William Robert Dunbar threatens Veep

| September 13, 2017 | 45 Comments

David sends us a link to the story of William Robert Dunbar, a National Guardsman who threatened the life of Vice President Pence…twice;

According to a criminal complaint, police allege Dunbar made the threat when he was on duty at the Army National Guard Training Center along Aviation Drive in Richland Township.

The vice president was in Shanksville on Monday for the 16th anniversary observance of the Flight 93 crash.

“If someone pays me enough money, I will kill the vice president,” Dunbar said, according to the complaint.

Witnesses said they contacted their commanding officers after hearing Dunbar make the threat two times, the complaint said.

Dunbar is cooling his heels in the local jail on a $1/4 million bond and the cops own his guns.

It’s been interesting reading some of the FB posts from people that have zero clue of what the UCMJ is all about, and that the moment you raise your hand and repeat the oath, the rules change for you regarding “free speech”. I retired from the ANG, and every year we had a death by powerpoint presentation that went over a whole lot of the things that can and can not be done, both in and out of uniform by military members. Guess he slept through one too many of those little briefings, and now he’s going to get to pay the piper for being a dipshit.

  8. Ex-PH2 says:

Why would anyone be dumb enough to want to kill the Veep? Someone equally distasteful to these birdbrained dopes gets the job if that happens. Does no one besides me remember Spiro Agnew -> by Gerald Ford?

Might not have been so bad if Ford had been Veep in the first place, y’know.

    • MrBill says:

I’m reminded of John Nance Garner’s remark that the vice presidency isn’t worth a bucket of warm spit. What’s killing the VP going to change?

    • David says:

well, it drops one out of the line of succession. I’m not sure that Ford wasn’t the better ’76 candidate – he got 240 electoral votes, which is about 200 more than Spiggy would have done. Unless you mean Agnew should have been replaced in ’72? I would agree with that. After 8 years Republican, though, the country would have voted for the dumbest peanut farmer Democrat in the world. Oh, wait…

      • Ex-PH2 says:

That’s what I was referring to. If Nixon had picked Ford as his Veep in the first place instead of Agnew, Ford might have stopped some of the shenanigans that led to the Watergate hearings. He was pulled up out of the Senate when Agnew was forced out in 1973 on corruption charges.
It’s entirely possible that if he had run with Nixon in 1968 instead of Agnew, the Vietnam War might have come to an end sooner, and Watergate might never have happened the way it did.

    • MSG Eric says:

“Why would anyone be dumb enough to want to kill the Veep?”

The same Someone dumb enough to say, “I’ll kill the VP for money” in a public/common area where other people can hear.

  9. CWORet says:

Dear God, the Derp is strong in this one. Got his guns and a 250k bond too. What a Maroon!

Derp on phone: “Dad? DAD!!! Oh God, ‘we’ got a problem! I said some stupid shit and now I’m in jail and the bondsman just needs 25,000 to spring me out! Oh, and I’m gonna be a FORMER National Guardsman in a New York minute!”

Dad: “Son, tell me if this sounds like a phone hanging up.” [click]

(For those not in know, the 10% that the bondsman gets, he keeps.) Good luck getting someone to post that, Davey! Jonn has this posted under the right category. Dumbass Bullshit indeed.

  14. Bim says:

Sometimes, a person’s only reason to exist is to serve as a warning to others on what not to do. Mission accomplished, Mr. Dunbar.
