Allen Thayer; lying politician, phony Marine

| August 16, 2017 | 54 Comments

MCPO Ret. In TN sends us a link to a story in Utica New York about Allen Thayer, who is running for a seat on the Utica Common Council. He sent out a news release the other day stating that he was a Marine;

There’s just one problem: He’s not.

More than two weeks after the news release was distributed, Thayer said Tuesday he isn’t a veteran, nor has he ever served in the military.

“It was a mistake on my part,” Thayer said. “It was a statement that I put out and I want to retract that statement.”

When asked why he indicated he was a veteran, Thayer initially blamed miscommunication with the person who helped draft the news release. He later changed his explanation during a second phone call, however: “I guess I was just bragging. Let’s just leave it at that.”

The statement read;

Allen Thayer Sr. is running for the Utica Common Council’s Second Ward.

Thayer, a Republican and U.S. Marine veteran, has served as president of the board of the Westside Senior and Community Center since 2016.

He has a variety of public safety and security experience, according to a news release, including the Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center Safety Department, Utica Auxiliary Police, Rooney Protective Agency and SUNY Polytechnic Institute campus police. He also has managed food production for all students, faculty, and staff on the SUNY Polytechnic Institute campus for Sodexo Food Service.

Thayer will be running against Councilman Dave Testa, D-2, in November.

Yeah, I’d check on the rest of those claims, while you’re at it, Mr Journalist.

Nah, how about we not just leave it at that. He didn’t just pull that claim out of his ass all of a sudden. I bet anything the shit stain has been saying that for a long time.

Fat and stupid is no way to go through life.

    • Mick says:

Hey Dave, maybe the Marine Corps could use this guy after all:

The run portion of the PFT could be changed from the current three mile run to doing three laps around ol’ Allen here instead.

      • Dave Hardin says:

Al there never walked three miles let along run it at any speed. I had a CO once that was a runner by choice. He would get this wild hair up his ass for us to run 5 on Fridays.

I couldn’t wait to get my platoon back to the barracks so I could get the nicotine back in my lungs where it belonged. I seem to remember getting even with his uncontaminated lungs at the gas chamber. Never seen anyone manufacture snot in that kind of volume before.

The last time I ran anywhere was to get my credit card back from the Hooters Girl.

        • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

I had a Run-aholic CO in Korea that made us run off our drunks and buzzes from the night before, one spark or open flame near us after the first half mile and at least 3/4 of the unit would have spontaneously combusted right then and there!

    • Marine 0331 says:

      Dave,
I for one am glad ole Allen claimed to be a Marine. The fake SEALs and dog faces are starting to outnumber us on here! Semper Fi Devildog!
      Mike

  2. ChipNASA says:

What the flying monkey fuck ever happened to: “Who, What, When, Where, Why and How.”?!?!

    • Perry Gaskill says:

      Chip,

The “who, what, where, when, why and how” thing usually applies as a style of first paragraph in a news story. It’s called a summary lede. Basically, you try to put the bare who, what, etc. into a single sentence of 25 words or less. Sort of like:

Utica Common Council candidate Allen Thayer admitted this week to a false claim of being a Marine veteran, calling it his own “mistake.”

Personally, I wouldn’t beat up on the paper too much on this one. Thayer and his pal submitted a routine press release announcing his candidacy which was run without a byline. Somebody then caught the false Marine Corps claim, called Thayer out on it, and triggered a follow-up story. Things worked pretty much as they’re supposed to, IMHO.

Realistically, the press can’t always verify every single tiny minute detail of what it publishes. Which is why there is attribution. Should the paper dig deeper into Thayer’s background? I suppose that would depend on whether or not Thayer decides to stay in the Common Council race. Something the reporter might have asked, but didn’t, in the second story.

  3. ChipNASA says:

Yeah, I’d check on the rest of those claims, while you’re at it, Mr Journalist. Mr News Article Writer.

  4. Mark Lauer says:

“I guess I was just bragging. Let’s just leave it at that.”

How about, instead of that, we say; “you were lying your cheap, wart covered ass off” ? Sounds MUCH better doesn’t it?

Oh, and STOP RUNNING FOR PUBLIC OFFICE YOU MISERABLE, FAKE MARINE SUMBITCH!

  5. Combat Historian says:

He went to visit Marineland of Florida while on vacation with his family, so that makes him a “U.S. Marine Veteran”…///

  6. Mick says:

    Oh. Hell. No.

“I guess I was just bragging. Let’s just leave it at that.”

Um, no; let’s not. You lied in public about being a U.S. Marine, and you were ‘bragging’ about being something that you’re not, nor ever have been.

You don’t just get to walk away from that, Allen.

    Nope.

  7. Hayabusa says:

We’ll, being a SUNY Polytechnic Institute campus cop is just like being a Marine, right?

  8. USAFRetired says:

I used to be the Senior Patrol Leader of Boy Scout Troop 253 Parris Island SC. Does that make me a Marine Veteran if I run for office?

I came a cross a picture signed by MGen Peatross a while back when he was CG of MCRD PISC. It was taken when he was declaring Boy Scout month or some such. I’d forgotten all about it. But that was a long time ago.

The last time I visited PI I noticed that the Grinder there had been named the Peatross parade deck

  9. Graybeard says:

Maybe he meant he is a sea slug. That’s Marine Life isn’t it?

  10. OldManchu says:

“I want to retract that statement.”

How about your dad retract his failure of a load!

  11. PFM says:

He looks like he should cut back on the Utica Greens :).

  12. UpNorth says:

I’m going to play a song of my people for Thayer.
    ♪♫ Him, Him,♫♪
    ♫♪ Fuck Him!♪♫

  13. A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Bullshitting in a bar is one thing but making it a public statement while running for office? FUCK YOU sideways with ten miles of rusty barbed wire wrapped in asbestos soaked in diarrhea and nuclear waste, Allen Thayer!!!

  14. Toasty Coastie says:

Holy Flap Dragons Batman…Someone please put this Turd Sandwich in the compost bin.

  15. jdm says:

And also this shitbag also going to run as a GOP in NY yea that aint happening. I though Jake and the Fatman had died?

    • HMC Ret says:

Everyone wants to be a Marine until it’s time to do Marine stuff. Then, not so much. “I’ll claim to be a Marine. Nobody will EVER find out I’m FoS. I’m safe.” Notice how it rarely works out that way with these posers?

      • Hack Stone says:

Everyone wants to be a Marine until it’s time to pick up cigarette butts.

Bragging is telling anyone and everyone that you accomplished something. When I tell people that I earned the much coveted and rarely awarded Precious Metals Recovery Expert Badge, that is bragging. He was not a Marine, so he was not bragging, he was lying.

  16. FatCircles0311 says:

    What a scumfuck.

  17. Carlton G. Long says:

Guy has an epic case of male pattern douchebaggery.

  18. Sparks says:

    Fat little fuck isn’t he?

  19. Rock says:

When I was a RP, I had the pleasure of serving with the Marines. Since I was serving with the Marines, I had to work on my FMF (Fleet Marine Force) pin.

I consider earning FMF was the greatest point of my career. It was somewhat difficult, you know, being a squid and all. But I earned it.

I have the greatest respect for Marines, they take on difficult missions and aim for first place. Honestly, my first combat experience scared the shit out of me. But I was with Marines, they know what to do.

The fact that this ass hole is faking being a Marine is disgusting. Real Marines have gone through hell and back. We have real Marines dying, and this ass hole wants to step on their graves. Fuck this dude.

  20. Ex-PH2 says:

He’s running for office. He publicizes a phony resume story. He gets caught, pants down (mind bleach, please!) and then uses a common bullshitter’s lamebrained excuse for getting caught.

He’s a politician. Whaddaya expect????? Snap out of it! This is what they do: they lie like persian rugs!!

  21. Combat Historian says:

Thayer: “I guess I was just bragging. Let’s just leave it at that.”

This dumbfuck doesn’t even know what the definition of “bragging” is. Bragging means you actually achieved something but talks about or mentions your achievement excessively. This fucker never even bothered to try to achieve being a Marine, so he was NOT ‘bragging”, but basically lying his fat ass off in public….

  22. Jeff LPH 3, 63-66 says:

Well as it stands, thay ar bullshitters & thay ar bullshitters.

  23. Bill R. says:

Kind of ironic. The post above reports on an actual Marine who fought in possibly the bloodiest battle of WW2 returning a souvenir taken from a dead enemy showing honor and forgiveness at its best. And here we have a lowlife who never did a damn thing in his life stealing that honor for his own aims. Disgusting!

  24. OWB says:

Say it ain’t so – a politician lying? Whodathunkit.

Just stop, Al. Exercise a little bit of common sense and quit lying.

  25. Skyjumper says:

Most likely he is “hitting it” with Olivia, IDC SARC. That’s why the glowing review she gave him.

“Ohhhhhhh baby, do that thing with your muffin again, bigboy!” /puke

  26. JACK SHIT says:

Allen Thayer does not know me.
