Suicide bomber in Kabul

| February 27, 2013

A bus on which Afghan soldiers were riding to work was bombed in Kabul by a dude with overcoat and an umbrella. It looks like he just slid himself under the bus and detonated, injuring 7 people, six of whom were soldiers says the Associated Press;

The attacker set down his umbrella in the middle of the road as he approached the bus, then lay down next to the bus and pushed himself underneath, Shakib said.

“I thought to myself, `What is this crazy man doing? And then there was a blast and flames,'” Shakib said.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the attack in a text message to The Associated Press.

There no word yet if Afghanistan’s President Hamid Karzai has condemned the attack yet, or ordered the Taliban out of Kabul like he’s done with American special forces soldiers in neighboring Wardak Province.

    Karsai should have gone to the blast site and sorted through the detritus gathering remnants of the decedent bomber. Nothing like standing through an autopsy. Maybe that would wake his ass up.

    “Spokesmen for the Defense Ministry and the Interior Ministry said no one was killed in the blast.” Well, nearly no one. I’m guessing that the guy won’t be needing that umbrella any longer. But he did take out a bus so I guess it’s not a total fail.

    That happened just down the road from my camp when I was there ’05 to ’06, but instead of that stunt, it was a motorcycle VBIED at KMTC’s front gate. I miss hearing about the “Wile E. Coyote bombers” that blew themselves to confetti without hurting anyone.
