Been chomping at the bit to put this out there ever since it came up a crossword puzzle theme yesterday. So here’s your bad joke groaner for the weekend:

It looks like Stolen Valorist Kyle C. Barwan is still in the Polk County Florida jail, waiting to be transferred to the Florida State Prison system, where his cellmate, gentleman Bubba will push his stool in for him. Looking at one of his booking photos, I can see the resemblance to the drinking bird toy:

He probably looks like this while taking care of Bubba’s needs:

    • OWB says:

Would anyone really care if the show had been taped? Sure, a few, but not likely as many as would be upset at the pretense of it being live.

So silly. A completely unnecessary deception.

      • AnotherPat says:

        👍👍😆

Heaven forbid if the morning show “Fox and Friends” did that. The liberal media would be sandblasting Fox big time.

And of course, poor ole Maxine would start her ” Impeach Trump” tirade again…👿

        • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Just like Nanny Lugosi said “We have to pass this so we can find out what’s in it” about 0bamacare, I wonder how soon we’ll hear idiots like Maxine will be saying that Congress needs to impeach President Trump so they can find out what he’s done wrong? So far all he’s done is take long-overdue action against their agenda and unfuck a fair share of what the past administration did!

  22. Frankie Cee says:

Being of the “landborne” military type, I once asked a Navy guy what the difference is in a ship and a boat. He told me something like: “A boat can be loaded on a ship, but a ship cannot be loaded on a boat.” If that were definitive, would the USS Fitzgerald then be a “boat”?
This article shows the Fitz being loaded aboard the Heavy Lift Ship “Transshelf”. Good photos of the loading, prior to it being brought to the Gulf of Mexico to be towed into Huntington Ingalls Shipyard, Pascagoula Mississippi:
    http://gcaptain.com/damaged-uss-fitzgerald-loaded-japan/

    • NHSparky says:

Submarines are referred to as boats also.

    • Tallywhagger says:

I vaguely recall a Coastie saying that ships were at least 95′ and anything 94′ and under was a boat.

A merchant marine told me that the difference between a ship and boat is that when you turn a boat, the boat leans into the turn, whereas, a ship will lean away from the turn.

To my limited experience, there is an entire range of vessels that fit in that area between what are obviously ships and those that aren’t.

    • Perry Gaskill says:

The definition I was taught is that a boat can be hoisted out of the water with a crane. A ship needs to be pulled into a drydock which has the water pumped out. In the case of the USS Fitzgerald, the Transshelf is a special mobile floating drydock which can act as a transport.

The way it works is that water-tight compartments on the Transshelf are flooded and it sinks enough for the ship to be moved over it. Pump the water back out, and it rises and brings the ship up with it.

  23. IDC SARC says:

I hope all you bahstids had a great Thanksgiving!

    • Ex-PH2 says:

Ditto to you, IDC, and I know I had a truly great Thanksgiving.

I’m going to have chocolate ice cream later tonight.

      • Tallywhagger says:

I had to take the pledge and swear off on ice cream.

My old Mastiff loved his ice cream, he got 3 tablespoons a day, at lunch time, starting when he was about 11. He nearly made it to 12, a real hall of fame age for a big dog.

In any case, I started eating his ice cream and got addicted to it. Good LAWD have mercy, I now understand what sugar can do to your brain… and dammit, I LIKE it.

Irrespective, when the 38 waist trousers became difficult to button I had to go cold turkey. Or something like that.

Enjoy your chocolate ice cream… and whatever else you do, don’t get any Friendly’s Forbidden Chocolate–it can become the road to perdition.

Thank goodness, I can’t get Blue Bell ice cream in New England. A man has to know his limitations, Blue Bell is only for the strongest at heart or an active life style.

OTOH… if the doc told me I only have a few days, maybe a week or a month to go, I’d take the pilgrimage and go to Texas to get some Peach Ice Cream. And if that was out of season, Strawberry could probably get me through the worst of it.

        • 11B-Mailclerk says:

When Mom started chemo and radiation therapy for an inoperable lung cancer, her Doc told her that she should eat while she could, not when hungry. Further, high-calorie foods were now a real plus.

Ice cream was high on the list of things that were recommended. Mom was smugly pleased.

Mom was -tough-. She managed to eat when most cannot, and -asked- for the installation of a feeding tube when eating became too difficult.

-tough- was Mom. Woodpecker lips tough.

Years later, she demanded of her Doc “How long do I have? And no more avoiding the question!” Doc said “I do not know. You have outlived every single patient I have ever seen with this form of cancer, including in literature. Quite frankly, I have no idea why you are still alive. Keep going.”

She lasted another three years, passing the day after Thanksgiving.

          -tough- woman.

          • Twist says:

Sounds like my Grandmother. She started smoking at 16 and smoked 2 packs a day and lived to be 90. I used to swear that cancer was afraid of her.

She always said that she was 23 1/2 up until the day she passed away and heaven help anyone who had the audacity to correct her about her age.

She had a heart attack when she was in her 60’s and she had the EMTs in stitches as she was cracking jokes on the way to the hospital.

I will always remember one of the times she was babysitting me my cousin and I were jumping into the hay from the loft in the barn and I got a nail in my foot. She pulled the nail out and then whooped my cousin and my asses because we weren’t supposed to be in the barn.

      • Ex-PH2 says:

I swore at Diet Coke two years ago, because it cost too much. A 12-can pack costs 2/3 the price of a pack of chicken.
I have since then lost 37 pounds.
Still eating ice cream, but not as a quart at a time. Just one spoonful at a time.
Good, dense (chocolate) ice cream is good for you. It’s not the ice cream that’s the problem. It’s how much and how often.
There is no reason you can’t have three spoonfuls of ice cream, in honor of your dear deceased doggie.

  24. Ex-PH2 says:

In ongoing news (in case you were on another planet over the holiday), the Agung volcano on the island of Bali has finally erupted, after giving us warnings two months ago, almost to the day. First eruption was 11/25/17. Second was 11/26/17.

If you’re in or near Bali, please send us (and the BBC) a report. Thanks!!!

  25. Green Thumb says:

That picture up top looks like the local restaurant down the street that was giving out freebies on Veteran’s Day.

All of the clowns have a tendency to come out of the woodwork.

    • OWB says:

Yet somehow there are millions of us out here who don’t know any white women who raised sons who are rapists or killers, terrorists or abusers. Come to think of it, I don’t know any black women who raised their sons to be any of those things either.

    • AnotherPat says:

IMHO, the nurse in question should had kept her own personal perspective/opinion to herself and used poor judgment in tweeting her feelings on social media.

What was she thinking? Have no clue on why she did this, but at least an investigation as been initiated.

Wonder if her Nursing License will be revoked…or if others will come to her defense on her exercising her right to free speech.

      So sad.

      • AnotherPat says:

Fox 59 has her original tweet with her picture as well as the full context of her tweet. She also just received her Nursing License in October, but looks as if she will not be able to work with patients during the investigation:

        http://fox59.com/2017/11/25/iu-health-investigating-after-nurse-allegedly-posts-controversial-tweet/

      • Ex-PH2 says:

“During the investigation, that employee (who does not work at Riley Hospital for Children) will have no access to patient care.”

If her attitude is as sour as she makes it seem to be, she should not be allowed to be in any nursing or patient environment.

        • AnotherPat says:

          You’re right, Ex.

That is why I’m curious if she will be able to retain her license. She scares me and reminds me of that sad incident with Army LT Blanchard at the Fort Leavenworth Hospital.

Also makes me wonder what level of nursing she holds (LPN, RN) as well as where she received her education.

Something must have happened that triggered her Hate. Yes, Hate. And Immaturity.

IMO, she should be fired based on her 15 minute of fame. And if she does, then she may have a hard time finding employment that is based on people interaction…oh, wait a second, I completely forgot about Poor Ole “Impeach Trump” Maxine…or BHO’s former “Pastor” what’s his name…(sarc😈)

  26. AnotherPat says:

Now that I got that disburbing news about that nurse out of my system, here is some “good” news about the NFL. I think I will start to become an ” Empty Seater” Fan as well:

Gonna be interesting on the next Super Bowl.

    🏈😉

Binge watched multiple episodes of “Punisher” on Netflix yesterday. But I was disappointed to see a number of proggie ani-military memes and stereotypes, but I imagine the writers are a bunch of former lefty basement dwelling Call of Duty gamers. The show did have a stolen valor character who was exposed as a fake Viet of the Nam vet claiming Purple Hearts and Silver Star. When he is unmasked, the obligatory Afghan vet with the PTSD confronts him and viciously uses the man’s K-bar to stab him to death. I knew what I was going to be in for when one of the characters says early on that the Punisher’s special ops unit of hand picked SF, SEALS, and Marine Recon operators were “sheepdipped” and assigned to control of a psycho CIA officer. Of course, this off the books unit was a hit squad engaged in smuggling heroin from Afghanistan in the bodies of our KIAs, and killing off competing dealers and anyone who might expose their crimes. Needless to say all team members are good guys who don’t have a clue, as they kill suspected Taliban infiltrators and secretly bury them. It is an entertain show, but one must suspend disbelief and ignore the proggie memes. Four out of five stars.

Just a thought, the words “…without regard for his own personal safety…” appear not only in Medal Commendations but many an Article 15 as well, your thoughts?
