Hollywood and Harvey Weinstein

| October 13, 2017 | 54 Comments

I hate Hollywood. The whole controversy over the Harvey Weinstein scandal is a perfect example why I hate Hollywood. A few dozen women have accused him of sexually assaulting them in various manners ranging from dirty talk to accusations of rape.

None of them came forward over the years because they didn’t want their accusations to impact their careers negatively. They all took the crumbs that Weinstein threw at them in the form of acting jobs, though, so I doubt their sincerity when they claim injury.

Now that the dam has burst, they’ve all come out, and they’re being called brave. It’s actually a case of “Me, too-ism” rather than bravery. Even the communist traitor Jane Fonda says that she knew about it, and she feels guilty that she didn’t mention it before.

Yeah, it’s not brave decades after the assaults happened. People like Weinstein only have power over their victims if the victims allow him to have power over them, and that’s what they did when they didn’t make their accusations years ago. Now it’s just so much noise.

I can’t identify with Weinstein’s apparent need to force himself on women. I’ve always allowed women to “make the first move”. Even my wife had to move on me first, in that elevator 41 years ago. But, you know if that first woman that Weinstein defiled years ago had the intestinal fortitude to put a stop to it, maybe he wouldn’t have done it all those times since.

But now it’s fashionable for women to come forward – like everything else in Hollywood. Hillary Clinton, the great feminist warrior, took days to come forward with a statement condemning Weinstein’s behavior – only because it’s become fashionable. She’s not returning his money, but she’ll “tithe” 10% of her income to charities – her income, not her campaign donations that Weinstein made to her.

I was going to boycott Weinstein productions in protest, but it seems that I’ve been doing that already. Looking at the list of movies that he’s produced, I’ve only seen two of his movies, so I guess I won’t be putting a dent in his income with my boycott.

Yesterday, it was reported that British police and US law enforcement are conducting investigations into the allegations against Harv, but I don’t have high hopes.

The late night shows have been avoiding the controversy, but South Park took a single shot at Weinstein last night while they were going after Facebook and fake news.

Hollywood can’t even say a cross word about Roman Polanski, the child-rapist, 40 years later, I doubt they’ll ever really hate that pudgy little turd Weinstein enough to make fun of him. Ben and Casey Affleck and Oliver Stone have been accused of similar behavior, but I’m sure they’re just the tip of the iceberg.

Corey Feldman is reported to have “blown the cover” off of Hollywood’s pedophilia habits, but even he won’t name names this long after the crimes. He’s only scratching at the pedophiles’ doors, not “blowing covers” off of anything.

They only have power over you, if you let them.

I only rolled my eyes at the reports that this was a revelation of a Hollywood “secret.”

    Secret? Since when?

As long as there has been an entertainment industry there have been sleazy producers, directors and other moguls who have invited naïve young girls into their offices and said “Sweetie you may be pretty and talented, but there are a hundred girls just as pretty and just as talented on the other side of that door. So tell me, how badly do you want this part?”

And the sad thing is that too many of these young women (and some young men, too) have been willing to do “whatever it takes” to get into show business.

It’s the oldest story in the book and for Hollywood to be collectively clutching its pearls and saying how shocked SHOCKED they are at this revelation makes them look like liars or idiots or perhaps parts of both.

Kind of reminds me of that classic scene from Casablanca. “I’m shocked, SHOCKED to find that there is gambling going on here!” 😉

Yup, stories about the casting couch are as old as Hollywood itself. So if even half of the stories about Weinstein are true, he’s a disgusting pig – but the stories don’t surprise me. Whenever men have power, a certain percentage will abuse that power.

Annina: Monsieur Rick? Could I speak to you, please? – Monsieur Rick, what kind of a man is Captain Renault? No, I mean… …is he trustworthy? Is his word..? …Captain Renault sees us, and he is so kind, he wants to help us. He tells me he can give us an exit visa. But we have no money.

Rick: And you want to know..? – Will he keep his word? He always has.

      Annina: Thank you, monsieur.

“…Hillary Clinton, the great feminist warrior took days to come forward with a statement condemning Weinstein’s behavior…”

Give her a break, Jonn; she had to spend several days dodging heavy sniper fire before she could finally make it to the commo bunker to type out her statement…///

  3. Graybeard says:

And these hypocrites (remember the Greek origin of “hypocrite” means “actor”) and perverts and child molesters have the arrogance to proclaim themselves our moral superiors and tell us how we peons need to live.

    Sluts, whores, and perverts.

  4. MSG Eric says:

Even his wife coming out to say she’s leaving him is bullshit. She played the hillary clinton card and did the, “I’m shocked, I just can’t believe my husband would do such things!”

Yeah, you aren’t shocked lady. You’ve known for years but now that it is a public story you HAVE to leave him and act shocked because you don’t want anyone to know that you knew he was pulling this shit for years too.

I seriously love it when Hollywood’s hypocrisy becomes a big deal in the media.

I’m having trouble boycotting. I want to boycott the NFL but I can’t remember the last time I watched a game and I have never bought any NFL garb. I want to boycott Hollywood but the last movie I saw was Blazing Saddles and it couldn’t be filmed today.

    …in that elevator 41 years ago…

    AAAhhhhhhhhhhhhhh … Bangkok, Thailand …. 1969. A little math formula I remember:

(1 American HS student + 1 Japanese HS student) * Apartment Elevator = eye-rolling memory.

    Thanks for mentioning elevator, Jonn.

When Hillary was asked to compare Weinsteins behavior to Bills she responded- Its close, but no cigar.

  8. PFM says:

Just saw where my noble governor, Andy “I wanna be the President sooo bad I can taste it” Cuomo got religion and decided to return all 100 grand of Harvey’s donations, instead of the 50 grand he was originally going to give back. They just can’t help being sleazy…

  9. Mason says:

“People like Weinstein only have power over their victims if the victims allow him to have power over them”

No truer words, Jonn. If they weren’t so obsessed with becoming celebrities, maybe people would respect themselves more and not be alright with being used.

  10. Perry Gaskill says:

Something amusing under the big top of the Weinstein circus is that feminists outraged by the censorship of a Rose McGowan tweet have apparently chosen today to boycott Twitter as a demonstration of solidarity.

My own first thought was: “And this is a bad thing because?”

  11. Ex-PH2 says:

Your wife had to hit on you??? I thought you chased her. Where have I been?

I don’t see this as anything new. Weinstein is just another crapweasels in a long line of crapweasels. The only reason any of these whiny tits decided to line up is to get in front of the camera with Gloria the Allready Hammerslammer and get a chance to weep on camera and get some cash out of Harvey.

  12. Jay says:

Having a discussion with the wife last night about exactly how little TV we watch these days. If anything, it’s PBS for the kids and Forensic Files/History/Etc for us. I don’t watch sports anymore and during my days doing Marine Corps PA functions, it shocked me (not really) how vapid and clueless most celebrities are. Had a couple female types get offended that I wasn’t hitting on them and a couple of the male types get upset that I wasn’t starstruck by being in their presence. 15 years later I still laugh about it, especially a couple of times when THEY were pestering me for conversations…

  13. rgr769 says:

I bet the only “charity” to which Hildy regularly “tithes” is the Clinton Foundation. This gives her a nice charitable tax deduction for money given to an org she will be getting bennies from for the rest of her life.

  14. The Other Whitey says:

Steven Crowder, Owen Benjamin, and Not-Gay Jared ripped into all the Hollyweird feminists and their delayed “Shocked! Shocked, I tell you!” bullshit. Like Meryl Streep, et al, didn’t know what was going on after claiming the bastard as close personal friend for decades.

  15. Atkron says:

    Where’s the Pussy Hats now?

  16. A Proud Infidel®™ says:

So is the left going to come out in their pussy hats and vagina costumes against Weinstein like they did President Trump?

    Harvey who?

Jane I have never missed a chance to shoot my mouth of Fonda, it did no affect me so I stayed quiet. Same succubus that went to North Vietnam to slam our POW’s this woman is evil as are all the people that knew what was going on but loved the money and influence he was bringing them. Note there are no pink hat marches on Hollywood.

  20. Island of Misfit Toys says:

And now we have this haggis… Marr responded by pointing out Clinton has dismissed allegations made by women against her husband, former President Bill Clinton, that Trump highlighted during the hard-fought presidential campaign.

“That has all been litigated,” Clinton replied. “That was subject of a huge investigation in the late ’90s and there were conclusions drawn. That was clearly in the past.”

  21. FatCircles0311 says:

Hollywood is getting a taste of the accusation terrorism the left has been waging for awhile from their own now. It’s funny but in all reality this is still America so you’re innocent until proven guilty and with their track record of false accusations some of what they are accusing people of has to be lies.

I think everybody needs chill ou and deal with facts not heresay.

  22. Mark Lauer says:

This was one of the multitude of reasons I rolled my eyes so far back in my sockets they came back around twice when Hollywood was getting all moralistic about then candidate Trump and the “pussy grabbing” tape.

What was it he said on there? “women will just let you grab their pussies in Hollywood if you have money”? Something like that?

So, was he lying at the time? Nope. Was Hollywood keeping things quiet back then? Yep.
Did Hollywood KEEP keeping those things secret for many years? Yep.
When the Trump tape was revealed, did Hollywood reveal the sins of Weinestein? Nope. Did they become hypocritical moralists once again?
You bet your pussies they did, even if you ain’t got one.

    • rgr769 says:

He was commenting on the fact that women will throw themselves at you if you are rich and famous and will be receptive when you grab them there. And he was partly being facetious. He was not under oath and was not reporting historical fact. But hey let’s not let that impair the fake news media or Ms. Allred, the Cali ambulance chaser.

  23. OWB says:

It must be terribly painful to be a lefty. Day in and day out they must condemn behavior such as this publicly when they really think it is all normal, maybe even healthy. Confusing and tiring to do all those contortions based upon situational ethics. Depending.

No wonder so many of them require chemical enhancement to trigger smiles.

  24. wacko willy says:

General Lee is to have said, “We are going to move an army on the word of an Actor?” I went through college as a Thesbian of sorts—a lighting tech in the college theater. All the actors except 2 were ‘California Granola’. Low morals, low standards, low IQ’s. Only excellence they had is that they could memorize the way to and knew where the couches were in the prop room. California Granola is ‘what ain’t fruits or nuts is flakes.’

All that said, let us understand that this Weinstein behavior, even on the light, small potatoes sized stuff is reprehensible. In-excusable.

But at the same time we should change the law that makes it acceptable to squeal on the perp more than twelve months after the fact. A statute of limitations. Ever hear of them?

Yes honey-baby-put-upon-poontang, put up or shut up early-on or lose the ability to complain, civil or criminal, either way period.

It should be criminal to even bring it up more than a year after it happened.
