Ashley Zedner; phony Vietnam vet from Canada

| January 12, 2018 | 40 Comments

Our partners at Stolen Valour-Canada send us their work on this fellow, Ashley Zedner, who claims that he was wounded in Vietnam while he was assigned to the US 92d Airborne Division as an Army Gunnery Sergeant.

He claimed that he enlisted in the US Army in 1968. Here’s a picture of him in 1968. I guess this is his platoon of paratroopers;

From SV-C;

Stolen-Valour Canada received a number of inquiries based on photos of him wearing Canadian Medals and both Canadian and US parachutist insignia.

Prior to investing any research effort into what often becomes an unfounded wild goose chase, we contacted Mr Zedner, on 2 November 2017, in order to provide him with an opportunity to sort out the reported situation.

Through the use of open source research including websites, newspaper articles, photographic images, searchable data bases of medal recipients and extracts from online military documents in Canada, SV-C has found Zedner has made the following claims.

*Joined the Army in 1968,

*He was as a “Gunnery Sergeant” in the US Army in Vietnam where he was wounded in action,

*Claims to have been an Infantryman with 1st Bn The RCR, his 11 years of service included a tour with the “Peace Corp” in Cyprus,

*Was a fully qualified parachutist and proudly wears Canadian and US jump wings along with military free fall / HALO wings,

*He appears to forgotten his Canadian Peace Keeping Service Medal which would logically accompany the UNFICYP Medal,

*There is no evidence of a Purple Heart Medal despite his public claims, and

*Zedner also wears he the ubiquitous Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal without being on the list of recipients (…

What we do know:

*Zedner was an Infantryman in a Toronto based Reserve Force unit in the 1970s,

*He is NOT a US Army combat wounded veteran,

*He never served in Vietnam,

*He was never trained as a parachutist on either side of the border,

*He has no entitlement to the Eight Pointed Star of The RCR,

*He has no lawful entitlement to the UNFICYP Medal nor the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal.

Through an intermediary, ex Corporal / Mr Ashley William ZEDNER has now surrendered the medals and insignia that he wore without lawful authority (11 Jan 2018). The surrendered items include a maroon beret, RCR hat badge, US and Canadian parachutist wings, Military Free-fall / HALO wings and the UN Forces in Cyprus Medal. He has absolutely no entitlement to the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal and he’ll surrender that in the very near future. Arrangements will be made to have the items disposed of in an appropriate manner.

This clown from Canadia has had his pic and bullshit stories published many times over the years. He just loves the limelight. That’s great b/c he’s center stage right now. BTW, he was also an officer in the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 142.)

  2. IDC SARC says:

    Cocksucker, eh

  3. Claw says:

Just a guess, but I’m thinking the group picture is of the high school A/V Club and if you flip to the next page in the yearbook, old Ashley here was named the school’s most accomplished Mathlete./smile

    • Jeff LPH 3, 63-66 says:

That H.S. group shot of the possible A/V squad may have a time traveler from around 1959 in the photo. Check out the guy 6th from the right and look at his haircut. I’m the one person Amp/stage lighting crew (just me) that does the lighting and sound for our once a year drama club play and 4 shows that outside performers come in and perform during the Florida Snow bird season. I still comb my hair like I combed it back in the 1950’S but I am not a time traveler like that guy in the above year book who may be one. A, LOL

    • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Wasn’t the A/V Club always populated with NERDS?

  4. IDC SARC says:

Oh, and as someone with Canadian gold legspreaders… fukk you Ashley, eh

  5. Cris says:

Unless it was a typo, they have him as 56 yrs old. I’m 56, turning 57 this year, way to young to have served in Vietnam.

  6. 509Trooper says:

It’s irrelevant, but he is wearing the MFF wings upside down. Idiot.

  7. Combat Historian says:

Wow, a Gunnery Sergeant with the 92d Airborne Division; that’s some epic “Starship Trooper” shit right there; must’ve earned all those medals fighting the bugs…

  8. Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

The 92nd was an Airborne unit? When did that happen?

I always understood the 92nd division to be “colored’ infantry in Italy in 1944 and they were legs not airborne…and their shoulder patch was a buffalo…

If you’re going to claim membership in a unit maybe you should do a modicum of research…

Lie much you phony cocksucker, EH?

  11. 1610desig says:

The only combat drop in which he participated was to get his trousers down to ankle height to accommodate a line of truckers in stall three of his local Tim Horton’s

  12. A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Wait, he claims to have served in the 92nd Division AND :*He was as a “Gunnery Sergeant” in the US Army in Vietnam where he was wounded in action,”?

YEAH, and I was a Door Gunner on a USAF Submarine while attached to the US Army 69th Airborne with the rank of 1st Class Petty Officer!!

He can go shove a hot exhaust pipe up his ass to help let all the shit out of him, that guy is ALL foam and no beer!

HEY Ashley Zedner, TAKE OFF, HOSER!!!

  13. ArmyATC says:

Don’t journalists do even basic research anymore? The line below the picture int he news article lists Ashley Zedner as a 56 year old Vietnam veteran. Simply doing the math would have shown that he was 12 years old when the last US combat troops left Vietnam in 1973.

  14. Claw says:

SV Canada identified his year of birth as 1953. Articles citing him as being older than that are incorrect, but I’m sure he lied about his age to the journalist.

In the 1968 group class picture he’s 14/15 years old and sure looks to be about that age.

Dispute on age settled. He’ll turn 65 sometime this year.

  15. 11 Bravo says:

Ass hamster 1st class. What ah bag of dog sh_ t
No matter where be said he’s from.

  16. Marine 0331 says:

U.S.Army “Gunnery Sergeant” eh? My aunt twice removed from my uncle was a Command Sergeant Major General in the Marines…..What is wrong with these people?

  17. Once Burned says:

He was a member of my Legion branch for a few years and is in to many of us that were around at the time for quite a few bucks. What you also should know about are the multiple phoney cancer claims when he shaved his head and claimed months to live (that was 7 years ago) and the fundraiser a different branch had for his medical bills. Not much ethical about this guy. Took a lot of people on quite a ride.

    fucking hemma-roid!
