“Rat” James Reilly

| June 17, 2017 | 12 Comments

Someone sent us a link to the UK’s Daily Record where they tell the story of “A thieving lowlife…Rat James Reilly” who founded a veterans’ charity that he used as his personal bank account stealing more than £60,000 ($76,698) in donations in less than two years of operations.

Ex-soldier Les Mason, who first found out the truth about Reilly, said: “He is lower than a snake’s belly.

“He was never in this to help veterans. It was all about making money.”

[…]

Walter Mitty Reilly, who falsely claimed to have trained with the Commandos, set up Tayforth Veterans in a blaze of publicity in Dundee in 2011.

TV star Lorraine Kelly – one of the many people he duped – appeared at the launch.

[…]

The shameless thief even accepted a substantial donation from the grieving parents of Black Watch soldier Aaron Black, 22, who took his own life in 2011 after suffering combat stress.

He was convicted Thursday night and sentencing is scheduled for next month.
