Indiana VA and Gay Pride flag

| June 13, 2018 | 100 Comments

Bobo sends us a link to WANE which reports that the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System in Fort Wayne removed five service flags so they could fly a gay pride rainbow flag at their facility.

The sight drew plenty of attention from residents and visitors to the VA. NewsChannel 15 received several questions and comments and photos from viewers.

The VA Northern Indiana Healthcare System issued the following statement:
“Logistically, we could not add a flag without removing a flag from the poles outside our VA. Rather than single out one military branch’s flag to be temporarily replaced with the LGBT flag, we chose to remove all of them for one day in order to show our dedication to serving all Veterans equally.”
The VA said service flags were put back up before the end of the business day.

Can we just stop with the attention whoring?

    Just stop it.

  3. Roh-Dog says:

I fully support consenting adults doing what ever they’d like to do to each other.
But recognizing that above reverence for Service Members on VA soil?
    Naw.
More like, Hell to the naw.
How did the administration justify this decision?

  4. 26Limabeans says:

Why fuck one service flag when you can fuck them all? It’s only fair.

  5. Jay says:

The VA…where BUDDY is only HALF the word.

  6. Mason says:

At a VA facility? Da fuq? They obviously have forgotten whom they serve. Time for that facility to get a thorough house cleaning. Drain that little bit of the swamp.

    • 26Limabeans says:

Disband the VA and give veterans a head of the line priorty over non veterans at ANY health care facility and at NO cost to the veteran.
Anything else is just more of the same Deep State bullshit.
VA needs to go be bye bye.

  7. Private Parts says:

5% of the population and yet jamming into 100% of the culture.

I got no problem what the sodomites do in their closets but I think it is about time they get back in them.

  8. Non Cedo Ferio says:

When I go to my CBOC or hospital. There’s pamphlets either at the MSA counter or the waiting room that show VAs policy of helping all veterans. Regardless of orientation . To me that should be enough. This is clearly of case of going too far. Let’s not forget that there are plenty of LGTBQ vets who take pride in their branch of service who would find this an affront. At no point should the flag take precedence over service flags. And while I think that antg deserving veteran should be treated equally at VA. I feel no group should be singled out for special attention

  9. OWB says:

They ran it up the flagpole and nobody saluted.

  10. MrFace says:

Its shit like this that accentuates the individual is more important than the group. I have no problem with homosexuals but to justify it as showing “equality” of a few over the service of all(across all branches) just nullifies any kind of communication that the VA and the subsequent military branches supported by the VA are truly “one team, one fight.”

Fights against service related disabilities, PTSD, financial issues, family issues requires a team effort and has no sexual orientation. This whole boondoggle is in bad taste. No one is saying to pull the flag down; hell put up flags on the lawn or posters celebrating “equality” but don’t pull down the flags of the branches you support. And don’t tell this crusty old SNCO that this is an effort to show “equality,” I guarantee those whom feel included in the pride movement are in the minority; especially in the military. Even so, Those who are part of that lifestyle and in service, very rarely make their preference about themselves when in such scenarios (IE; VA, etc.)

    Cheers,
    MrFace

P.S. I’m pretty sure the Navy would not have minded if you replaced their flag with the pride flag though. [/sarc]

  11. A Proud Infidel®™ says:

OH, so a politically correct “FOO-FOO FLAG” is more important than all of the Flags representing the Veterans of the Armed Services that the VA serves? Sounds like the decision of some PC-minded bureaucrat “educated” someplace like UC Berzerkely or any other Communist Indoctrination Facility masquerading as a University. Let’s not forget that THE SAME crowd that supports the burning and desecration of The United States Flag in the name of “Free Speech” ALSO called for the prosecution of someone who burned a “Foo-foo Flag” in protest, calling for him to be prosecuted for a “Hate Crime”. As to whoever made that decision as well as those who executed it, I wish for their high beams to be stuck on along with their car horn blaring while they are on the highway right behind a band of THE meanest and most ruthless Outlaw Bikers that have ever lived AND I wish my Ex-Wife upon each and every one of them.

  12. 3/10/MED/b says:

“Logistically”, the thought of removing the flag of any branch or the POW/MIA flag should never have been an option. (I am not fully aware of the procedure(s) for official flying of the POW/MIA flag on government property, any information would be appreciated.)

The VA Northern Indiana Healthcare System official bullshit “statement” was of course the result of someone that day feeling offended by the sky being too blue or the humidity being 0.5% points out of their comfortable zone, and it had to of been the result of someone’s hatred/prejudice/unintelligence/(feel free to add your own…).

Or maybe they just couldn’t find a bakery to make the obedience school graduation cake for Kiki…

    • Brown Neck Gaitor says:

The Defense Authorization Act of 1998 had the following days when it is required that the POW/MIA flag be flown from Government buildings.

Armed Forces Day (Third Saturday in May)
Memorial Day (Final Monday in May)
      Flag Day, June 14
      Independence Day, July 4
National POW/MIA Recognition Day (Third Friday in September)
      Veterans Day, Nov. 11

In 1990, U.S. Public Law 101-355, recognizing the National League of Families POW/MIA flag and designating it “as a symbol of our Nation’s concern and commitment to resolving as fully as possible the fates of Americans still prisoner, missing and unaccounted for in Southeast Asia, thus ending the uncertainty for their families and the Nation.”

The VA voluntarily displays the flag 24/7

  13. 3E9 says:

Isn’t having all of the service flags flying showing their “dedication to serving veterans equally” already? Dipshits

    • 26Limabeans says:

Don’t forget those who serve in the shadows.
Poor bastards need a special flag. They will soon have special compensation rates also. Service connected gayness is real and we need to accept it.
      Those who sodomize also serve.

      • MrFace says:

        “Service connected gayness…”

        Classic 😀

Now that I think about, Being a man; and being fucked by The Man for being a veteran, I guess that would be service connected gayness. Yikes.

        😉

      • Dinotanker says:

        GODDAMMMIT!

I almost blew pizza out my nose on that one 26Limabeans!

MrFace: That’s a scary concept…it would also apply to those of us who have left the service and now work for any branch of the gov’t…

    • MSG Eric says:

Don’t confuse the issue with facts.

  14. borderbill (a NIMBY/BANANA) says:

Phuck the pheds. All of them. Support Trump and any (and every) one else who wants to clean up this festering, bile laden, sepsis filled shit dump. Thems my thoughts.

  15. HMC Ret says:

The VA doesn’t have enough problems, such as the waiting list of death, and someone thought this was a good idea? I don’t give two shits what people do to each other as long as they are both adult and consensual. This is just the VA literally throwing a flag to divert attention from the other many problems on its plate. Personally? I think whoever thought this was a good idea should be canned. Won’t happen, though, b/c there are enough touchy, feely assholes in high places that make such action acceptable.’

First thing the VA can do to let the veteran population know they are serious about making positive change? Can the union. That would improve patient care immediately as its primary purpose is to protect those with a crappy attitude. Get rid of the no loads. JMHO. Your views may vary.

  16. STGSN says:

If they were only doing this for one day, why couldn’t they have left the service branch flags where they were and just perhaps set up an additional, “temporary” flagpole?
Or would that have made too much sense?

  17. HMCS(FMF) ret says:

Maybe it’s me, but every time I hear about shoving gay rights in my face, i think back to the quote from Orwell’s “Animal Farm”,

“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”

  18. Jarhead says:

What the hell? Next the V A will come up with a service connected compensation claim for lock jaw.

  19. David says:

Dunno, this gives the fag flag exactly the recognition it deserves. One facility, one day, one and done. Enough.

  20. JimV says:

    Unbelievable!

BTW, at my local VA Hospital, they have a LGBTQ (did I get the letters in the right order?) advertisement being displayed on the wall mounted monitors throughout the VA.

    • Claw says:

(did I get the letters in the right order?)

Yes, you did. But around here at TAH you need to add a few more letters, though.

The actual acronym used here is LGBTQWTFBBQ (H/T to 2/17 Air Cav)/smile

  21. Sparks says:

    Sons of bitches anyway!

  22. USAF RET says:

Flag-pole sitters. Grew up there and was on first thing smoking the hell out. Left in 1982 and haven’t returned.

  23. Perry Gaskill says:

Something annoying about the LGBTQWTFBBQ flag story is that the decision to fly the flag is attributed to the “VA Northern Indiana Healthcare System.” In point of fact, the VA Northern Indiana Healthcare System could not have ordered the flag flown because the VA Northern Indiana Healthcare System is not a person.

The reality is that within the VA system, an individual or group of people decided to fly the flag. Rather than face the possible outrage of such a decision, such an individual or group has used anonymity to evade consequences in what amounts to a form of factional cowardice. It also gives the impression that such a decision is the result of a VA institutional consensus when it’s more likely the result of a few pushing an LGBTQWTFBBQ agenda.

Anybody naive enough to believe such a faction representing homosexuals wants real equality, and not to be put on a pedestal, should be asking the question: Where’s the flag for the heterosexual straight people?

  24. FatCircles0311 says:

The cult of worshipping extremely unhealthy sexual perversion. Whomever made the decision is a fucking loon that should be in no position of power. They could have put up a sign advocating for illegal drug use and it would be less dangerous than advocating for for what that flag represents. That isn’t a hospital that’s a propaganda building celebrating completely preventable disease.

  25. Friend says:

If it happened in California I wouldn’t be surprised…

  26. Duane says:

So – does this mean that next week, or next month whenever they are going to take them all down and put the Gadsden flag up for equal time? Fair is fair, right??

  27. Jon The Mechanic says:

Honestly, this falls into the “who gives a damn category” for me.

I have a friend who served with me who is bisexual, and a proud Liberal. While we were deployed, she was a harder worker than half of the “hard chargers” in our unit, and did more to make sure that our mission was a success than 2/3 of the unit.

While we were downrange, I also had the opportunity to debate her on quite a few matters, and when she received unwanted attention from guys, I took them off to the side and quietly reminded them of the fact that we had been told by our platoon sgt prior to our deployment that ANY harassment of her was grounds for an asswhooping from me and a couple of other guys in the platoon, and there would be no questions asked by the chain of command.

I am proud to call her my friend, and still talk to her weekly.

  28. AnotherPat says:

    So….

Do you all think the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System in Fort Wayne will do this again next year?😉

Tomorrow, 14 June, is Flag Day!🇺🇸

  29. 5JC says:

I find it very insulting. What that VA is saying by this gesture is that the services do not recognize or support gay members therefore they require special recognition.

  30. Reverend Pointyhead says:

“we chose to remove all of them for one day in order to show our dedication to serving all Veterans equally.”

By taking down all service flags and flying a flag representative of a minority?

Replace LBGT flag with that of a different nation or community and realize how idiotic that argument is.

    • Reverend Pointyhead says:

Sadly this is one of those instances where the “I’m the word of God but I’m just a comedian so take a joke” side of “entertainment” would find this outrage funny.

Yea, I’m “triggered” by a government organization taking an obligation outside of its scope for no reason but to show-boat and stir the pot in a passive “see? we all get offended” counter. The difference here being I could also kick your ass if I’m “triggered” enough from being provoked. Unless you happen to be a lady, in that case I’ll render you into a sobbing puddle.

  31. 2/17 Air Cav says:

Fagggotry here. Faggot there. Faggotry everywhere. Some people take exception to my pushing back against the LGBTWTFBBQ crowd and a couple of them are here abouts but, dammit, if its not parading perverts in Frisco, it’s this that and the other thing all the time. And don’t tell me those two males in the Sonic commercials aren’t queer. Jeez. I’m sick of it. Back in the closet! Do what you will and shut the hell up about it.

    • 5JC says:

Gosh, don’t look at the Vegas commercial then.

    • Jarhead says:

Good to know someone else realized the two sweet dudes in the Sonic commercials are pretty much light in the loafers. One day we’ll see both of them together slurping on some phallic shaped hot dogs and saying, “Damn, Freedo, ain’t nothin’ better than a big ol’ long juicy dong, I mean dog”. As for running up the fag flag, leave the others up and put it below the others. You know, bottom side up. Leave that big brown eye right in the middle of it.

  32. 2/17 Air Cav says:

    Pissed-off typing produces many mistakes.

  33. Lurker Curt says:

    Total bullshit! Fucking assholes!!! 😉

    But seriously- total fucking bullshit!

  34. Deplorable B Woodman says:

Should have been one or two men to approach that rainbow flag. No, not to salute, but to squirt lighter fluid on the flag and apply a lit lighter thereof.
Then unass the AO post haste.

  35. Mark Lauer says:

If they wanted to show they are in support of all veterans, regardless of race, creed, or sex, they should have raised the UNITED STATES FLAG.

  36. Josh Morgan says:

I love how most of the comments on here start with the obligatory, “I have nothing against the homosexuals but…”. You all are the biggest bunch of god damn whiners I have ever seen. What happened, did someone try to “convert” you? Maybe tried to suck your dick while you weren’t looking? Piss off! I’m glad most of you fucking retards aren’t in the military anymore. The rest of you are just a bunch of AD pussies who post under fake names.

    • HMCS(FMF) ret says:

“Josh”… go suck a bag of dicks.

    • Jarhead says:

Listen sweet pea, it was a matter of RESPECT ignored for those who have made the sacrifices vs. the disrespect shown by the removal of the flag we fought so valiantly for by “honoring” a bunch of damned queers. Most of which could give a shit less about pride in uniform and country. Don’t refer to me as an AD pussy. I am a former Marine who realizes your post must surely have been made from a defensive stand point after you earned a dollar out behind a truck stop on your knees. Us “whiners” (as you referred to us) could give a rat’s ass about a bunch of queers. It’s the flag we have such great respect for and you OBVIOUSLY have no idea what we are talking about. Your recapped lips have given you away. You sound like an angry young man who has an anger issue with the rest of the world being fed up with your so-called “Gay Pride” parades where you all walk down a street looking like a bunch of morons who would dress up like that, none of which we would care to have around our children. Gosh Josh, your post reminds me of an old joke. What do gay reindeer do after the holidays? They go out and blow a few bucks. Meanwhile Josh, why don’t you quityourbitchin’ and go sit on a unicorn?

    • 26Limabeans says:

Hey Josh….slosh it around before you swallow.

  37. Howard A. Heminger says:

    WTF

  38. 2/17 Air Cav says:

“The Martinsburg [West Virginia] Veterans Affairs Medical Center held its fifth annual lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer pride celebration on Wednesday.” […]

“Pride month is a big deal around here, and we want to make sure everyone’s taken care of.” (The Journal, 14 June 2018)

I think it’s time to make queer promotion an Olympic event.

    • OWB says:

So why is lesbian stated first? Does that mean they are more important? Doesn’t seem fair to the others.

What’s next? Missionary month? Doggy style month? Masturbation month? Pedophilia month?

For the haters out there who continue to confuse revulsion at being forced to passively participate in the sexual activities of others with bigotry, here’s the deal: Why should I care how you practice your sexuality and with whom? As long as it is with a consenting adult, that is your decision and none of my business. But, when you do whatever it is on my lawn you make it my business.

Is it really all that difficult for folks to understand that sex is a private act and not something that most of us want to watch on a public street? Most of them get it and just don’t care.

For the record, in case it is still not clear – I don’t want anyone getting it on on my front porch and, should it happen, feel perfectly justified in making them stop. That applies to straight people so why should it not also apply to gays? No bigotry, homophobia, or any kind of -ism involved.

      • Mason says:

        Well said, OWB.

The same could be said for S&M, rape fantasy, and many other sexual proclivities. Do what you want, but keep what’s supposed to be private private.

  39. Jarhead says:

What are new recruits going to think when they join and are issued a pair of crotchless skivvies?

  40. Old Trooper says:

“we chose to remove all of them for one day in order to show our dedication to serving all Veterans equally”

Ok, let’s look at the twisted logic. In order to treat them all equally, we’re going to single out a small minority and treat it special, which will ignore the equality statement.

    Stoopid fucks

  41. Jarhead says:

This just might be the character in charge of flags; at least for one recent day. Imagine that.

    • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

I ONLY made it through about 30-45 seconds of that until I said “FUCK, NO!” wishing for him/it to piss some NYC Gangster types off enough to where they stuff a feather up his ass and use him as a dart!

  42. Twist says:

What, the Navy flag wasn’t LGBTQWTFBBQ enough? I can’t believe nobody had picked the low hanging fruit yet.
