Paul Tillson pleads guilty to defrauding VA

| September 10, 2015

[Editor’s Note: This Paul Tillson lives in New Jersey – he’s not the Paul Tillson in Oregon who we like immensely and served honorably without embellishing his military record]

Oldtimers here will remember when we busted this Paul Tillson fellow nearly four years ago. Our friends at Guardian of Valor tell us that stealing valor wasn’t the extent of his crimes. The Shore News Network reports that the Veterans’ Affairs Department’s Office of Inspector General, Criminal Investigation Division indicted him for stealing $150,164 in disability benefits for injuries he claimed were related to his combat service;

Through an investigation by the Department of Veterans Affairs, it was determined that Tillson did not serve in a combat function or engage in combat during his tour of duty overseas, which commenced after cease-fire terms had been accepted by Iraq. Tillson also acknowledged that he falsified information related to his alleged combat stressors.

The charge of embezzlement of funds from the United States carries a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 or twice the gross gain or loss from the offense. Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 16, 2015.

You can see from the picture above, Paul Tillson thought very highly of his service – quite a bit different from what the NJ Guard thought of him;

Here’s what I wrote about his records back then;

Well, he’s a Staff Sergeant, not a Sergeant First Class. He has nine months total of active duty, and three months were Basic Training and Advance Individual Training. He was infantry in the New Jersey National Guard until May ’91 when he became a supply sergeant, but oddly enough his 2-1 says he was a squad leader supply sergeant.

Then in August he was activated and sent to Camp Doha, Kuwait with a Heavy Maintenance and Supply unit as the company clerk. That’s how he got the CIB that he thinks he earned – cuz being the company clerk in a mess kit repair company after Desert Storm ended is just like being infantry in Desert Storm.

Someone who knew him at the time told us that he faked an injury and was returned early from Kuwait. He came back in January ’92. That same person told us he started faking the Gulf War Syndrome after his return, I wish they’d change the name of GWS to National Guard Syndrome, because those are the only guys who seem to get it. If there are any DVA OIG guys out there, you might want to look into that.

Then he went back to his infantry duties in the NJNG until he left the service in 1993. So he spent ten years total in the Guard, and nine months of Federal service. So he really had to scurry to get all of those medals

According to North Jersey, he’s been doing this for awhile;

His financial malfeasance spanned a 13-year period, U.S. District Judge Claire C. Cecchi heard in Newark.

According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court:

From November 2000 to July 2013, Tillson received $150,164 in disability benefits, based on his claims of combat-related injuries. Through a VA investigation, it was determined that Tillson did not serve in a combat function or engage in combat during his tour of duty overseas, which commenced after Iraq accepted cease-fire terms. Tillson also acknowledged that he falsified information related to his alleged combat stressors.

That averages out to about $950/month for 13 years.

I only hope that our work on him so long ago had a hand in locking this dude up.

On a final note; there’s another Paul Tillson in Oregon who is a veteran, too. He’s struggling with his own business, mostly because of this Paul Tillson who is in New Jersey. Please don’t mix the two up.

      In MD, where corruption seems to be an accepted way of doing business (see Prince Georges County government)? Keep dreaming.

        Usedtabe PG County was a nice place to live, and a place where an asshole politician could – and did – get shot.

  4. Ex-PH2 says:

    If it’s possible, the Paul Tillson in Oregon should include his middle initial, if he has one, in his business name.

    • Nicki says:

      Unfortunately, his business is really struggling thanks to this Jersey fuck. I got an email from him a short time ago, and he said he wasn’t sure what he was going to do. I suggested that maybe he hire one of those reputation firms, but I don’t know how successful or expensive they are. I feel bad for Paul in Oregon. This cockmuncher seriously fucked his life!

      • Jonn Lilyea says:

        But, Stolen Valor is a victimless crime, the Supreme Court tells us.

      • I am not one to give up, I renewed my Business and included my Middle name, but do not think it will help, today I contacted a Lawyer whom I do work for and knows me, hopefully he can help, I wish I could find out what his sentence was on Dec 16th

    The REAL Paul Tillson from Oregon is an all-around computer fixer-upper and a good guy who does not even vaguely resemble the veryvery bad New Jersey Paul Tillson.

    • Instinct says:

      The good Paul should be allowed 15 minutes alone with the bad Paul

      • ty for you’er comments, yes need my Middle Initial, 15 mins would be nice, although the distant is too far, at least I get to see Karma take affect. TY TAH for keeping me informed, keep up the good work! too little too late, time to retire.

          Too bad this other klowne doesn’t have the balls to stand up without shredding your name along with his own.

        • HMCS (FMF) ret. says:

          Thanks, Paul… hopefully things get straightened out when the Joisee dude gets to spend time in jail.

        • LIRight says:

          Are you anywhere near Salem?

        • Nicki says:

          Hi, Paul. As I said in my reply via email, I’m so sorry this has happened to you! This repulsive dickbag in Jersey really needs to be sued for damages or something.

        • Tom Huxton says:

          My solution to a similar problem was to change my name. By the age of 7, members of the detroit mafia began stashing property in my name. I had a very good business, growing and thriving. Besides the mafia connection, my own half-brother used my name for his own reasons. Investigators had body-doubles for myself and my family. Some 200 telephones around the country pinpoint houses around the country (all forwarded to a trailer near here.) No one with legitimate business could even reach me. I called several of these numbers and spoke to “myself”. I broke one group in Alabama by reporting to the local FBI office and referring them to ongoing investigations in Detroit. They did well, but very little info got back to me.

          Besides wrecking my reputation, they used my name on construction projects, implying my participation (Licensed Residential Builder), and even placed my name on marriage records and birth certificates.

          The obvious intent was to probate my estate and transfer property back to themselves. Of course, my death was necessary to their plan. Their first provable attempt was July 1969 in Vietnam. Their failure in full view of the Enemy made me famous— among the Enemy.
          Another attempt by “Anthony Giacalone” and a dozen thugs resulted in his first jail term.
          “Tocco” and “Zerilli” were arrested by The FBI, stalking me in Ann Arbor, Mi,
          Our county sherrif was arrested stalking me through the woods, then improperly removing my funds from the courts, and removing 1.3 mil from the bank. He bought 30 1994 police intercepters and could not get the state to issue license plates (My name on the titles)
          They almost “got lucky” using poison in 1978
          I’ve been beaten, burgled, impersonated, stalked, poisoned, slandered and robbed.
          My “Good Name” has been used by hundreds of criminals around the country. Entire families assumed my name. The length of the investigation gave them confidence that their scheme was solid. Actually, my name became a tool to locate drug dealers.

          Sincere thanks to the investigators for their efforts and protection.

          Changing my name was a good move. I chose the name because it is rare enough to be easily searched.

      No kidding, as a “clerk” in a supply company you would think he’d be able to track the different sword types.

  10. HMCS (FMF) ret. says:

    As for the Joyzee Paul Tillson… hope =you have an appetite for manmayo and cockmeat sammiches (Joyzee style) in the federal “pound you in the ass” lockup.

    PS – hope the missus is filing to divorce your dumb ass and take HALF of whatever shit you have left!

  11. A Proud Infidel®™ says:

    I hope the NJ Tillson *SQUEEEEAAAL*s for Bubba & Thor, he needs to suffer for what he’s done to the real Paul Tillson as well as his con games.

  12. JimV says:

    This guy gets $150K for nothing and the last time I saw my VA PCP she recommended massive doses of Ibuprofen to help with the pain in my knees due to a service connected disability! This is why I rarely get treated at the VA. Thank God I have Tricare Prime to fall back on.

  13. jonp says:

    I recognized his wife’s err…I mean his rack right away.

  14. Norman says:

    I have 1-1/2 years active duty and 24-1/2 years reserve duty, but only 1/3 the medals he has; and no combat service. At 10 years from my enlistment date, I had just one more medal than his records list; but three are state medals (CA-ARNG), his list has no state medals.

  15. Becky says:

    If you want to see justice served, Paul Tillson, from New Jersey, will be sentenced in court on 2/25/2016 at 10:30am before U.S. District Judge Claire C. Cecchi in Newark NJ federal court to an indictment charging him with embezzlement of funds from the United States.
    The government is represented by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas S. Kearney of the U.S. Attorney’s Office General Crimes Unit in Newark.
