Clarence M. “Butch” Belangia of Kill Devil Hills, NC; phony veteran

| February 7, 2015

This is a BOLO for the folks of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. Folks wrote us about this guy there who has been preying on well-meaning people there trying to get them to open their wallets to him. His name is Clarence M. “Butch” Belangia and he claims that he was a Vietnam Marine veteran with a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart and a Medal of Honor. A vigilant veteran discovered that he didn’t appear on any of the lists of Medal of Honor recipients and, of course, the locals attacked the legitimate veteran for being mean to the phony veteran who was making sh1t up.

Anyway, Mr. Belangia continued his malfeasance and even had a GoFundMe page erected for the open-hearted community. The local Travel Lodge gave him accommodations free of charge despite evidence that he is a liar. But his valorous military service has been downgraded to two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart now to fit the lack of proof of the Medal of Honor. Well, here, let me downgrade his service even further;

Clarence Belangia FOIA

The National Personnel Records Center has no record of him serving in any of the branches of the military…ever. By the way, his kids even told the community that he hadn’t served, but people were looking for a hero, apparently. Ol’ Butch here is just another stank ass hippie who successfully avoided the Vietnam-era draft and now regrets it. If you people in Kill Devil Hills want to give him money, well, go ahead, but at least do so knowing the facts about Butch. He’s taking you for a ride, and he’s enjoying it.

Hey Kill Devil Hills, if you want to send money to a real Vet just let me know.

  2. MSGRetired says:

Well ya cant fix Stupid, even when its an entire community. But in a gesture of Southern Hospitality ” Bless their Hearts “

  3. Skippy says:

This is the type of stolen valor that just piss’s me off

That money could have been put to good use purchasing software from FirsTech Solutions, over.

“a Vietnam Marine veteran with a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart and a Medal of Honor”. Wow, go big or go home I guess is the order of the day for the illiterate and highly uniformed posers currently. Being from North Carolina originally and knowing the Kill Devil Hills area well, I am quite embarrassed this ass hole is getting away with such a lie. Maybe the next time I’m at a Travel Lodge I’ll toss my GCM on the counter and ask, “Hey what does this get me?” Then remind them of the Travel Lodge in KDH, NC. I would applaud his backing it down a bit to ONLY “two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart” but the Purple Heart is near and dear to me and on the top of my list for ass holes like Butch. No account for him at GoFundme that I could find so maybe his luck is running out or the local IQs are a few points higher lately.

I can hear the Travel Lodge clerk now. “A three week stay…Do you have a major credit card sir?” “Well, no but I have a Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Medal of Honor from Vietnam.” “Really sir! Well let’s just get you signed right up then! Room service is on the house and the restaurant attached belongs to us so anything you want there, just sign for it and we’ll take care of it. We appreciate our veterans sir and I must say you are the very first Medal of Honor recipient to stay with us. On behalf of the management I want to thank you so much for your service and for choosing our Travel Lodge instead of the Howard Johnson’s across the highway. By the way looks like you need some laundry and dry cleaning done. Also, on us sir! Enjoy your room and if there’s anything else we can do to make your stay better just dial zero from your suite’s phone.”

I guess IQs in parts of my old home state have dropped sharply since I was there last. Makes me sad really. But then again, there are proportionately as many from there as anywhere I guess. A few come to mind.

    • Patty says:

YOU are the ASSHOLE!!! Dianna is NOT the way you make her out to be. As the front desk clerk! Jerk of an IDIOT YOU ARE!!! They CHECKED ALL CREDENTIALS AND AAW THE PAPERS!!!!! Get your shit straight before you disrespect someone!!!

      • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Wait now, who’s disrespecting who? It’s been confirmed that Charles M. Belangia is a fraud, he presented fake documents to obtain things for free, and that constitutes fraud in many States as well as violation of Federal law in claiming to be a Medal of Honor Recipient in attempts to obtaining things from people. FACT: You’ve been conned and you need to accept it.

        • oxbgal says:

1st of all Butch never asked anyone for anything.he did NOT use being a Vet ,as you guys say, to scam folks…FACT! Secondly, who is forging signatures requesting military service records??? He’s not dead …so it’s illegal for next of kin to do pissed off ex wife.. you guys really have alot of aggression against someone that never, ever used being in the service to gain anything for himself.

          • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

It’s against Federal Law to falsely claim a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Or Medal of Honor for one’s own gain, and your fellow has done that. The vast majority of us here at TAH HAVE served, many have overseas in Combat Zones, and we’ve lost friends over there. The conman you’re defending is riding OUR coattails for his own gain, and he’s been discovered. You’ve been conned, and it’s time to accept it!

          • Bobo says:

Oxbgal, no one has to forge anything to get a redacted copy of service records. If you take a look at the instruction and information sheet for an SF-180, you’ll see that paragraph 2.a. states “If the appropriate signature cannot be obtained, only limited types of information can be provided.”

If you want to try to sue for someone filling out a FOIA request for public records, I know a lawyer who’ll take your case, but you’d better get to him before he’s disbarred.

          • MCPO NYC USN Ret. says:

I am calling the Paragraph and Punctuation Police on you and making a full and complete report!

      • Big Steve says:

And you are quite the potty mouth, Patty.
Poor way to try and make your case… dirty words and bad grammar.

    • helpthehomeless says:

Thats the problem he didnt stay at the travelodge for free!!! He has been a regular there the past 2 years staying when he had the money. His accommodations were paid for. So sure come on down and stay at the travelodge I hear they do give military discount rates just bring your military ID!!!!

    • helpthehomeless says:

Wow there are some really angry people are this site!!!! Do some of you possibly suffer from PTSD? You might wanna get help for all that built up anger. If you lived on the OBX and were homeless id try my best to help you as well as anyone else. As far as I know none of you work for the VA or the government but you all seem to think you know his story! Ill pray for each and everyone of you because by some of your angry comments you need them.

      • Pinto Nag says:

You want to do something for us? Go find a REAL hero to worship, instead of a Stolen Valor shitbag. After 13 years of sending our young men and women into harm’s way, you could at least go find a real veteran to bend your attentions on.

      • OIF '06-'07-'08 says:

Listen helpthehomeless, you are a real worthless work of art, and no I do not suffer from the PSTD. What I do suffer is a good ‘ol fashioned George Carlin complex called “No tolerance for other people’s stupid bullshit” Specially from those that are lying frauds and con artist.

Helpthehomeless, you can go straight to hell and intill you do a tour of duty in a combat zone, you can go straight to hell in a handbasket.

        Have a nice day SOCKPUPPET.

      • 3E9 says:

Angry? You bet. PTSD? Debatable. I tend to get pissed when someone lies about military service. And where any of us work has nothing to do with him being a lying shitbird. I don’t know his story, nor do I care what his story is. All I see is a lying dipshit and a bunch of people who for some reason can’t accept the fact they were duped.

      • FasterThanFastjack says:

Oh, the OBX area? I might have to pay this scumbag a visit. That’s not too far from my current post.

      • rb325th says:

Here is a hearty FUCK YOU!! For that PTS comment. You ignorant ass twat waffle!! The good old “crazy vet” meme being shoved in our faces will never win you any friends around here.

      • Ex-PH2 says:

PTSD? No, dipstick, I don’t have to make phony claims about my service or anything else.

You are abundantly stupid, you know. That guilt complex you’re dragging around with you (just NOT good enough, so…. whatever, to feel good about yourself) isn’t going to be fixed by supporting a con artist who knows a fool when he sees one.

It would be beneficial to your mental state if you woke up and smelled the coffee, you moron. You have been had, but good, but a con man. He knows a sucker and a fool when he sees them. He can smell them a mile away. All that guilt of yours makes you stick out like a sore thumb and he found you right away.

It’s one thing to be generous.

It’s another thing entirely to be a damned fool, and you are.

      • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

I said it once and I’ll say it again, DON’T MESS WITH EX-PH2, she’ll pounce on you like a lioness on a prey animal, but like a mentor once told me, “You can’t help a fool.”.

      • Ex-PH2 says:

And while I”m at it, if you REALLY want to do some good, why not go up to Detroit City and help out all those homeless, indigent people up there? That city’s a train wreck imploding on itself. I’m sure they could use the help from someone like you, who needs the fix you get from your efforts to ‘do good in this world’.

Detroit needs you, kiddo. Go north and start something.

        • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

AAAHH, Detroitistan, run by liberal do-gooder pols for decades, and look at what it got them!

    • USMCE8Ret says:

Sparks? Have you ever seen “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”? There’s a scene where Steve Martin pretends to be a crippled veteran at a roulette table. He take a medal off his uniform with hopes he can trade it for cash so he can stay in the game. Funny stuff.

  6. B Woodman says:

Sheeple will sheep. But at least an attempt was made to educate them. If they choose not to listen and become educated, . . . .

  7. Thunderstixx says:

This guy should go to jail for fraud.
I might even hazard a call to the Police Department on Monday to see if I can stir some shit up for this guy to munch on for a couple of days.
Since he has gotten financial compensation for his asshattery he deserves to spend some time in the hoosegow…

  8. Jordan Rott says:

Only the biggest piece of shit would claim a MoH that didn’t have one. You have to be have the mental level of a potato and the moral compass of a child molester to do something like that.

  9. Green Thumb says:

It seems that it is time for this turd to phone Forgin’ Frank Visconti.

Why call Saul when you have Frank?

  10. Wende Shannon says:

First let me say I’ve never served in the military, but close relatives have in WWII. I hate that anyone lies about service to gain anything, but I will never be ashamed for trying to help anyone who needs it. Yes, there are scam artists everywhere, but the mere fact that many know this man, and the police gave him money when they found him asleep in his car tells me all I need to know. Who the hell do you people think you are calling me and those who helped low IQ, or sheeple??? Your vindictiveness those of you are showing towards those who helped is almost as bad, and sad, as anyone who lied. The document posted just means the not-perfect federal government can’t find anything. Big deal. There was a huge loss of old war records in a fire, so my grandfather’s WWII records were lost. They can’t find anything on him either. Does that mean he didn’t serve? It is easy for non-veterans to misunderstand medals. Maybe he lied some, a lot, or none at all. Maybe his kids are liars, or his ex wife. I don’t know or care at this point. If you believe or not, help or not, DO NOT slam those who do. Jesus said you won’t know if it is Him knocking at your door asking for help. I will help, and let God sort out the liars and thieves. They will get what they deserve from One greater than me!!!

    • Mustang1LT says:

      Sockpuppet cleanup on Aisle 4!

Alright jackass, you want attention….you’ve got our undivided attention. Don’t come on this site and try to act like we’re the ones who did something wrong here. WE are not thieves and fraudsters like the subject of this article. WE served and served honorably. You trying to rationalize your decision to help a con man only confirms that you’re an idiot. And by the way, get bent.

    • nbcguy54 says:

Nothing wrong with helping people. But when they use lies and deceit to take advantage of those who offer that help, that puts them in the scum category. Perhaps you’re one who helped him and now have “buyers remorse” now that you know you got scammed. Thanks for doing what you thought was the right thing – but DO NOT come onto this site spewing that crap that you did. Do a little research on the records fire dear. Didn’t affect his pretend records. MoH records are known on every service member back to the Civil War. This guy screwed some well meaning people, but don’t come in here all pissed because you’re one of them. If you want to help, you can do two things-give to legit organizations and don’t talk smack about things you don’t know about.

    • Jonn Lilyea says:

There were almost no Navy records in that fire, but nice try – we’ve heard it all before.

    • helpthehomeless says:

Well said!!! The VA in Virginia said they personally can not find information without a SS# or copy of military records such as a DD214 unless someone has actually applied for benefits. Which to my knowledge he never has. I seen his DD214. He told some of us that he prayed and asked God if he got him out of vietnam he would never asked the government for anything he has remained true to his word. Personally I could careless he is a human who was in need of help that he never asked for. As far as his children they should be ashamed of themselves id never let my parents be in that condition regardless of the past and his ex wife just doesnt wanna be blamed since she left him high and dry!!!!

      • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

A bit of advice: First, take a Remedial English class and learn about capitalization and punctuation. Second, take a deep breath and accept the fact you’ve been conned and scammed, I know it’s not easy to do, it’s happened to me before!

        • Patty says:

AWWWW….Auto Correct strikes again….get over it and YOURSELF and it’s easy to hit wrong keys….you’re just a prejudiced asshole PERIOD

          • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Prejudiced? NOPE, I’ve just been around the block a few times, I’m also an Army Vet with three overseas tours, I’ve been there, done that, and I get ultra-pissed whenever I see some sniveling con artist who never served claiming a Medal that was awarded to those wounded and killed, now here you and yours are having a case of the ass because we outed the poser you pampered while saying “LOOK AT ME!”. You were conned, time to admit it!

          • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

A bit of advice, DON’T MESS WITH EX-PH2, she’ll tear you apart like a Lioness on a prey animal!!!

        • Ex-PH2 says:

Keep it up, Patty, you bitch. You’re biting off more than you can chew.

That sloppiness isn’t hitting wrong keys and isn’t auto-correct. It’s nothing but functional illiteracy and laziness.

The only prejudice I see here is coming from YOU, bitch. Keep it up.

      • 3E9 says:

If he has a MoH and never applied for benefits then he is a con man AND an idiot. The VA will be more than happy to provide him with a pension that MoH recipients receive.

      • Red Ghost says:

“He told some of us that he prayed and asked God if he got him out of Vietnam (sic) he would never asked the government for anything he has remained true to his word.”. Really? Really? Does that even seem logical? Especially if he is homeless and living in a car? My BS Detector just blew up.

      • rb325th says:

The VA in Virginia, and for that matter anywhere else will not give you any information on any Veteran. Even if you walk in with his rotting corpse in your arms. Veterans Health care will tell you nicely to go to hell, and VBA will laugh in your face.
That is not where the information came from, and you are obviously completely full of shit.
Freedom of Information Requeest filed with the National Archives will get you information on any Veteran. It will not get you all of it, but it will get you enough.
So again, a hearty FUCK YOU!.

    • Marine_7002 says:

The “huge loss of old war records in a fire” didn’t affect Marine records. Read this:

“Maybe he lied some, a lot, or none at all. Maybe his kids are liars, or his ex wife. I don’t know or care at this point.”

It’s pretty sad that you would condone someone who lies to obtain things of material value, including money, under false pretenses. Wake up and smell the coffee.

    • MCPO NYC USN Ret. says:

Ah … Sorry God rewards honest people with ever-lasting life in HIS kingdom.

We, the truthseekers, will sort out the liars and thieves in preparation for hell!

      That is all!

    • Pinto Nag says:

Every time you help a poser, you take needed attention away from a real veteran. YOU, with your misguided attempts at help and your inability to see the truth even when it’s waved in your face, are part of the problem and no kind of solution.

    • Ex-PH2 says:

Just one little question: how come these phonies almost ALWAYS invoke God when they see a sucker coming?

      And which commandment were broken?

      Thou shalt not lie.

      Thou shalt not steal.

Thou shalt not take the Lord the God’s name in vain.

      Did I forget anything?

      • Ex-PH2 says:

Durnburnit – typos. That should be ‘the Lord THY God’.

Definitely not enough caffeine. I must make a stronger pot of tea for consumption at sunrise.

  11. helpthehomeless says:

1st of all he did not stay at the travelodge for FREE (so someone should really get their story straight before posting it) his accommodations were paid for. 2nd he never asked for help out of the generosity of Dianas heart she did this on her own not because of any military affiliation but because he is an elderly homeless HUMAN BEING!!!! He never said he had a medal of honor that was a miscommunication on her part and was quickly corrected. I personally can do with my money as I wish because its MINE… I dont care if he served in any branch the simple fact is he is an old man who was sleeping in a car. HE had nothing to do with the help he was being offered he never asked for it. Thankfully the gofundme page allowed him to get a permanent residence and it was less then you all might believe. Someone is just butthurt. Im glad I live in a community that helps each other out and this is not the 1st time MY community has stepped up and helped someone in need. Maybe some of you should try it.

    • helpthehomeless says:

O by the way ive seen the DD214

      • Jonn Lilyea says:

Then he should show it to someone who knows what they’re looking at. You trolls are all amateurs, we’ve heard all of these excuses before. Try to be original.

        • helpthehomeless says:

Excuse me… how do you know me again? and know if I know what im looking at or not????

          • Marine_7002 says:

OK, sockpuppet. A bit of clarification for you here. That’s the Veteran’s Administration talking. Of course they don’t have his records unless HE submits a DD-214 to them, because the VA is NOT the US Government’s source repository of servicemember’s records.

That’s the job of the National Personnel Records Center. Take a look at the letter at the top of this page, it clearly states that Belangia NEVER SERVED IN ANY MILITARY SERVICE. The full scoop behind getting and interpreting a veteran’s records is at I strongly suggest you read it in its entirety.

Oh, and the “burned records” thing is bullshit for Marines. Here you go:

And straight from the NPRC, here you go:

If he showed someone a DD-214, it’s 99.9 percent certain it’s fake. But feel free to send a copy of it to Jonn, the owner/operator of this blog, at

            • clamsgotlegs says:

After my father died, I helped my Mom get my Dad’s records for a grave marker.

When the records came back from NPRC — imagine my surprise when the paperwork said that his records were in the fire. And yet they were able to compile his records with a paper trail over of orders etc over an inch thick for just a few years service.

        • jesse ambrose says:

As a Vietnam veteran and a Marine I know what a DD 214 looks like and his sure appears real. I asked to see it, he did not volunteer to show it, was glad to be able to help a homeless man whether a vet or not. He is not the first and God willing he won’t be the last.

          • Joe Williams says:

Jesse, what was your MOS? The fakes are getting better at forging DD-214s. Joe

          • 3/17 Air Cav says:

Uh, Jesse in the future when your responding. Put Marine in front of Vietnam Vet. This will help you in your future sockpuppeting. It will give you a little more credibility!

      • nbcguy54 says:

Look around this site and you’ll see a dozen faked DD214s from other phonies that have been busted here. Fairly easy to make. If he has a legit 214 there should be other legit records too. Funny how NPRC says “who?”.
Y’all can do whatever thrills you over there I reckon. But don’t come in here all butt-hurt cause you messed up.

  12. OWB says:

Oh, great. Another load of crap.

So here’s the deal, people of Kill Devil Hills NC: Give money, love and attention to whomever you wish for whatever reason. But, when you take a national or international stage, don’t be surprised when you are ridiculed for acting stupid in public. Yes, pretending that someone has military accolades which he does not have is stupid. Stop whining about it already! Folks who want to keep a community thing local should avoid drawing the attention of people who recognize acting stupid and are willing to call it what it is.

  13. Ex-PH2 says:

Is that a butt-load of defensiveness in those angry bird posts, or what?

Man! I have seen people upset because they got soggy french fries, but they didn’t act like snotty brats who got caught doing something truly stupid.

Yeah, it’s your money and you can waste it on a lying jackass if you want to, Wendy and Patty, but don’t get pissed off at people who pointed out that you were taken for an expensive ride by a con man. That just makes you look idiotic.

    • oxbgal says:

Don’t get your panties in a wad, but I didn’t raise money for this man because someone said he served his country. Apparently the person that originally posted was a civilian and confused all sorts of Medals ect … I raised money for an elderly homeless man that was living in his car with 2 dogs….period! I would do it for anyone in need..actually let me correct that, bipeds bring another level of crazy. I’ll stick to rescuing dogs from this point forward..

      • Ex-PH2 says:

Stick to rescuing dogs? Good idea!

At least dogs won’t piss on your leg and tell you it’s raining.

If this ‘homeless’ person was, indeed, homeless, did you ever think that maybe his own family got sick of his crap and disowned him? Or that he was playing that ‘pity me’ card, just to find people like you who are blind to fraud and then get pissed when the fraud is exposed?

Go get some counseling for your anger, kiddo. You’ve been hosed but good as have the others who ‘helped’ this ‘homeless’ clown and took advantage of your good intentions. He and others like him know a sucker when they see it, and he saw all of you coming a mile away.

Stick to rescuing dogs, and cats, too. You’ll be better off.

But do NOT come here with your shorts in a bunch and an attitude toward people who have outed a complete fraud.

        We are not at fault.

        HE IS.

  14. CLAW131 says:

OK, let me see if I have all the players in this butthurt community/sockpuppet parade right.

We have Patty, Wende Shannon, helpthehomeless, Diana (who must be the front desk clerk at the Travel Lodge), and a GoFundMe page.

For somebody who never asked anyone for help, it sure seems to me like he got a lot of “help” heaped upon him.

Are they ashamed that they have been taken in by a con man or have they somehow had their sugar daddy connection/hook-up exposed to the light of day?

More to follow as circumstances develop.

    • Ex-PH2 says:

All that, and they’re mad as hell at being told ‘you’ve been had but good’, Claw.

    • Ex-PH2 says:

I knew there was more to it than just being homeless, and here it is.

“ie pissed off ex wife”, per oxbgal, right here:

See, people do give away information quite pertinent to these kinds of things, without realizing that they just spilled the entire can of beans.

Pissed off ex-wife? Yeah, I’d be willing to lay odds that she didn’t just throw his ass out of the house, she had him removed and got a no-contact order on him.

      This should be VER-R-R-R-Y interesting.

      • Bobo says:

I saw that, too, but I wasn’t sure if oxbgal was the ex-wife or not, or if the ex-wife was pissed off because of Belangia or pissed off because she thought that someone had forged some paperwork in order to get an NPRC response.

        • obxgal says:

I’m not the ex wife!!!!!! Dear Lord ..this should be a movie….I helped an elderly old man that had lived in his car for 299 days last yr…his ex wife apparently has an axe to grind I don’t know her!!! But she is going out of her way to make certain he gets zero help. Hence, why I said”pissed off ex wife” perhaps she is behind alot of this misinformation.

          • Silentium Est Aureum says:

Question: was the ex going around claiming he was a vet and flashing a phony 214?

          • Ex-PH2 says:

Well, logically, since the ‘ex’ hasn’t chimed in here, we have NO way of knowing what HER side of the story is. But if SHE left him, there had to be a good reason for it. And NO, I do NOT believe someone who claims the ‘ex’ cleaned out the bank account until I see real proof.

  15. 3E9 says:

Thanks to all of the dipshits for making my day by coming to this turds defense. You are truly special people.

  16. Rebecca Wilson says:

As a matter of a fact… We are “Special People”. We see an elderly man with 2 dogs in trouble in our community and we rally. We rally to make sure he is taken care of. We rally to make sure he has food. We rally to make sure his animals are safe. We rally to make sure he has a long term solution to his housing problem.

WE as a community, said he was a veteran… Not him. We as a community, thrust him into the spotlight that he did not ask for. We as a community, gave from our hearts to someone in need.

I hope I never live anywhere but here!!!

    • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

I’ve helped people out before myself, I’ve also been conned by a few. There’s a difference between helping someone in need and being an “enabler”, one who helps someone continue going down the wrong path, and your critter here looks like what I refer to as a “Proffessional Victim”, one who goes around “Singing the ‘Poor Me Song'” to whoever wants to feel sorry and give him things. A real helper will assist one in picking themselves up, not let them stay dependent!

    • 3E9 says:

I hope you don’t either. Why did you “as a community” say he was a veteran? What did you base that assumption on? Did he deny that fact? Why did you “thrust him into the spotlight?” If your community automatically sees a homeless person do you assume they are a veteran?

    • OWB says:

So, Rebecca, it really is all about YOU, not about determining what this man actually might need? It’s about YOU doing something to make yourself feel better, not figuring out if your attention might be better spent somewhere else? It never had anything to do with what HE needed, but about what YOU wanted?

Yeah, that was just too easy. Hard is figuring out what people truly need, then doing something about that. Ya know, gathering facts before acting impulsively.

    • Pinto Nag says:

HOLD IT. Back up the bus. ‘(YOU), as a community, said he was a veteran’? So YOU are behind his stolen valor? That’s a whole different animal, sister, and you better think long and hard before you claim it.

      • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

PN. before you drive the bus forward again, can I give you some nitro for better acceleration?

  17. CLAW131 says:

And now we can add three more sockpuppets into the mix.

Rebecca Wilson, Jesse Ambrose and oxbgal.

That makes a grand total of six now. The NPRC says no record of service in any branch, but both helpthehomeless and Jesse Ambrose say they have seen his DD214 and IT IS legitimate.

Hmmm, who should we believe? NPRC or sockpuppets? So many choices. I think i’ll go with the NPRC.

It’s not like Belangia is a common name like Smith, Johnson or Jones. Then there might be a small chance of mistaken identity by the NPRC, but not on a name like Belangia.

But you folks there in Kill Devil Hills just keep on giving him money that he’s not asking for (but still accepting under false pretenses). I’ll just keep mine in my pocket.

    • 3/17 Air Cav says:

Scorecards, get your scorecards, get your scorecards, you can’t tell the players without a scorecard.

With all the players, I mean sock puppets, I feel like I’m at a ballgame!

      • CLAW131 says:

Yep, 3/17, we’re gonna need a scorecard here pretty quickly.

By my count with the addition of Billy boy, the sockpuppet count is now up to seven.

Only two more and they can field a co-ed softball team.

However with nine they may hold a majority of eligible voters in KDH.

Therefore, BUTCH FOR MAYOR!!! He already fits the mold, taking money and gifts under false pretenses, lying with a straight face, etc. Yep I see a bright future in politics for him.

  18. Ex-PH2 says:

Gee, it IS hard to admit that you’ve been taken for a ride, isn’t it? Especially when it’s a rather expensive ride – that must hurt.

No wonder you’re defensive. You’re supporting a sponge, a parasite, a con man, someone whose only goal in life is to find a pool of naive people and get whatever he can out of them until they realize they’ve been hosed big time.

Bernie Madoff did the same thing. It’s a good idea to NOT attack people who expose a fraud, especially when you’re his victims.

I realize that whatever dignity you had has been sullied, but you were taken for an expensive ride by a con man.

Try to deal with that bit of information like grown-ups instead of reacting like spoiled children.

  19. Enigma4you says:

The best con artist do not have to steal, they get what they want given to them.

to those of you that say you have seen his dd-214. What are the odds that a homeless man had the one thing that will buy him some credibility? I could not put my hands on my original DD-214 if my life depended on it. I do have a certified true copy.

I will tell a story here.

Everyday I pass by a man holding a sign that says “Homeless Vet Please Help” He has a prosthetic leg.
I offered him work a few weeks ago, nothing hard or strenuous but a decent wage for honest work. He refused. His excuse was he and his girl friend make more money begging than he ever could working.

Yes the records center had a fire, yes some records were destroyed, it was contained to one area of one floor, No records were completely destroyed. That is to mean the record of someone serving was preserved. The cataloging system remained intact and was not damaged.

If you want to help a man then by all means help him. I cannot speak for anyone but myself, but my opinion of the man needing help is that he is a con man, he knows how to play to good peoples emotions and he has said he was a veteran to further tug at the heart strings.

The only answer to a lie is the truth, it may wound your pride and hurt your feeling but the truth is absolute. This man never served, he lied and deceived. Learn a lesson and move forward with a new knowledge.

    • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Sounds like a few characters I came across on Interstate off-ramps during my Trucker days that would cuss me out for giving them food and demanding cash instead!

  20. Billy boy says:

Such drivel over a situation that is none of your business

    • Silentium Est Aureum says:

Quite the contrary. As a legit veteran, it is up to me to defend the honor and integrity of my brothers and sisters in arms.

      Care to discuss further?

    • MGySgtRet. says:

Well then Billy, I reckon we have made it our business. Oh, and get bent. Valor thieves piss us off. Don’t like it, don’t come here.

    • nbcguy54 says:

I see why you call yourself “boy”. You just don’t get it yet…

      • Joe Williams says:

Hey Billy boy, the Spreme Crourt has said that we the Vets can counter falsehoods with the TRUTH.Also we can even bring shame on the fakes. Google it up and learn. Joe

    • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Tell ya’ what, Billy-boy, if you’re that butt-hurt over being conned, call 9-11111 and have a *WAAAAHHHH*mbulance dispatched to your location to have its crew give you a peanut butter sandwich, some fresh Kool-Aid, and a group hug while everyone sings a few verses of “Kum-ba-ya”, I really don’t give a flying fuck about your feelings! Did you and your fellow do-gooders think you were helping him out of the goodness of your hearts, or were you pawning up to his con game while saying “Everybody look at me!!”?

    • 3E9 says:

Ahhh, but it is our business Billy. As soon as someone decides to pass themselves off as something they are not with regards to military service it becomes the business of those who have served to give them the spotlight they obviously want. If we hurt your feelings tough, click a different button on your computer other than the one that brought you here.

  21. Jonn Lilyea says:

Actually, Butch’s defenders are pretty funny in their bi-polar defense of Butch. Their comments go from “he never claimed to be a veteran” to “I’ve seen his DD214”.

    Pick an excuse, people.

    • radar says:

It was a special DD214, issued only to hobo civilians. Very rare, which is why you’re not familiar with it. I think you have to be a Silver Cross awardee to rate it.

  22. Combat Historian says:

Damn…a full-blown sockpuppety pity party for a total poser; this is hilarious and pathetic at the same time…

    • FasterThanFastjack says:

Fastest hands in the East right here, fuck, his hands might be faster than mine if he’s got all these sockpuppets up!

  23. Green Thumb says:

  24. rb325th says:

Usually I feel badly for those taken in by Posers. Kind hearted people who try to do the right thing, and are taken advantage of… until they come in here spewing their nonsense defending this assclown (and others, Gimbl comes to mind).

  25. SJ says:

I suppose that it is possible that a homeless guy with 2 dogs and all his shit living in a car also happens to have his 214….even though he made deal with God whilst in Nam that he’d never mooch off the govt (so why does he need a 214)? Sure, I can see that happening.

    • CLAW131 says:

SJ, I think he’s only been homeless and living in his car when he runs out out of money and needs pity money to pay for another stint at the Travel Lodge.

His sockpuppets say he’s been living at the Travel Lodge (mostly free of charge) for at least the past two years.

I’m betting he’s that “homeless vet” everybody sees at the K-Mart/Wal-Mart with the cardboard sign that says “Please Help-God Bless You” and “Help me feed my dogs”

  26. CLAW131 says:

It’s now after 5 PM on the east coast.

Does that mean it’s time for the sockpuppets to come home from work, log on to the computer and give TAH commenters another good tongue lashing for exposing their “Hero”?

    We shall see.

    • CLAW131 says:

Speaking of the sockpuppets, I have a specific question for one of them.

oxbgal, What is your age estimate on this “elderly old man” that you claimed to be helping cause he “lived in his car for 299 days last year”?

You seem to have some pretty specific information on him and his circumstances. So how old is he?

      • nbcguy54 says:

In an earlier post she says he’s been homeless for two years but tax records show he was a homeowner until last year. If other internet S2 is to believed, he was born in 38, making him an old (by military standards) Marine and probably not a VN draftee.

        • simply amazed says:

From what I gather he lost his house to foreclosure in 2013!! His ex wife left in 2012 cleaned out the bank accounts and moved to Florida while he was recovering from heart surgery.

        • 3/17 Air Cav says:

nbcguy54……….he worked DIRECTLY under forgin Frank in the supply hut. When Frank was called out to fly the door gunner mission. That’s when good ole Butch won the MOH! I’ll bet Forgin Frank was pissed when he only got the Bronze Star!

          • CLAW131 says:

            Forging Frank should be pissed.

The closest he ever got to being awarded a real Bronze Star Medal was the 3/16 inch bronze service star(s) for the Viet Nam Service Medal.

The daily grind at the supply hut was just too much for him, especially on C-Rat re-supply day when he pogeed all the good ones for himself.

            • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

“Pogeed”? Yeah OK, these days we say “rat-fucked”. 😀

              • CLAW131 says:

API, Roger. Got it. “Rat-Fucked” is the proper term.

But my only hope is old Forgin Frank rat-fucked all the Ham & Mothers and Beef & Shrapnels for himself.

                • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Duly noted, his breed nowadays is the type we would want to rat-fuck and eat all of the “Vegetarian” MRE’s, and after he eats them, an open flame within 100 meters would turn him into a human IED!!

            • 3/17 Air Cav says:

Claw… Are you trying to one up me by spelling forgin correct? As for forgin Frank I never really looked at his shadow box. He prob. Had six stars on his Vietnam service medal. When in doubt, do your best and fake the rest.

On another note ever wonder why Sparks was and is so popular? He’s the only Vietnam vet who actually pogeed ham and mf’ers on a regular basis! The rest the troops loved him!

              • CLAW131 says:

Forgin Frank only has two stars on his VSM.

Mine has three stars. I get to do the happy dance.

Yep, Sparks is our kind of man for doing that.

      • simply amazed says:

77… all you gotta do is google his name!!!!

      • Ex-PH2 says:

I checked the rates at the Travelodge in Kill Devil Hill. It’s semi-pricey, $59.95 to $109.95, plus tax, plus those other charges like bar, fridge and room service.

I’d say ol’ ‘Butch’ probably figured he just needed to hit the right notes and push the right buttons, and he could spend his days toasting himself at poolside.

Nice place, although I didn’t look at the menu.

      • obxgal says:

He is 78 and joined the Marines @16 . He is an elderly man.Yes i have specific knowledge, which some on here clearly do not.

        • obxgal says:

Ooops sorry that went under wrong post….

        • Marine_7002 says:

Then how do you explain the fact that the National Personnel Records Center doesn’t have any record of his service?

And how do you explain the fact that he doesn’t appear on the list of Medal of Honor recipients?

And how do you explain the fact that his KIDS are telling people that he hasn’t served?

        • Bobo says:

Anytime I hear about someone who enlisted under the age of 17 after WW II, the alarm bells go off. The dates would mean that he enlisted around 1952, and would make him about 29 in 1965 with 13 years of service and about 32 in 1968 with about 16 years of service. I find it hard to believe that he wouldn’t have stuck out one more enlistment to make his 20 and get a retirement check.

  27. Mike70 says:

This shit pisses me off. I will gt on my bike (with leather vest, hehe) and ride out there after my VA appointment tomorrow. It should only take me about 4 hours and some change. I will bring my video camera and a portable scanner. We can settle this shit within 48 hours. Who will meet me in ‘Devil’s Hill and where……

    • Mike70 says:

Damn, it should be “get”. So I fail in spell and gramer check. I have lurked here for a bit, but this shit is really starting to piss me off. All the “special Vets” hanging around 301/All American interchange and the shit I read here is really starting to get to me. I am retired, nothing to do…..let me know where they are around the Carolinas/Virginia area. I have lots of brothers and family here. We can cover a large area.

      • CLAW131 says:

OK. Here’s one that we haven’t heard anything about in a while, but we suspect he is still running his scams/Krispy Kreme piehole.

William Derek Church (The Round Ranger) of Lenoir,NC.

Put his name into the search engine here on the site and sit back for some real poser action. All total he has generated more than 2000 comments from the TAH crowd.

        • CLAW131 says:

The Round Ranger shouldn’t be too hard to track down.

Just find the nearest Dunkin Donuts/Piggly Wiggly in Lenoir that sells Krispy Kremes and find a parking spot.

He makes at least a dozen trips to there each day to keep himself and his dependapotomus wife supplied with the freshest bakery products.

          Happy Hunting.

        • SJ says:

Tell me more. Casa Church is really in Gamewell, a burg near Lenoir. Krispy Kreme is in Lenoir. My AF MSgt Father in Law lives in the same grid square as casa Church. When I drive by, I see nothing so I hoped he had converted.

      • nbcguy54 says:

Be sure to ask for your discount at the Travel Lodge if you plan on staying the night.

        • CLAW131 says:

Yea, he shouldn’t be too hard to find. Hell, I betcha he’s hanging out in the Travel Lodge restaurant all day/night sucking down free coffee and doughnuts while waving that DD214 in the air.

        • 3/17Air Cav says:

      • 3/17Air Cav says:

Mike……..hang around for awhile, it gets worse. You will find yourself getting really pissed off, and have to take a break from TAH for a day just to cool off!

      • Ex-PH2 says:

Mike70, if you’re retired and looking for something to do, please get yourself some Dragon software and starting telling those stories you’ve got, so your grandkids have something to pass down.

I knew a guy who retired and decided to start slapping paint on canvases, just to please himself. He discovered a hidden, untutored talent.

I’m sure you have something you’ve never used, like maybe woodworking or repairing antiques, or something? Whatever, don’t sit on your butt and wonder what to do with yourself. Find it and do it.

That’s for the rest of you lazy fucks, too. Don’t sit around watching the grass grow. You’ll be under it soon enough.

  28. OWB says:

At this point, not sure I even care any more if the subject of this post did or did not claim being a vet. How could that be?

The sock puppets might just have unwittingly exposed a hitherto disguised aspect of stolen valor that some of us have wondered about but never quite been able to pinpoint. Look what we have here: a bunch of folks who really should have no care whether he is or is not a vet advancing the homeless, helpless, oh-we-gotta-help-him-out, poor vet, meme. Sound like anyone else we know?

Yep, he’s homeless, so he MUST be a vet. Gotta be! It’s what the wonderful, compassionate lefties DO.

  29. Carlton G. Long says:

I love this website. Not only because of the great laughs amid exposing a serious problem in our country, but also because, compared to these SV chuckleheads, my actual service as a petroleum supply specialist (77F at the time but the MOS number has changed) looks hardcore.

  30. ChipNASA says:

Is it just me opr does anyone else think when they read Butch’s name….. “Beluga” as in whale ??
    /probably just me.

  31. CLAW131 says:

Near as I can tell, between both Facebook and the TAH site, old Butch now has at least a dozen sockpuppets standing up for him.

When will they come to their senses and realize they’ve been taken to the cleaners?

    Probably never.
