| October 20, 2017 | 27 Comments

Mick sends us a link from the Virginia Gazette which reports that an Improvised Explosive Device was detonated in a parking lot in Williamsburg, Virginia;

The Williamsburg police and fire departments responded to what was initially reported as a car fire, Riley said.

However, after police and fire units arrived, they determined the cause of the explosion to be an improvised explosive device that was detonated, Riley said.

The Williamsburg police is investigating the incident with help from the Williamsburg Fire Department, Colonial Williamsburg Public Safety, Newport News Police, Virginia State Police, as well as the FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Riley said.

According to 13News police don’t have evidence of a motivation for the IED yet.

Doesn’t John Hinkley, Jr. live with his mom in Williamsburg?

    I’d start there.

I’m thinking the motive was PRACTICE.

The Virginian-Pilot is reporting that the IED detonated at Colonial Williamsburg, which is a big tourist attraction.

‘Officials are investigating after an improvised explosive device detonated at Colonial Williamsburg Thursday evening.

    […]

    No one was injured.

    […]

The IED went off in a highly-trafficked area during a peak time, so many people were around, Riley said. The area did not need to be evacuated and there’s no indication of an additional threat to the public.

WVEC Channel 13 News reports that the police are looking into a possible connection to the College of William & Mary Homecoming this weekend.

    ‘Explosion in Williamsburg prompts investigation’

    ‘[…]

Police are investigating if this incident is connected to William and Mary’s homecoming taking place this weekend.

    […].’

I know that I’m speculating here in the absence of additional information, but I’m beginning to suspect (thankfully) that the IED may have malfunctioned and went low-order.

Hopefully more factual info will be forthcoming soon.

    This is not good.
Whoever did this was influenced by the VBIEDs used in Iraq.

Is this the first time a VBIED has been used in CONUS?

    • Mick says:

It wasn’t a VBIED. It was an IED placed in a parking lot at South Boundary Street and Francis Street.

As per the WVEC Channel 13 News report that I linked in my post above:

‘Police say although the call came in as a car fire. No car was on fire. The device was found near a car.’

The 1993 Twin Towers bomb was in the back of a van, and the Kansas City bombing was in truck.

I was wondering when we were going to start seeing them here in America.
So far most of the terrorists have been working with the FBI or informants so we have been lucky up till now.

today is 20 Oct. 4 November is 15 short days from now.

    could this be an MRX?

    • CCO says:

Elaborate please. 4 November is my college homecoming, but I don’t think that’s what you mean.

ANTIFA, also known as the Communist JV team that’s Soros funded, held up a banner on some freeway that said ‘Nov 4, it begins’ or some bs.
They think they’re going to have a revolution, which would be cute but these f*ckers are arming themselves.
YouTube ‘November 4th ANTIFA’ and enjoy. They’re an amusing bunch of idiots.

        • Ret_25X says:

agreed…but as we have learned the hard way…idiots…perhaps particularly idiots…can be incredibly deadly.

The fact that they are basically lame and useless is no indication of their potential for great harm to people.

  11. CCO says:

Has anyone else seen the “forensic audio analysis” of the Las Vegas shooting that indicated a possible second shooter? The video on YouTube says that the sounds of bullets hitting the pavement (near where the audio was recorded) compared to the time it took for the sounds of the of the gunshots to reach the recording device indicate two different times of flight and thus two different locations so there must have been two shooters. The math seemed to track, but I have no idea about the basic data of the bullets hitting the ground.

  12. Dan says:

Stating the obvious but someone must have scouted and did some prior planning, I wonder how well covered the area is with CCTV?

  13. jonp says:

Don’t know if John caught it but not long ago an IED was set off in the back of a car near Burlington, VT. Seems some kids decided to make one probably from watching Youtube and were riding to the beach I think to set it off when it did it a little early. Could be nothing more than that.
