Piers Morgan: America turned on me

| February 24, 2014

Andy sends us a link to an AFP link about CNN pulling the plug on Piers Morgan’s show, whatever it was called. Of course, Piers doesn’t admit that it’s because he’s a talentless hack who couldn’t even attract Leftists to the slot formerly home to Larry King. He blames Americans for not being nuanced enough to appreciate him;

“Look, I am a British guy debating American cultural issues, including guns, which has been very polarizing, and there is no doubt that there are many in the audience who are tired of me banging on about it,” he added.

[…]

America has suffered an epidemic of gun violence over the last three decades. The vast majority of weapons used have been semi-automatic weapons obtained legally by the killers.

Yeah, nice try, there Agency France, but gun violence has actually declined in the last three decades, but then just saying it makes it true, huh?

So, the anglophile New York Times writes;

Mr. Morgan’s approach to gun regulation was more akin to King George III, peering down his nose at the unruly colonies and wondering how to bring the savages to heel. He might have wanted to recall that part of the reason the right to bear arms is codified in the Constitution is that Britain was trying to disarm the citizenry at the time.

He regrets none of it, but clearly understands his scolding of “stupid” opponents of gun laws was not everyone’s cup of tea.

“I’m in danger of being the guy down at the end of the bar who is always going on about the same thing,” he said. He added that he was sure there were plenty of people in the heartland angry “about this British guy telling them how to lead their lives and what they should do with their guns.”

Americans don’t like to be told how to think about an issue, we just want the facts, but cable news has become 24-hour editorializing from journalists, who really aren’t experts on any subject except themselves and their feelings. We don’t really give a rat’s tiny, furry ass about what journalists think about an issue. So, CNN, here’s the secret to an effective news show – report the news and let us guess about the politics of the person giving that news to us. Morgan’s problem wasn’t that he was British preaching to Americans, it was that he was preaching to us, no matter what kind of accent he has. We don’t watch Rachel Maddow for the same reason and he doesn’t have an accent.

Actually…I don’t like a Brit running their ball washer about anything

  3. Devtun says:

The interview w/ Sheriff Chris Nocco was one of the most galling…the Sheriff to his credit maintained his composure & refused to take the bait.

  4. 2/17 Air Cav says:

    Piers who?

  5. Joe Williams says:

Cloud not have happened sooner. Now let’s arrange for his deportation to face the his lawsuit. Maybe other legal problems. Piers’s snooty I am better than any of you . His talking over his guests , never letting them answer the questions. Joe

  6. Ex-PH2 says:

The guy who was the editor of a vicious tabloid in the UK loses his job there, gets on the AGT judging panel, which is where he should have stayed. And then he decides that he’s bored and it isn’t enough attention. So he goes and takes Larry King’s seat and tries to beat his own drum.

Why is he still living here? He’s a boring, self-centered twinky twit who thinks his opinions count for something. Yeah, I hope he does find himself snoring at the end of a bar with a half-empty bottle of Scotland’s cheapest at his elbow.

But more important, what on earth is the NYT doing supporting the US Constitution? Who is the ‘radical’ that wrote that piece? Goodness me, what is the world coming to?

  7. nbcguy54 says:

“America has suffered an epidemic of gun violence over the last three decades.”
No Piers, that isn’t the problem. America has suffered an epidemic of snotty, holier than thou, people from England who think their fancy accent helps them sound a whole lot more important and credible than they really are. Go back home with the rest of the gang and beat up on your own, perfect country. We don’t need ya.

  8. Beretverde says:

CNN is the king of popping up retreads. Rick “Operation Tail Wind” Kaplan was the heart and soul of the network’s downfall…they have NEVER recovered. Morgan is just another number.

Their agenda (CNN’s) is warped and corrupt.

  9. Hondo says:

2/17 Air Cav: I think he was some foreign-born j-hole who used to be on CNN. Not positive, as I don’t think I ever saw his show (if he in fact had one).

  10. Old Tanker says:

Maybe we could get Jeremy Clarkson to punch him on the nose again……

  11. Ex-PH2 says:

2/17AirCav, he was just another rude, self=important, boring idiot on TV, who thought he knew more than anyone else about something.

  12. GDContractor says:

Glad to see he finally took the advice from all the good folks posting on his Facebook page, although he made us all wait a year to do it.

  13. Oathkeeper says:

So, Piers – you’ve managed to piss off TWO – count ’em – TWO countries now with the nonsense that you spew. Hows about you go and apply for that there one-way mission to Mars, you dolt!

    GOOD RIDDANCE!

  14. Bobo says:

I heard that Russia Today is hiring. I don’t think that his viewership would decrease with the move.

  19. brat says:

Funny thing that, about Americans not wanting to hear Brit accents opining on all things US.. I’ve never had that problem!!!

And for the record? England does not WANT Morgan back. Trust me on that.

Please keep him….(as well as Beiber….lol)

  20. A Proud Infidel says:

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Where’s the like button when you need it! 😀

  22. Combat Historian says:

Piers Morgan is just another in the long line of English celebrity has-beens/failures/nobodies who run to America when their shit has crapped out in the home country and think they can make their celebrity fortunes again in the colonies just because they have an English accent. Fuck you and your English anti-gun drivel and get the fuck out of my country (and yes, you can take most of the Manhattanites with you too)…

  23. MrBill says:

@21 – I never figured out why MSNBC would give a prime-time talk show to a teenage boy.

  24. Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

The sum total of the entire viewing audience of CNN with or without the illustrious Mr. Piers Morgan is considerably less than any single episode of “Keeping up with the Kardashians”…..the clear lesson for CNN should be that their attempts to be entertaining make for less compelling television than a show about people who are famous for fucking on film and having been married to OJs dead lawyer….

Effective news shows are not in the pantheon of CNN offerings. Ineffective, hyberbolic, idiocy seems to be the norm there, thus there pathetic ratings and pathetic fees for commercial time due to lack of audience….all these lefty opinion commentators completely misunderstand what makes Limbaugh (whom you all know I despise) and Hannity so popular is that regardless of their expressed view point they are entertaining and make compelling media….Maddow, Morgan, Cuomo, Blitzer, et all not so much.

Good riddance to Mr. Morgan…if that little fella Maddow is next that would be awesome.

“I’m in danger of being the guy down at the end of the bar who is always going on about the same thing,” he said.

Yea? Knowing me, I’d be the one to kick his f’ng barstool out from under him on my way to go piss. And then, I’d do it again on my way back to the bar just for shits n giggles since it would be him sitting on that f’ng barstool.

  26. H1 says:

    Piers,
Here’s a couple cups of coffee and a rope.
    Have fun.

  27. Green Thumb says:

    About time.

I am surprised he did not have Dildoberto on as a guest.

  28. The Other Whitey says:

Yes, please, send his lying ass back to Britain! Last I heard, the British Army has a lynch mob waiting for the lying sack of shit!

And since VWPussy is likely to pop up defending this shitbag any second now, he/she/it should go with him. Not that I actually wish that on the fine folks across the pond, I’d just really like to be rid of that turd as well.

  29. Farflung Wanderer says:

Ah, Mister Piers Morgan. Let me start by saying that I am an Anglophile to the core. I love England, it’s people, and what it has done for western civilization since the Empire was formed. One of my favorite historical figures is English, Prime Minister Winston Churchill. Though, I’m sure, you don’t care much for the man seeing as he believes the exact opposite as you.

You came to this country because you had alienated your own people and you were searching for a job in the land of opportunity, a place where jobs are earned, not given, and a person can make it if they try their hardest. You clearly proved yourself, and that is why you got such a high-making and well publicized job. However, once there you began to abuse the 1st Amendment of the United States Constitution to use your position as a soapbox to preach what you believed, and to do so aggressively and with little care on who is hurt and whether or not what you say is true.

Now you are surprised that you are being demonized, that you are now the social pariah. I cannot say what hubris affects you, but I can say that it is similar to the hubris displayed against the American colonies during the mid-18th Century. The situation has changed, and you have no physical power to enforce what you speak, but you create the same base anger: Lack of Representation. We are more than willing to listen to you, despite our differences, Mister Morgan, but you barely even let the opposition have time of day to counter your claims on your claimed “open forum”. America is fine with listening to the other side when things are civil and what you are claiming is sane. While the latter barely qualifies as such, the former you lack entirely.

So yes, we want you gone, Mister Morgan. Do not be surprised; you insulted a great nation’s intelligence and it’s moral fiber. You saw this coming, you tried to delay it as long as possible, but an end is coming. Please, leave with grace so that we may at least say that he knew when it was over and was a gracious loser. Else, all the American people will remember of you is just another man with the accent of a great civilization but the heart and cunning of one left behind by the gears and sands of history.

  30. Green Thumb says:

    @29.

And take Nancy Grace with you.

    Our contribution to British society!

  31. Ex-PH2 says:

So long as he stays at the end of the bar and doesn’t hit on me, I don’t care what happens to him.

    He’s conceited and boring.

  32. Roger in Republic says:

The British have a word for guys like Piers, Twat. That’s with a long A and rhymes with that. I think it has different meaning than our word of the same spelling.

  33. ExHack says:

VOV: “The sum total of the entire viewing audience of CNN with or without the illustrious Mr. Piers Morgan is considerably less than any single episode of “Keeping up with the Kardashians”…..the clear lesson for CNN should be that their attempts to be entertaining make for less compelling television than a show about people who are famous for fucking on film and having been married to OJs dead lawyer…”

You are one of the ONLY people who remember how the Kardashian mob initially achieved escape velocity into the orbit of C-list mediawhore fame. If I had a nickel for every coworker, friend and acquaintance who I had to remind who Bob Kardashian was and the (hanger-on) role he played in the OJ saga, and how THAT is how that bunch of hacks got in the limelight, I could retire.

  34. FatCircles0311 says:

lol @ constitutional rights being “cultural issues”.

    What a scumbag.

Why can’t we deport this retard?

  35. David says:

@30 – seems to me I saw a headline over the weekend in which even Nancy Grace was yelling at him to STFU.

  36. MCPO NYC USN Ret. says:

    Piers who?

    KMRIA!

  37. MCPO NYC USN Ret. says:

Oh. I just noticed Air Cav used that. Figure how that could happen.

  38. OldSargeUSAR says:

    @1 Airborne

    “It” also applies.
