Joe Lucania; Devil Dog Arms phony Marine

| April 11, 2016

Joe Lucania

This was going around social media yesterday. This Joe Lucania has been pretending to be a Marine sniper and he founded this Devil Dog Arms using this persona. You can hear him tell you that he was a Marine at about 1:00 in this video and claiming to be a Marine Corps sniper around 2:00 (I guess they yanked the video after I linked to it – just trust me);

Like I said, this message started circulating yesterday;

Joe Lucania Devil Dog Arms

I don’t know what was the impetus for this admission that he had never served in the Marines, but there you go. It looks like he went as far as getting a USMC tattoo, if the comments can be believed at the Facebook link. His LinkedIn profile says that Devil Dog Arms is a veteran-owned business. The IRS and the VA might want to take a look at that.

I guess he was good enough as a phony to fool other Marines;

Joe Lucania Ammoland

So much for a victimless crime, huh?

Lucania Victimless Crime

As a vet and now a former employee of DDA, I’m extremely disappointed, hurt and insulted by the recent discovery of the big lie and its cascading damage to so many good people. Not only was it disgraceful and insulting to all of us who served in the US military, it hurt the hardworking, honest and dedicated people, I’ve had the pleasure of working with at DDA this past year. All of us employees of DDA lost our jobs and the ability to support our families this week (many of us also lost out on wages, earnings and unreimbursed expenses that where owed to us while the company was still up and running) as a direct result of the big lie which ultimately caused DDA to close its doors. My thoughts and well wishes go out to my fellow former employees and their families as we put DDA in our rear view mirrors and move forward in search of better opportunities. I also want to shout out to all of the loyal customers, vendors, supporters and partners who put their trust, energy and resources into DDA. It’s been a great pleasure to get to know and work with you. I personally want to thank you for all you’ve done.

ADDED 4/12/2016; Just for the record, here’s the result of his FOIA request;

OK, who opened the gates to the Stolen Valor asylum and let all of these assclowns out?

There’s an overwhelming deluge of phonies accumulating today in the TAH grid square.

  2. Atkron says:

They must have pulled the video…the world pipe linky thingy doesn’t work.

  3. MrFace says:

He looks like he wants to be cuddled in Devil Dog Arms.

  4. sfp2 says:

I’m with you Bruno. Would have commented sooner but had to put on long sleeves to cover my trident, wouldn”t want Senior Chief to see it, you know how he gets. Damm imposters

  5. A Proud Infidel®™ says:

WTF, did someone release an MLRS barrage of posers?

  6. HMCS(FMF) ret. says:

Reading the first few FB comments, it sounds like he closed the business down and laid off the employees – look that the comments made by Dave Janus.

Check out this FB page… looks like it’s run by a Bernath/QUeEfErS love child:

    • Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

Nice so the employees also get to be victimized by this man’s lies…victimless crimes my ass…

      • Jarhead says:

Yep, the employees will also suffer for a while, but hopefully not long. Apparently he had some top grade gunsmiths who will ALWAYS either be able to go into private business (such as operating out of their home) or fairly easy find work in the field elsewhere. We have a friend who only began gunsmith work after he retired at 62, and now runs a good business from home office. Repeatedly he has told me he is always flooded with business from folks who bought weapons at gun shows.
BTW, the loser’s admission shows what a dumbass he is. It’s Marine you wannabee!
F__k you and the horse you rode in on.
Just finished speaking with a Marine at the Marine Corps Recruiting Station and making him aware of not only T A H, but especially this story. Phone (847) 991-2025 if you need to blow off some steam as I did. Waiting on a return call from the Chicago Tribune. If you also have that time and interest, news room # is (312) 222-3650. Left my phone number with them about an hour ago, but have not yet heard from them.
This maggot thinks by pulling down his video he will somehow escape public scrutiny and exposure. NOT in this lifetime! Gonna make you the talk of Chicago. You asked for it and you earned it. You gonna be the Elvis of gunsmith work. Rather, you gonna get every bit as much exposure as he did.

    • Eden says:

Are they freakin’ SERIOUS? “Harm in a costume”???? A COSTUME??????

      • Hack Stone says:

You need to update you SRS (Sarcasm Recognition Software). I believe that they are being facetious when they advocate for decriminalizing stolen valor.

  7. Ex-PH2 says:

Looks like someone got there ahead of the rest and took him to task for lying. Or maybe his books were about to be audited, too.

Add a false claim of service to a tax audit and what do you get?

  8. CB Senior says:

Looks like he ate Devil Dogs to get that Awesome Marine body and Arms.

  9. CA_SGT says:

Wow, he actually admitted to it and apologized publically on facebook.

Thats got to be the quickest turn around from this site Ive seen yet.

  10. Silentium Est Aureum says:

I’m guess the SV aspect of this wasn’t what made him have a change of heart, but falsely claiming preferential status he didn’t earn.

Now if someone would just do the same with Phil Monkress over at the lying disabled/native owned All Points Logistics.

  11. Stevedeth51 says:

I meet this guy when I lived in IL. He claimed we was in the same unit that I commanded as the S2, 3/1. I was only there a short time and did not remember him, it is clear why now!

I will say they do assemble nice rifles.

  12. FatCircles0311 says:

    What a scumfuck.

  13. B Woodman says:

Makes me wonder if there’s something hiding in the treeline, just waiting to jump out, similar to what happened to Will Hayden and Red Jacket Firearms?

  14. MCPO NYC USN Ret. aka Son of Ó hEochaidh says:

In his apology he did not capitalize Marine. He wrote “marine”.

A telltale mark of a poser POS is a total lack of very basic mil jargon.

Soilder, Sailor, Marine, Airman and Coastguardsman … always capitalized.

But he would not know that as he is not, never was, nor will he ever be a Marine!

    • FatCircles0311 says:

lol whatever. The only thing I always capitalize regarding mil titles is POG, cause they earned it!

      – sincerely former own fucking program marine

      • R.A. Marine says:

roger that! He is a scumbag of the highest caliber….hope he goes bankrupt….

        U.S. Marine 74-79
100% Service Disabled Ass-whole Jar Head

        Fuck you Joe

  15. Matt Barges says:

Bullshit this scumbag tried to sue me so I got the corps on his ass. Sorry but the unit he said he served my brother was in, hahah. I am a marine I took the name DevilDawg firearms. I’ll build you what you want. He sold ya a service he only read about!!!

    • Instinct says:

Matt, no offense, but you need a better website design.

      • Matt Barges says:

I’m trying when assholes like him and others try to sue you the little shit gets over looked. My FaceBook is a little better I’m in the process of getting investors for a range. But if you need a firearm I will take care of you for what you want. I Served on record from 92-96. Plus he fucked up when he tried to tell me what unit he was a sniper for. My brother was a grunt in 2/5 in 89-94 and I still talk to the sniper in his unit, when I confronted him he shut up and dropped his suit. Even through the corp told me the own the rights to DevilDawg. Fuck him.

        • Instinct says:

My suggestion: Look at setting up a WordPress site and if you are wanting to do transactions through it you can add on WooCommerce.

Easiest way to get going and have something that is easy to modify and maintain.

        • Hack Stone says:

Not to tell you how to run your business, but I do not have the utmost confidence in your military service. You write “marine” vice “Marine”, and you spell (Marine) Corps as “corp”. If you get confused, you can always use your DD-214 as a reference source.

          • Jarhead says:

Hack….You bring up some extremely interesting points which makes one wonder. Was one poser working for another and now trying to restart under his own brand? Absolutely NOBODY who served in the Marine Corps makes those two grammatical errors in the same story. You are much more the gentleman than I. Unless we see something to the contrary here, my guess is limited to two conclusions. Either ONE: He did serve as he claims, but is too undereducated or TWO: He’s just another bullshit artist.

            • Hack Stone says:

To be fair, my brother in law, a MSgt with 28 years service, spelled Marine Corps wrong on his resume. I guess it was asking too much for him to look at his ID card.

            • Matt Barbes says:

I have my dd214 you are correct to assume someone was helping him and when all this started I wish I took Screen shot of both owners at the time one was supposed to be a Leo with 20 plus yrs, but from the grapevine he quit a yr or two ago. I also no the CNc company and out standing bills are owed. I knew when I talk to him before lawyers and the CORPS legal team got involved. Believe when you get a call from dc you don’t bullshit them. He got what he deserved whether he was a nice guy or not. Devil Dog is a name we all earned who served.

              • R.A. Marine says:

We earned the title “U.S. Marine” and “Devil Dog.” This scumbag did nothing to earn it. He should go to jail.

          • Carluchi says:

Hack, saw your comments about radio repairman in another thread. 2800 or 5900?

  16. Combat Historian says:

Merchants and manufacturers need to learn that nobody gives a flying fuck if you were in the Marines or not, as long as you sell and deliver a genuinely good and reliable working product that people desire and want. Once you go with the poser bullshit and get caught, nobody will want anything from you, not even the time of day…

    • HMCS(FMF) ret. says:

      Good Points, CH!

      • R.A. Marine says:

Senior Chief….. you are the closet thing to being a Marine… you served along side us Marines and did all we Marines did! This scumbag is a real turd.

        Semper Fi Doc!

  17. Jarhead says:

Kinda surprises me, but should not, that the Chicago Tribune news room did not return my call yesterday out of curiosity if nothing else. Just now called them again and left a detailed message directing them to T A H and pointing out the importance of this story as Lake Zurich is right in their back yard. Left no details regarding story or origin yesterday; can’t blame that as the reason they didn’t call.
How about a couple of others trying to contact them?
    Phone number is shown above.

  18. Matt Barges says:

    Fuckin auto correct

  19. Matt Barges says:

have my dd214 you are correct to assume someone was helping him and when all this started I wish I took Screen shot of both owners at the time one was supposed to be a Leo with 20 plus yrs, but from the grapevine he quit a yr or two ago. 20. Matt Barges says:
These will pop up now until he’s done stolen valor can’t be forgiven when they knew what the where doing. Also hate to say it it to a lot more women for a false sense of righteousness. One word scumbag. I wasted a lot of time money and resources to this pos because he said he was a Marine!!!

  21. Jarhead says:

Is anybody else confused as to where this story is now? “Getting investors” leaves me wondering WTF?

  22. Cynthia Klass says:

Buy SWAT fire arms. Billet AR company out of Campbell Tx.

Quality Firearms at Reasonable prices. Lifetime warranty.

    • Jarhead says:

Always interested in such, thank you Cynthia. One small detail, is this a VETTED vet run operation? Do they have a web site?

    • R.A. Marine says:

He is a turd and Do Not Buy from this turd. He is a liar!

  23. Green Thumb says:

  24. R.A. Marine says:

This scumbag still has this on his linkedIn page:

“Aviation Club, Rifle Team, Golf Team, Football Team, Drill Team. Activities and Societies: United States Marine Corps Basic Training / Reserve Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Officer Candidate School (OCS)”

You are a piece of shit boy!
