Judd Legum is obviously not a veteran

| December 12, 2017 | 71 Comments

I haven’t weighed in on the discussion of Roy Moore one way or the other, well, until this obvious piece of shit from Judd Legum in Think Progress. It’s a story told by one of Moore’s wartime buddies, Bill Staehle, the other night. Staehle and Moore went to a “private club” with another soldier who was leaving Vietnam the next day and had invited them along.

Staehle said that, when he and Moore arrived, they soon realized the man had taken them to a brothel. The third man, Staehle suggested, essentially tricked them. “I could tell you what I saw but I don’t want to,” Staehle said mischievously.

“There were certainly pretty girls. And they were girls. They were young. Some were very young,” Staehle acknowledged. But according to Staehle, Moore was shocked by what he saw. “We shouldn’t be here, I’m leaving,” Moore said, according to Staehle.

They asked the third man to leave with them but he didn’t want to. So Staehle and Moore took his Jeep and left him there all night with sex workers, who they agreed were underage. The man returned to base the next morning on the back of a motorcycle, Staehle said with a grin.

Staehle viewed this story as a triumphant example of Moore’s sterling moral character. Although Staehle hasn’t seen Moore in 45 years, he said, “He’s the same guy… He’s honorable. He’s disciplined. Morally straight. Highly principled.”

Yeah, well, since this is Think Progress, you know that Legum didn’t see the story the same way that Staehle editorialized.

In other words, he’s the kind of guy who might end up at a brothel with underage sex trafficking victims, but only by accident.

Yeah, well, I guess Legum has never been overseas and blindly followed friends into the darkness to finally arrive at a distasteful destination. It happened to me more than once. If Moore hadn’t un-assed the AyOh, Legum might have a point, but he did, so STFU, weasel-dick. Go find a real story.

    Fuck that clown.

And yeah, sadly, there are far too many places overseas where it’s if not considered normal, folks turn a blind eye to the sex trade, particularly when underage females are involved.

  2. Ex-PH2 says:

Why does his head look like a lopsided imitation of Keanu Reeves?

Is that the reason he doesn’t have anything important to say? And what does he know about sex trafficking? Any personal experience in it? Inquiring minds want to know.

  3. Old Trooper says:

I’m surprised this cupcake isn’t sporting a man bun, too.

  4. Atkron says:

Yeah, obviously never had a port visit and wound up in ‘The Gut’. of whatever town you were in…

  5. Martinjmpr says:

Isn’t it funny how back in the 60’s, liberals and progressives were all about “free love” and “if it feels good, do it.”

And now they’re all pearl-clutching prudes, who are shocked, SHOCKED I SAY!, that soldiers in the middle of a war sometimes visit prostitutes.

  6. ChipNASA says:

    Fuck You Pussy Boy.
You’re probably bitter because you got passed over on Man-Love Thursday.

  8. 2banana says:

Bill Clinton was specifically invited to go to orgy island with his democrat buddy senator Menendez to have sex with underage girls.

NOT even a peep from the fake legacy mefia.

Overseas, hell. I’ve done that in Washington, Colorado, Texas, and Kansas.

I forgot Minnesota, Wisconsin ( but I was following my wife, so that doesn’t count), Florida, California, and Louisiana. Maybe a couple of others too.

Funny you say that, I was reading Jonn’s post and remembering a memorable night we went to New Orleans during Mardi Gras while TDY. We had to drag one young man away from an enchantress he saw go into a bar. Said she was “the hottest chick” he’d ever seen, so hot we wouldn’t believe it. We saw the giant neon sign he missed, the one promising chicks with dicks.

      Good times.

  10. Sapper3307 says:

Did CNN research and wright that story?

As a transplant to Alabama, I hope that Judge Moore pulls off a win in today’s election. We can’t afford another libtard errr liberal in the senate.

Of course if he does win snowflakes like this Judd Legum turd will be crying all the way to their safe spaces.

  12. Reddawg_03 says:

I mean just stop it already. Enough is enough with your “My morality is so much better then your morality” bullshit.

These liberals douches hiding in the bushes waiting for the next “AHA GOTCHA” moment to come up that turns up to be nothing.

This will all stop when the accused starts suing the shit out of these fraudulent assholes

    • FuzeVT says:

“This will all stop when the accused starts suing the shit out of these fraudulent assholes”

That it may, but I think what would really stop it is when an accusation isn’t all it takes to bring down Republican politicians. That is, of course, the point. The fact that libs are getting caught up in the current furor is just an unfortunate (from lib point of view) price of getting that ol’ Hitler, Trump.

I have been to almost every Whore House and Strip Joint on this planet at one time or another.

I never seen any Roy Moore thereabouts.

However, insofar as the rest of you go…I may or may not have pictures. Any of you HOMO’s try to run for public office and try to deny you are a Bluenose or Shellback and you will be held accountable.

We all have those moments when we should use the phrase…”except there was that one time”.

  17. Perry Gaskill says:

As a matter of perspective, Think Progress is a weblog started and controlled by The Center for American Progress. CAP itself was started by John Podesta, former chief-of-staff for Bill Clinton. He’s also the dummy who fell for the email phishing scheme that revealed Hillary Clinton and Debbie Wasserman Schultz had rigged the Democratic primaries against Bernie Sanders.

After that embarrassing fiasco, it sort of indicates a level of desperation when somebody like Think Progress’ editor-in-chief Judd Legum finds it necessary to do a weakly-sourced political hit piece on a Senate race in Alabama. It’s also becoming apparent that progressives have started to adopt a certain sanctimonious religious piety now that it helps provide an edge.

There seems to be a strange meme lately that all those soiled doves in Viet Nam amounted to virtual sex slaves. Things didn’t really work that way. It so happens I spent considerable time with the Vietnamese at multiple levels, and there was a difference in cultural context. The ARVN and civilian police, for example, seemed to take the pragmatic view that war and hookers go together like biscuits and gravy. There were going to be cathouses regardless. Therefore, the best thing was to keep track of them, what was going on, as well as making sure the bac si showed up once a week with the VD shots.

All of the Vietnamese I ever ran across likely would have drawn the line at allowing sex-for-hire with minors. Which means Staehle’s account might fail a sniff check.

What also seemed true was that GIs were probably exposed most often to bar girls who weren’t selling sex so much as entertainment and companionship. A curiously Asian concept not common in the West. If a bar girl liked a GI, she might take him home, but there was usually the right of no-harm no-foul refusal on both sides. Sometimes things also worked into a longer-term relationship if a GI was going to be in the same place for awhile.

    • David says:

still the case in China at karaoke places… those girls are generally NOT hookers but are there to make the evening enjoyable, play drinking games, and get you to buy and drink copious amounts of booze. Take one home? Only at the low-rent places.

      • Perry Gaskill says:

A strange thing I saw the VN bar girls sometimes do was to act out a me-so-hawney, me-love-you-long-time parody of themselves. It could be sly and funny.

Something else that would spike my personal bizarre-o-meter is that most of them could more-or-less speak but not read English. There were a few times when they would get letters from GI boyfriends, who had been assigned someplace else, and they would want me to translate the letters for them. How the letters were routed was a mystery. Such translations would also take place attended by a group of working ladies who would then discuss the contents at some length. Meanwhile, I would be like the woodwork with them ignoring the fact I was both a GI and a male.

        I felt so cheap…

    • farmgirl with a mosin nagant says:

I have no personal knowledge (wasn’t even born or dreamed of), but didn’t things follow a similar pattern during the Korean war? As long as the girls got their penicillin and the appropriate authorities knew roughly what was up and where, it was business as usual?

Not the area of history I’m particularly familiar with.

    • Ex-PH2 says:

Here we go: certain sanctimonious religious piety — wouldn’t that be more correct as a ‘certain sanctimonious pseudo-religious piety’?

This is done to deflect attention away from their own corruption, which has been oozing all over the place for decades. They intentionally ignore the beastly behavior of white Democrats in the South in the days prior to the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and when that was passed, they were even worse. Lyndon Johnson pushed that through to get the black vote, using the nasty “N” word to describe his targets.

The entire responsibility for the deaths of three civil rights workers in Mississippi who went there to register blacks for voting lies entirely in the laps of the southern Democrats.

But this is conveniently forgotten and/or ignored by this current generation of ignoramuses, because it does not suit their pompous-assed view of themselves. Unless they come to terms with their own history, they are as phony and offensive as the cheap whores they are.

      • Perry Gaskill says:

Could be, although the term “sanctimonious religious piety” is probably more redundant than anything else. My point was that there’s apparently a new trend among some Democratic politicians to display religious piety. It seems to have started after the election when Hillary was quoted as saying that she was getting help dealing with her loss by consulting a female friend who is a lay minister. Pelosi, for example, has also been making similar religious noises recently. There have been others.

None of which, at least it seems to me, was particularly evident prior to last November. It’s almost as though somebody passed around a strategy memo looking at ways to lose the “godless commie” Progressive image in order to pick up a few evangelical votes, or whatever.

What the liberal media and CNN (of course) are not reporting is the age of consent in Alabama is 16 and has been since at least 1975, probably earlier. While it is distasteful to me, it is still legal if they consent.

  20. Martinjmpr says:

I have to admit, it’s entertaining to see the self-appointed intelligentsia, opinion-makers in the press and vapid talking heads in Hollywood fail again and again to prevent conservative politicians from being elected, even when they expend every round of ammunition in their rhetorical arsenal.

I think that what the coastal media elites have failed to understand is that

    (a) with the plethora of alternative information sources, they no longer control the public narrative the way they used to and

    (b) that accusations of racism or sexual harassment or impropriety lose their power when they are used so indiscriminately and in such a blatantly political manner.

Or to put it another way, if EVERYBODY is a racist, then being a “racist” means NOTHING. If EVERYBODY is a sexual harasser, or predator, then that, too, means nothing.

Furthermore, when such accusations are hurled at absolutely everyone on the opposing side, whether justified or not, then it’s easy for the public to dismiss them as mere political name calling – and, again, it loses any real meaning.

The democrats and the media have simply gone to the well one time too many with this type of accusation.

My guess is that if Moore wins the left will simply double-down on the head-asplody vitriol, name calling and declarations that everyone to the right of Hillary is “literally worse than Hitler.”

It’s going to be entertaining, that’s for sure.

    • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

One thing President Trump has done is push the left to reveal and parade their true colors for all to see!

    • Ex-PH2 says:

They’re conveniently forgetting, as I point out above, that it was the southern white Democrats who were the worst racists, not the GOPers. Democrats, not GOP.

Until they have that shoved in their faces repeatedly, they won’t shut up.

      • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Let’s not forget that 10 out of 10 crime-infested inner city hellholes have been lorded over by D-rats for decades. D-rats are always in favor of keeping as many of their Constituents as possible enslaved to the Government via welfare, SSI and any other way they can buy votes with our tax dollars. I’ve known a few people who had to go on welfare to feed themselves and they told me how difficult it was to get off of it, it’s programmed to punish success and reward dependency.

      • QMC says:

There was always plenty of racist Democrats up north too. New York City draft riots in 1863 resulted in one of the largest lynchings in American history, when over 200 African-Americans were attacked.

I’m neither a Trump supporter nor am I a fan of the obviously biased media and the self-appointed “great minds” in academia, Hollywood or the commentariat. So WRT the Trump vs The Establishment fight, I don’t really side with either faction.

The reality is that Trump says a lot of things that are provably, verifiably false and he seems to have zero impulse control.

But the funniest thing about the whole battle royale between Trump and the media is that Trump keeps calling the media biased and agenda driven, and the media’s response is … to become even MORE biased and agenda driven.

Trump calls the media names and says they have a personal vendetta against him, and the media responds by acting exactly like someone who has a personal vendetta against Trump.

And these guys who think they are so smart don’t realize that they are being played. They are undermining their own efforts by acting exactly like Trump constantly accuses them of acting.

And the vapid thinkers in the media don’t seem to be able to comprehend that the more they are perceived by the general public as having a personal animus against Trump, the more hollow their accusations sound.

No matter how much “proof” they think they have of Trump’s wrongdoing, if the accusations are seen as being politically motivated they lose their sting.

That’s Trump’s “genius.” He goads the opposition into getting personal, and once they get personal and lose even the smallest shred of objectivity, they also lose any credibility and become just another player on the political field.

One of the Assistant Scoutmasters of a Troop I worked with for years was a WWII vet from Anzio and beyond.

As he got older, he started to forget what were appropriate stories to tell around young boys. But some of the actions the Italian girls resorted to in order to feed themselves and their families were pretty sad.

Thailand is reported to be especially bad about very young rural girls lured into brothels on false pretenses. I know a missionary to the area that does part of her ministry to those very girls.

A different form of slavery, that is not that different I suppose.
