Sharior Rahman, Air Force chaplain shoplifter

| December 6, 2017 | 70 Comments

Stars & Stripes reports that Air Force Captain (Chaplain) Sharior Rahman, an imam at Ramstein Air Base and one of only a few Muslim clerics in the Air Force, was convicted of stealing from a German store and sentenced to forfeit $3,000 of his pay for one month but did not dismiss him from the service.

Whether Rahman will remain in the chaplaincy with a general court-martial conviction still needs to be determined by the organization that endorsed him as a military chaplain, officials said.

The charges stem from a shopping trip last year at an Edeka store in Homburg, where Rahman and his wife, Sanam, a civilian, shoplifted about 70 euros worth of groceries, according to court testimony. A second shoplifting involving the couple occurred two weeks later at the Exchange on Ramstein, though no criminal charges were filed in the latter incident.

According to the article, he and his wife had a well-rehearsed plan to buy some items and smuggle other stolen items out of the stores. If he had tried that in Saudi Arabia, he’s be missing one of his sticky mitts now.

Muslim privilege. Get caught being a sneak thief multiple times get to stay in and and no confinement or loss of rank.

Between this guy and our California basketball sneak thiefs leftists must be pooping blood by now.

    • desertdweller says:

WTF is wrong with the Air Farce? This muslim scum is a “chaplain”? forfeit 3000.00 of ONE months pay? How much does that prick get paid? Pay him with one round of .45 covered in pig fat right between the eyes imho!!

      • AZtoVA says:

A prior-enlisted Captain, maxed out for base pay (over 18 yeasr of service) is $7,026.00 per month. Add in about $250 or so tax-free BAS per month and whatever the OHA is if he’s off base.

  2. bombstopr says:

Fake news. Everyone knows Islam is a religion of peace and a muslim would never do such a thing.

    • Club Manager says:

An ordinary Muslim might but certainly not a devout Inman, a man of the Koran, a man of high honor, a man who quietly stirs Jihad and gives new meaning to fox in the hen house. Tell me it ain’t so.
If Private Snuffy got caught doing the same thing he would be history after getting out of the brig. When are we ever going to wise up.

    • jonp says:

It doesn’t count if the crime is done to an infidel.

  3. Sapper3307 says:

Can his disrupt a security clearance or be considered conduct unbecoming?

  4. Michael Yates says:

Anyone from any other religion would have been booted out of the service but this piece of crap stays just because he represents a cult that is protected.

I am truly ashamed of what my Air Force has become.

  5. Wilted Willy says:

    Off with his Head!

  6. A Proud Infidel®™ says:

WTF, a CHAPLAIN caught shoplifting and he doesn’t get booted? Oh wait, he’s from a speeecial protected victim class.

  7. Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

Stealing from infidels isn’t really stealing after all infidels only exist to provide the followers of the prophet with a better life.

Islam is a parasitic disease and it’s time we found the fortitude to exercise the cure.

  8. RetiredDevilDoc8404 says:

A CHAPLAIN? Stealing? And he gets to stay on AD with a General Court Martial conviction? On what planet is this okay? Oh, that’s right, we’re on the kinder, gentler, politically correct one now. Have to let Mr. Aloha Snackbar slide. Toss his ass out, and if he follows sharia even a little, then let him and his sticky fingered wife wife their butts with a hook. There’s no justification for an them to be stealing groceries, none, la, nada, zip, zero.

  9. Non Cedo Ferio says:

To me a thief is a thief. If it’s one thing I’ve learned is that they come in all shapes and sizes and all religious stripes. So I’m not gonna go off on the Muslim angle . To me it’s a case of a service member not living up to the values of the service. That in and of itself should be the sad part of all this just sayin

  10. Sj says:

Oh come on. Iman’s gotta have some ribs and a pork butt now and then and they can’t just go buy one you know.

  11. Stout says:

His career is basically over. I’m sure this won’t be last we hear of him with the light sentence. When I was a CQ runner in Germany on a weekend there always seemed to be someone caught shoplifting. Definitely not something that led to being kicked out of AD.

  12. Hondo says:

    (sigh) A Chaplain. Shoplifting.

Talk about someone who should be held to a higher standard – and, accordingly, hammered harder if judged and found wanting.

Between this and the Bergdahl case (and a number of others recently), I’m really thinking that perhaps it’s time for some major changes to the military justice system. Maybe it’s time to go to a two-person panel to preside over courts-martial – one of which is a officer or NCO senior to the accused who is not a military judge. And both must agree on any sentence.

As one or more of our military JAG officer commenters has noted, one of the primary purposes of the military justice system is to promote and support military discipline. Many military judges seem to have forgotten that.

  13. USMCMSgt (Ret) says:

Muzzles gotta muz. Stealing is in his blood. The book he follows and professes says it’s okay.

    Fakeem.

  14. Forest Green says:

A little sharia law is in order.

  15. sj says:

Was the Class 6 store on their shopping itinerary?

  16. Ex-PH2 says:

Hmmm…. he’s got a good paycheck, a steady job,and he thinks it’s okay to steal from a shop owner.
No, it isn’t okay. He’s a thief. Fire his ass now.

  17. Green Thumb says:

He should have ordered his Chaplain’s Assistant to do it.

  18. Mason says:

“Integrity first!” Just ain’t what it used to be…

For that matter, the other core values don’t seem to have had an effect on him either.

  19. Skippy says:

    Crap !!!!!!

This is the craziest thing I’ve read this year
No surprises that he is still in

    😂 🤣 😅 😀 😆 😃 😡

  20. OWB says:

An officer in USAF allowed to remain on AD after being convicted of shoplifting in a foreign country? Uhhh, that just ain’t right. There are no extenuating circumstances.

    • desertdweller says:

They threw a Christian Chaplain out for using the name of Jesus!! I say disband the Air Farce, the traitorous, ignorant, despicable morons have no place in this society!! imho

  21. Berliner says:

He had to steal. How else could he afford to live on a base pay of $7,026 a month as an 0-3 with 18 years prior enlisted service. That is only $84,312 a year without rations allowance. Can some compassionate individual set up a gofundme account?

I’m sure they live in government quarters, which are probably inadequate to their needs and desires. They are only a couple steps from creating cardboard signs and both he and his wife occupying a couple street corners.
Here’s an example of one sign I’ve seen that works pretty good:
“Jay Z and Beyoncé are having twins. I need money for a gift. Please Help!”

  22. Graybeard says:

Off with his hand, or head. Either one.

  23. Mick says:

Air Force Chaplain (and his wife) shoplifting out in town and at the Exchange.

    — sigh —

Well, you can bet that this wasn’t the first time that they’ve done this.

This was just the first time that they’ve been caught.

    • Stout says:

They could have been motivated by LiAngelo Ball and his UCLA teammates. Ball’s dad created a multi million dollar empire and he shoplifted, in China no less. Ball empire trying to get multi billion dollar deal from Nike or Adidas or equivalent now.

  24. Every time I read about the Air Force these days, I cringe and I say to myself “What the hell happened to the Air Force I was so proud to serve in some 40 years ago ?”
Is the liberal social engineering agenda leadership failure the whole reason for all this buffoonery I keep reading and hearing about ?
    ME THINKS SO

  25. Dustoff says:

Was at Ft Sam for the Medical NCO course back in the 80s. One of the cadre there told us a story of a General Officer (not sure if he was a physician or MSC branch) anyway the General’s wife had sticky fingers and apparently help him (the General) to achieve an early retirement.

  26. Jeff LPH 3, 63-66 says:

I hope the Pork sausages and Oscar Meyer no nitrate bacon he absconded with were wrapped in a plain brown paper wrapper like the girlie magazines I used to get through the mail.

  27. Carlton G. Long says:

I would have expected this sort of judicial tomfoolery when Ashy and the Kenyan were in charge…can’t Chaos correct this?

    • Hondo says:

If the USAF’s regs are anything like the Army’s, the USAF can correct this w/o SECDEF involvement. One of the GOs in his chain-of-command should be able to ask AFHQ to convene a “show cause” administrative board to consider his suitability for continuation on active duty.

  28. CM says:

What the fuck is happening in my Air Force…

  29. Graybeard says:

What we are seeing, IMHO, is the consequence of a difference in theology.

Jews and Christians have the commandment as “You shall not steal.”

The Disciples of The Great Pedophile have the commandment as “You shall not steal from another Muslim (unless he is apostate) but everyone else is fair game.”

  30. Tom Huxton says:

So, what charges did the wife face? Or, did he blame this on the wife?

  31. Just An Old Dog says:

Back in the late 90’s I had a kid in my 81’s Platoon who had sticky fingers. He was bought up in foster care and I guess he figured since he had nothing growing up he could steal to make up for it. They caught him in the PX trying to walk out wearing 4 jackets/sweatshirts he didn’t pay for with CDs in the pockets. It turns out he’d been lifting shit from the platoon as well. After a SCM and a few months in the brig he got a BCD.
Fast forward to 2011 and he sends me a friend request on face book. I’m a bit hesitant but accept and see how he is doing. He has a family and is a union steel worker and doing well. He posts up stuff about how he served in the Corps but doesn’t go over the top. One guy that was in the platoon put him on blast a few years back and called him a thieving piece of shit he won’t ever forgive.
The thread got deleted but JS didnt get all crazy about it.
This past summer when there was the big flood down in Texas he and a few other vets loaded up their trucks and went down and helped out for a week or so.
This past November he messaged me and asked me if it was OK if he put up his Boot Camp graduation photo on his Facebook Profile Picture.
I told him that even though he had gotten the boot he still had earned the title Marine, and all he had done since he had gotten out, Being a hard worker, A good Husband and a Great Dad to his kids was an example that reflected what a Good Marine would do, and I was proud of the good man that stupid kid had turned out to be, and he would always be a Marine in my book, as long as he didn’t bullshit about his service.
He said he has been living with the guilt of that BCD for 20 years.

    • Sj says:

👍imho, you done good. Sounds like a gent that really did atone. Any of us that haven’t stepped on our cranks, to some degree?

    • OWB says:

      Sounds good, JAOD. Quite good.

Growing up as he did, it is entirely conceivable that no one ever taught him the limits of acceptable behavior. Until the Corps. Can’t do anything about past bad behavior, but living right today and tomorrow goes a long way toward balancing the scales. It’s easier with a few good mentors around. Thanks, JAOD.

  32. jeff monroe says:

did he steal anything kosher or pork?

  33. TankBoy says:

And this piece of shit still holds a commission? what in f**k is going on in the head of the commander that let that happen? A general court martial conviction? And if this turd was not charged at the px, how in hell do they prosecute Airman Jones?

  34. USMCMSgt (Ret) says:

“So enjoy what you took as booty; the spoils are lawful and good”. Quran 8:69
