Mattis congratulates new ‘secretary of defense’

Relax, not another White House shake-up.
Navy Times reports the U.S. women’s Olympic hockey team goaltender Maddie Rooney’s Wiki page had humorously advanced her to ‘United States Secretary of Defense.’ I happened to be awake and watched the Gold Medal game against the Canadian woman’s team, and my heart was in my throat the entire time. I’m not really an ice hockey fan, but this game between the two world’s best teams was riveting. The game was tied after overtime, and victory was decided by a shoot-out, where the teams swap attempts to score, goalie against a single shooter.

The 20 year old Rooney successfully defended her goal against Canada’s best, allowing the US team to win the gold for the first time in the last four Winter Olympics.

The Wiki edit was changed after a day, but not before SecDef Jim Mattis saw it. He sent Rooney a personal note, congratulating her, from one Secretary of Defense to another, on her “magnificent performance.” She of course was thrilled, tweeting, “Wow, how cool is this! It is a great honor to jokingly hold the same title as someone as revered as Secretary Mattis.”

secdef note

America’s foes were unavailable for comment, as they too were up all night, because, Mattis.

(thought something a bit lighter was in order after a very active week)

Personal attagirl from Mattis? Millions have died in pursuit of lesser goals!

  2. A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Secretary Mattis once shot an azimuth that killed an entire enemy platoon.

Women’s ice hockey. It exists. That’s the first thing I learned from this piece. The second thing I learned is that it’s an Olympic sport. Lastly, I learned that those people from Canadia got their asses beat in their own game by the US. TAH is a wellspring of info.

  4. Ex-PH2 says:

    Now, that is too cool!

  5. Mason says:

So how long before the tolerant left makes Rooney (or tries to make her) rescind her praise for someone connected to Trump? Like last month when Lauren Gibbs took a selfie with Ivanka.

  6. OWB says:

Nice. And yes, it was a very good game.

He even yells when he writes.

There are faces that control. His is one. Would anyone ever consider saying, “But, sir,…” to that mug? How about, “I don’t agree, sir.”

    • Dinotanker says:

While I think it would take a titanic set of titanium ‘nads to say…”I don’t agree, sir”. He would probably thump the hell of someone who let a bad idea fly, when they had a better option to suggest.

but this game between the two world’s best (womens)teams was riveting. You forgot to insert that. I watched it too and was on the edge of my seat but it was a womens league game. The [lack of] playmaking reflected that and that’s one reason it went to overtime. Sorry if that sounds sexist but it is the truth.

    • AW1Ed says:

American gals beat Canadian gals at the Olympics in a world class, epic duel. If you have problems with that I feel sorry for you.

I had something else to say here, but I’ll leave it at that.

Women play with more finesse and less brute force than men. Still a good game, just doesn’t always appeal to us mouth-breathing knuckle-draggers.

It’s only a matter of time untilleftists bully her to denounce Mattis and apologize for her online behavior.

Very cool that the Warrior Monk would take the time to send her a note.. shows the kind of man he is (not that it wasn’t already clear)But good on Maddie for not being a candy ass like so many of the other Olympic athletes who were too busy being SJW’s to actually excel at their sports, and that she recognized how cool it was to receive something like that, from someone like Secretary Mattis..

    Mattis 2020 just saying!
