them because FOX has already announced that O’Reilly’s replacement is the far more likable and far better informed talk show host, Tucker Carlson. While O’Reilly treated both friendly and hostile guests with contempt, Carlson saves his devastating verbal flayings for those cocky liberals who try to treat him and all conservatism with contempt. Carlson’s far more politically intuitive as well as being far more entertaining.
But in spite of all that, you know, I’m really going to….

Heh, bet you thought Ol’ Poe was gonna say he’s gonna miss the jerk. Nope, he’s just another pompous prick done in by his little prick.

The last time I watched even a minute of O’Reilly was several years ago. That was probably the third, maybe fourth, time I ever watched some part of his show. The guy turned my stomach. Phuk ’em. I don’t know what he did but it would seem no unwanted toucjing was involved or criminal charges would have resulted. It was all about the money, I guess, but I’m not up on the situation–nor do I care to be.

  2. 2/17 Air Cav says:

Toucjing is nearly the same as touching. I kinda like it. I think I’ll keep it, maybe hyphenated: touch-jing.

  3. Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

No great loss in my opinion.

I’ve seen the defenders of this boorish thug elsewhere, why people want to defend this behavior is incomprehensible to me. I was taught as a child to respect women, it’s never occurred to me that I had any right to play grab ass with a woman who was not my girlfriend or wife.

Arrogance almost always comes with its own karmic payback at some point. Bill O’Reilly once made fun of Bill Moyers by stating he’d missed seeing Mr. Moyers in the war zones of the Falkands conflict, which is understandable since Mr. O’Reilly was never in the war zones of the Falklands conflict either. Mr. O’Reilly shares more with Mr. Brian WIlliams than a profession. They share the same casual relationship with the truth, two stolen valor assholes claiming that which they did not do.

    Fuck Bill O”Reilly.

  4. sj says:

Only time I watched was if I saw Dennis Miller was on as I scrolled by and even that got tiresome.

  5. Dave Hardin says:

There is no way Bill gets laid without using his position to do so. I am always intrigued when people seem to put so much emphasis on sexual conduct.

I could give a shit less how he gets his dick wet. Its completely acceptable for the women on FOX to flaunt their sexuality for attention and fame…but if they act on it…its outrage.

Put me around a bunch of women in short skirts and cleavage and then expect me not to act on it. Lots of luck with that.

I was never a huge fan of Bill, his departure is a good thing for conservatives. I think the days of Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Maddow, and their ilk are coming to an end.

Watching that shit from either side makes me feel like I am at a convention of Flat Earthers or some Evangelical end times prophecy convention.

I guess its a good thing most people are so uptight about who gets their dick wet and where…I would have been broke years ago if they didn’t have a need to keep it all secret.

    • Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

I doubt when you say, “you’d act on it” that you are suggesting you’re incapable of understanding that a woman in short skirt showing some cleavage who says no to you actually means no and would prefer you not to call her later and masturbate on the phone? That activities such as unwelcome advances are considered a civil liability for litigation and are actually criminal in some states as are obscene phone calls?

I don’t care how he gets his dick wet either as long as it’s with a consenting adult, Mr. O’Reilly doesn’t seem quite clear on the concept of consent. Couple that with being a stolen valor lying fuck and this couldn’t happen to a nicer hypocrite.

      • Yef says:

        Whoa whoa, stolen valor?
        What did he claim?

And don’t care about the dude. He lost me with his softball interview on the Community Organizer in Chief, but I didn’t know he was a valor thief!
        Linky please?

        • Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

He claimed he was in a war zone in the Falklands and made fun of Bill Moyers for having not seen Moyers there “in the warzone”. The implication is that O’Reilly was on the Falklands Islands, but O’Reilly want’s to parse the statement to mean all of Argentia was the war zone…sort of like Brian WIlliams seeing bullet holes and thinking that he’d been in combat.

          • The Other Whitey says:

I didn’t know about that one. But then again, I never cared to look up O’Reilly’s bio. That’s certainly some chickenshit on his part. Not terribly surprising, either.

        • Ex-PH2 says:

Read for context, Yes. He sniped at Bill Moyers (didn’t see you in the Falklands) when he wasn’t there, either. He implies, therefore, that he WAS there when he wasn’t.

      • Dave Hardin says:

Me? Nah, phone sex is not my thing. For someone to call and masturbate while on the phone with the person they are talking to knowing it…takes cooperation. They had to stay on the phone and engage in the conversation.

Two years ago they busted a guy for “Sex Trafficking” in NJ. Lots of news reports and sympathy for the victims. A week later they caught two of the women breaking into the house they had been “held captive” in while they were attempting to get the $50,000 they had hidden.

The bar has been lowered so far as to what an “unwelcomed” advance is it no longer means anything. How he hell do you know if an advance is unwelcome until you make it? If every man that was intentionally told “not interested” just stopped…there would be a lot less married men in this world.

“I am not consenting but will stay on the phone while you masturbate” is sketchy at best.

I just don’t buy the innocence of women who use their tits and ass to gain attention. They just peddle their “victimhood” for more attention.

But, if I bring that topic up people swing the topic all the way over to “so you are blaming the victim”. No, I am not.

I deal with men hitting on my wife all the time. Some can become a pain in the ass. We deal with it, but she dresses in a manner that attracts attention. To get all pissed off when someone acts on it is fucking nonsense. I doubt she will stay on the phone while you masturbate…but one never knows.

There are some guys that could walk out the door while it was raining pussy and get hit in the head by a dick. Bill seems to be that guy. He got his pecker checked and should have. I am just not jumping on the “poor victims” bandwagon in this case.

        • Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

Now that last analogy made me laugh outloud….thanks for that image…

I assume unwanted means after you ask and she says, thanks but no thanks you’re too fucking dense to just walk away and enjoy one of the countless other women who will invariably say yes.

I’m no stud but I never felt the need after being rejected to phone the woman rejecting and masturbate while I spoke with her..there always seemed to be plenty of women who didn’t find me repulsive even found a couple silly enough to marry me…

Unlike the whores in your example these women claim to have actually said no which is why I suspect Fox gave some of them the $13 million in the lawsuit instead of taking it to court. He said/she saids are pretty easy to win in court…we’ve been there and done that.

He said and 14 she saids not so much….that’s where I’m thinking he’s a fucktard who doesn’t understand “consent”….but that’s just me.

          • Dave Hardin says:

Make no mistake, I agree that Bill has issues with his willy. He probably never had a real woman play with it when he was younger.

I just have an issue with ALL the attention being given to his conduct and none to theirs.

My guess is there are a lot more women out there that played his game but we will never hear from them because they got what they wanted out of it.

I can promise you this, for a lot less than $13 million he can masturbate while calling any number I own.

The guy is a fucking idiot, but everyone using the old, “are you saying they asked for it” defense is just getting a bit old when it is applied to every “unwelcome advance” that get regurgitated.

Best rejection I ever had came while in a woman’s apartment. We were doing some light petting on the couch for a while and I asked, “Do you want to go to your bedroom?”

She replied, “No, I would rather stay out here with you”.

    • Ex-PH2 says:

Will you two please take it out into the parking lot? My sandwich is more important than both of you.

    • IDC SARC says:

“Put me around a bunch of women in short skirts and cleavage”

I fapped just reading that…at work…with the door open

  6. TankBoy says:

I have to agree. The only part of the O’Reilly show that I watched in recent years were the Dennis Miller segments. I usually have Fox News on in the hotel room when I travel. When Bill came on, so did the mute button.

  7. HMC Ret says:

O’Reilly came across as pompous, holier than thou and now he’s been outed as a pig. Any respect I had for him went out the window about six months ago when, during a taped interview (live ?) he called George Will a hack. Will is not a hack. I hope O’Reilly pays out the ying yang for his transgressions. Well, bye …

    • Luddite4change says:

The rumor is Fox gave him a $25M severance, roughly equal to one years salary on his current contract, safe to assume there probably is a non-compete as part of that arrangement. My guess, since he now has time and no other brand to concern himself with, is he will play a much higher stakes legal game with his accusers.

  8. The Other Whitey says:

I’d be lying if I said I’ve never found O’Reilly at least briefly entertaining, and I actually liked “Killing Patton,” but I kinda always figured this fiasco was inevitable.

  9. 2/17 Air Cav says:

Lars Taylor must be in shock. I’m sure he pegged all of us TAHers as faithful fans of the show. There must be one here somewhere. I’ll keep looking.

  10. Deckie says:

As a cadet back in 2003 I went to a book signing to get a copy for my old man. He looked at me like I was a turd stuffed into dress blues, scribbled his name in the front page and tossed the book at me before one of his assistants curtly showed me the door. Came across then and there as a giant smug douchebag.

I told my old man what a prick he was and we never watched his show again. Should have burned that book.

  11. Ex-PH2 says:

Gee, Bill’s an asshole? And worse yet, an asshole around women? So what’s new? He’s a neanderthaloid leftover from yellow journalism. His best episodes on the TV were outmatched by the trash gossip at the grocery store checkout stand.

It’s unfortunate that he never had me on his so-called show. Someone should have told him to his face on live TV that he’s an asshole, as has been and always will be.

Those women who complained about him? I doubt he did much more than make sleazy comments about skirt length and boobs, but he has no manners as others of you have indicated.

I thought he was a crashing bore, ignorant on a lot of subjects. Fortunately, I quite watching TV when my quit working, so I never missed the idiot.

  12. Club Manager says:

What a bunch of righteous __________ (insert word depending if you agree or disagree. Come on folks. An attractive women stylishly dressed, regardless if she is in a relationship or not voluntarily having an expensive dinner with a divorced man, tablecloths, candles, wine maybe drinks first, service staff all over the service in anticipation of the gratuity, friendly behavior and conversation and SHOCK!!! he hits on you. Or this old guy makes your career by featuring you on his program meaning very rich) and you are offended he wants a sympathy lay or compliments you on your attire, boobs, etc. Maybe he didn’t have the smoothness of a certain LTC is overheard one day in the HQ telling a hottie, “nice jeans” where I would have said, “nice ass”, but everyone is SHOCKED. What PC bullshit.

    • Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

How bout he just hits on her in her dressing room after entering uninvited and then calls later to jerkoff while he’s talking to her? All after she said, thanks, but no thanks?

      Still think it’s PC bullshit?

Here’s hoping your daughter avoids someone like you who thinks an old guy who makes unwanted advances is the victim of “PC Bullshit”.

The cases were settled for 13 million nobody dishes out 13 million if there’s no hint of malice in his actions. I suspect what we aren’t allowed to know is lot more damaging than the nonsense appearing on the news to date. NDAs make it so we won’t know what was in those court papers, all we get is a known liar’s yapping about how it’s all a frame up….

Any other stolen valor asshole and everyone here would be all over him like white on rice, but because some of you value his commentary you’re willing to overlook his lies about being in combat…sounds a bit…hmm what’s that word?

      • Club Manager says:

Veritas, when I did a Fox & Friends a few years back (i.e. boating safety for the CG Aux) there were locks on the cheap dressing room doors but your point is taken. What I cannot figure out is how the women he was speaking to on the phone knew he was jacking off? If I recall, she said it sounded like he was. WTF? The problem I have with these accusations is they are stale not current. If he did something inappropriate and the complaint was filed within a week or two, okay, but 3-4 years, come on. These are not bashful women. As far as the payouts, who knows and who cares. As far as for one of my adult daughters, had a problem with a guy once and after I flew up to Seattle, located him and introduced him to my 9mm up close and personal, never had another problem with him.

  13. Yef says:

Tucker Carlson is going to take his spot?
Awesome. Most promising dude I have seen on youtube.
He really crushes the “liberal argument”.

    • IDC SARC says:

He’s entertaining for sure. I dunno how they get people to come on his show. I wouldn’t go on there to defend the position that Hydrogen is an abundant element.

..unless there was both whiskey and pookie involved in the compensation package for enduring the thrashing.

  14. 2/17 Air Cav says:

“Here are some of the things Bill O’Reilly has done, allegedly, to the women he has worked with throughout his two decades at the Fox News Channel:

approaching an African American woman whose desk was near his, referring to her as “hot chocolate,” and grunting like a “wild boar”
offering multiple unwanted sexual advances and lewd comments to a woman producer on his show, phoning her “when it sounded as if he was masturbating” and describing “various sexual fantasies”
suggesting that she “buy a vibrator,” “engage in phone sex or a threesome with him,” and listen to “the details of his alleged sexual encounters with a cabana masseuse, airline stewardesses, and Thai sex-show workers”
threatening to make any woman who dared to complain about his behavior “pay so dearly that she’ll wish she’d never been born”

Are all of those okay with you, Club Manager? If not, which ones are? I don’t see the one you described. Maybe I missed it. That’s not political correctness. That’s being a horny, rude, old asshole.

  15. A Proud Infidel®™ says:

I don’t think I’ve watched O’Reilly in the past few years other than tuning in for a minute or two while channel surfing, but OH WELL, I thought he was quite an arrogant turd.

  16. OWB says:

As much as I hate the Cult of the Perpetually Offended, those idiots who seem to spend their lives discovering imagined situations with which to become outraged, folks who deliberately and knowingly use their power to get what they want are just as bad or worse. Doesn’t even matter if what they want is sex, comped stuff or something else.

It is also true that if you dress like a slut and act like a slut you really shouldn’t be surprised when you are treated like a slut. Yes, there are lots of attractive females at Fox. Not all of them go on camera dressed provocatively and flaunting their sexuality. Gretchen Carlson, for instance, didn’t project a flirty vibe.

But, I don’t watch all that much TV, so my impressions could easily be off base.

Meanwhile, since O’Reilly’s shtick wasn’t my thing, I won’t miss him at all. If he is guilty of even a small portion of what he is accused of doing, his removal is well earned and overdue.

    • OldSoldier54 says:

” … folks who deliberately and knowingly use their power to get what they want … ”

      Bingo.

I have nothing but contempt for these types. O’Reilly lost me as a fan years ago. At first, he seemed a breath of fresh air after the non-stop smoke-blowing of all the Leftist talking heads on the alphabet networks. After a while, I noticed inconsistency in his take on various issues (also, noticed the really softball interview with Obama).

I finally decided that he was more interested in the $$$$$$, than in “looking out for the folks,” his often stated purpose in the Factor.

Hannity lost me VERY quickly. I hate it when someone asks a question and wants to provide the answer also. Beyond rude.

      As for Tucker Carlson …

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! Living proof that one can be confrontational without being a butt-hole.

  17. Vexatious Defendant says:

    Irish Bashing!

Jonn, please open a special tab atop your page “Safe Space”.

Oh … here link it to this:

  18. Thunderstixx says:

As a male nurse I worked with tons of women over the years.
I learned early on that you cannot enter a med room with one single woman and let the door close. I always kept it open and took other people with me when I needed to do a treatment on any female patient no matter who or what they were.
I was accused numerous times of sexual harassment and none of them stuck as I only ever did it to CNA’s or other nurses that weren’t doing their jobs.
Nothing stuck to me, although there were a couple of fairly close calls including a woman that was showing off her new tattoo on her lower back and I called it exactly what it was, a tramp stamp…

  19. HMCS(FMF) ret says:

With all of the shit surrounding O’Reilly and his behavior over the last few years, I was wondering when he’d be shown the door or get the shit knocked out of him for making an inappropriate comment around a woman. I’m glad to see him gone… but he’ll show up somewhere in a few years, like a turn in a punchbowl.

Now, if Fox would get rid of Gerry Rivers….

  20. Ex-PH2 says:

Hmmm…. sexual harassment goes way, back doesn’t it?

  21. CC Senor says:

At Least Jesse Watters got his own show before the fall.

  22. David says:

I rarely watch Fox News except when traveling and stuck in a hotel, and even then I’ll watch a rerun of Fast ‘n Loud before I would him. I think it says something that “he makes lots of money for his company” outweighs the fact that he was such an asshole that the company had to pay out $13 million to various women over the years as a cost of doing business – and essentially ignored it. Says poor things about him, Fox, AND society.

Oh, and it is worth noting that this wasn’t “he made a pass which was rejected and now she is whining” – this is more like “he made passes, and when rejected, he got people fired and ruined their careers.” Maybe it’s because I have three daughters… but I think he shouldn’t be fired, he should be kneecapped. And sterilized.

    • Ex-PH2 says:

I respectfully disagree, David. I think he should be ostracized by every expensive restaurant that caters to him, and on down to the cheapest greasy spoon roadside diner to be found in Jersey. And even at McDonald’s driveup window, they should drop his order in the dirt when he pulls up.

  23. Perry Gaskill says:

It’s interesting that O’Reilly getting canned seems to be part of a larger sea change at Fox News. Underneath the noise from Our Sisters of Perpetual Victimhood popping champagne corks, there’s also the sound of knives being sharpened, and the question of who’s next.

Which, when you think about it, is strange considering Fox News was started by Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes with the simple idea that ratings are better when the news is read by a hot blonde with big bumpers than by some pencil-necked dork with a j-school degree. News as entertainment; the anchor as celebrity.

Flash forward 20 years, and all those ladies who might have found alternate employment as pole dancers are now apparently pissed because they think Fox News management doesn’t consider them direct descendants of Edward R. Murrow.

    • Poetrooper says:

Perry, you are correct but only partially so; Rupert and Roger did indeed base their visual business plan on Mexican weather reporting but what dragged in most viewers like the conservative types here at TAH was their decision to set themselves apart from the Nets by taking a center-right political stance. That, more than any other factor, is what made them a huge success. The babes were just lagniappe and to Aile’s credit, he hired some damned smart, fine-looking women.

      • Perry Gaskill says:

There are a lot of moving parts to this, Poe. It would probably take a book-length manuscript to describe all of them. For example, it’s not a surprise Fox News tilts to the conservative considering that Ailes was a key media strategist in the Nixon campaign in ’68.

It might also be pointed out that while it’s true Ailes hired some damned smart fine-looking women, you can also ask this question: Did Ailes ever put a damned smart butt-ugly woman in front of a camera? Pick your priority. Part of the problem too with hiring hotties is that they become celebrities, and it’s very difficult for a celebrity to work on a story and avoid becoming part of it.

Still another interesting question is why this stuff is happening now? Part of it probably has been building over a period of years, and the recent Clinton campaign acted as a catalyst. There’s also apparently a power struggle going on at the C-suite level among Rupert and his sons which is part of a transition due to Murdoch getting older.

Does that mean Fox News is going to be less conservative in the future? Beats me.

    • David says:

Getting the news read by good looking babes with nice builds is an accepted business model…when was the last time you saw a truly butt-ugly female newsreader on ANY network? Humans being human, they tend to empathize more with attractive people than unattractive ones. That being said – trying (or succeeding) in ruining someone’s career because they wouldn’t blow you is unacceptable behavior anywhere. Or should be. Try to get laid? Human nature, even if sometimes inappropriate. Trying to ruin someone because they turn you down? Whole different thing.

  24. Jonp says:

The biggest draw in cable news was fired for ALLEGATIONS of sexual harrasment. Let that sink in for a sec. I heard one broad complain he called her a blonde. Where is my crying towel for that 5yr old whiner.

  25. HMC Ret says:

Isn’t (wasn’t) he the most-watched talk show host? Wonder if he will spring up somewhere else? CNN? MSNBC? I’m serious. Maybe he’s going to take to the radio and be competition for Rush. I’m glad he’s gone. A pompous jerk. If any of the eventual lawsuits actually make their way to a courtroom, I’m hoping I can watch it on the TV. I would love to see him have his face pushed into the mud. He’s a pig. Some noted his nerf ball interviews when it suits his purpose (Remember the softball interview with O?) I predict an out-of-court settlement for each case. I wonder if that was part of the deal he worked out with Fox as he was going out the door?

  26. Poetrooper says:

Men who constantly hit on women have always been a source of irritation to me. There are a lot of this type in the traveling business community. I used to have a fellow who worked for me, managing our military accounts in the Southeast U.S. A very bright and unusually fast-talking southerner he was a Navy Reserve LCDR in an intel unit. The guy was physically unimpressive, short and not particularly attractive but he was very self-assured with women and hit on every attractive woman with whom he came into contact.

One day after a waitress had politely but firmly rebuffed his rather crude attempt to meet him later, I asked him why he persisted in such boorish behavior. He looked straight at me and said, “Boss, it’s a game of numbers; if I try every one of ’em, occasionally I’m gonna find one who just happens to be receptive at that particular time and I’m gonna get laid.” He winked at me and put it into our language, “If you always ask for an order, you’re gonna get more sales, right?”

So, there is a logical rationale behind such male behavior but I still find it a source of irritation, particularly if there is an element of coercion to it.

    • The Other Whitey says:

A good friend of mine used to use the line “Care to fuck, or should I apologize?” on girls at bars and other social gathering places, utilizing the same rationale. And when the female he approached preferred Option-B, he politely apologized. He also had a very clear sense of what did and didn’t constitute proper time & place. At work, he kept it firmly zipped.

    • PFM says:

Down side is, he is just the type that gets the rest of us added mandatory briefings – as if there weren’t enough already 🙁 .

  27. timactual says:

Good riddance. Now if they get rid of Hannity I might start watching Fox again.

  28. Joe says:

And to think, he’s a choir boy compared to Trump. Maybe that’s the secret – instead of denying it, brag about it!

    • ex-OS2 says:

Ssshhhhhh Joe, you might wake up mommy. You remember what happend last time right?

    • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Hey little boy Joe, the biggest rocks left for you to climb are still in your head, think about it if you can.

    • OWB says:

That was sarcasm, right, Joe? You couldn’t seriously think that talking about something consensual which may or may not have occurred relates in any way to aggressive, unwanted, perhaps even criminal, moves by a person with power toward a person with less power, right?

If you really believe what you typed, it’s a real shame that you feel compelled to share your mental dysfunction in public. Sad.

  29. 2/17 Air Cav says:

And….the hard-hitting time-slot Fox replacement, Tucker Carlson, will be called upon to dig deep into his gray matter when he has, as his first guest, none other than Vlad Putin! I mean Syria’s Assad! Wait. Former president…no, but I know it has former in it….Right! Former man Caitlyn Jenner!

“The former Olympic Gold Medalist and author will give her perspective on President Donald Trump’s administration, the current political climate and divide in America, as well as her thoughts on how to bring Americans together.”

Who’s next, RuPaul? Thanks. I’ll pass on Tucker as I did on O’Reilly and all the TV newsies.
