Salcido canned

| March 21, 2018 | 132 Comments

Gregory Salcido, the teacher at El Rancho Unified School District in Pico Rivera, California who expressed some pretty vile opinions about folks in the military has been canned by the local school board, according to Board of Education President Aurora Villon as reported by Fox News;

“His comments do not reflect what we stand for, who we are,” Villon said, adding that “the classroom should never be a place where students feel that they are picked at, bullied, intimidated.”

Salcido faced a severe backlash after a student secretly recorded him asking his government class why they would want to serve in the military, calling those who serve “dumbs???s.”

“Think about the people who you know who are over there. Your freaking stupid Uncle Louie or whatever. They’re dumbs???s,” Salcido can be heard saying in the Jan. 25 tirade.

“They’re not like high-level thinkers, they’re not academic people, they’re not intellectual people. They’re the lowest of our low.”

Well, obviously, Salcido isn’t a “high-level thinker” otherwise he would have kept his opinions to himself. He was trying to bully a group of boys to avoid military service.

Salcido is still a member of the city council, where his apology doubled down on the dumb;

“I don’t think it’s all a revelation to anybody that those who aren’t stellar students usually find the military a better option. … That’s not a criticism of anybody. Anything I said had nothing to do with their moral character,” he said, the paper reported.

During a break, he told reporters that he believes the military is the not the “best option” for his students, but added “that does not mean I’m anti-military, because I’m not.”

Yeah, he’s not anti-military, he’s just anti-soldier. Stank-ass hippie.

Look at the expression on salcido’s face in that photo. He’s got a hair up his backside that probably feels like 4×4 and he’s the one who put it there.

So much anger toward everything and everyone in that hollow man. Screw him.

  2. Jonp says:

Fuck You, Shithead. Some of the best and brightest i ever met were my fellow soldiers. How many of your American Hating, arrogant, elite, intellectual Progressive fellow traveling Cowards would lay down their lives for you? I know a bunch that would for me and vice versa. The sooner this asshole is forgotten the better.
Kudos to the school for acting swiftly and decisively on this

    • 11B-Mailclerk says:

Not too many folks stepped up to the plate for him, beyond yapping.

Most of us here have probably stood up for associates we did not even like.

I have also noticed that the folks here in or previously in armed service have a very wide depth and width of knowledge. Most write at a very high level (typos discounted, I meant word choice and structure)

      Boot-mouth boy is just jealous.

  3. QMC says:

Do “High level thinkers” regularly say dumbass BS and get fired from their jobs?

    • NHSparky says:

Sadly, he probably has tenure at the HS.

And anyone who has taught knows how nearly impossible it is to get someone with tenure fired.

      • Commissioner Wretched says:

I taught for 26 years. It’s difficult, but it CAN be done.

It’s harder in California, a state with an active teachers’ union. I live in Georgia, which has no union.

But it can still be done, especially if the teacher’s offense is egregious enough.

      • oldrmepilot says:

He is still being PAID until all appeals are exhausted. So he gets to sit on his can, draw his check and let the union works its appeals magic.

    • desert says:

It is amazing , this ignorant p.o.s. badmouths the very people (veterans/military) that allow this moronic clown to make a complete phool of himself! Without the Vets protection, this a.h. would be in hole in the ground somewhere! imo

  4. Deckie says:

And I am sure this scumbag thinks he epitomizes all the traits of a “high level thinker.” Tool.

Some of the smartest and hardest working people I ever worked with wore the uniform at one point or another. I’d never think to put anyone down for following in the giant footsteps of those who went before them.

    • Heart of TEXAS (PSG, Ret.) says:

Those who can, DO; those who can’t, TEACH.

      • IDC SARC says:

No need to disparage the entire profession because of one shit bag.

        • desert says:

As long as the “whole profession” serves under the communist NEA…you bet your ass we can disparage them! Look at what they have done to the kids, come out of schools/college dumber than they went in and brainwashed into socialism! You think we shouldn’t disparage them? I say any of them that are worth a shyt need to CLEAN UP THEIR PROFESSION!

      • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

I always heard “Those who can, teach and those who can’t go into some less important Profession.” Gregory Salcido was not a real Teacher, he was a bed wetting bully that used to have “Teacher” as his job title.

        • Commissioner Wretched says:

My favorite take on that old saw is:

“Those who can, teach. Those who can’t, pass laws about teaching.”

I had that up on my bulletin board in my classroom once, when a member of the state legislature visited the school. Needless to say, after her visit, it came down and would never be seen again – courtesy of my principal.

  5. OldManchu says:

Not that income alone is any single measure of a good man, but some of the highest income earners I personally know now in mid-life are some former light infantry brothers who did a hitch from E-1 to E-4 and kept on driving on after their ETS.

And they would / could stomp this guy’s ass. Lol. Beta male in denial Salcido.

  6. Deplorable B Woodman says:

What a pile of conflict, confusion, obfuscation, lying, and downright SHIT.

  7. Commissioner Wretched says:

It couldn’t have happened to a more deserving individual.

Watch him scream, now, about how his First Amendment rights have been “violated.”

    Bull. Shit.

He got what he deserved. I was a teacher for 26 years … never once tried to “indoctrinate” my kids in history classes. I encouraged military service in my students, and I can’t tell you how many followed my advice.

  8. Bobo says:

I can produce a list of officers with doctoral degrees with whom I’ve worked for or with. When I was in the National Guard it wasn’t unusual to have a J.D., a Ph.D., or and Ed.D. as an E-6 or E-7 running around the armory on the weekend. I’d also venture to guess that 90% of the Army’s LTCs have a graduate degree.

Obviously asshat’s opinions are uninformed at best, which is always the first sign that someone isn’t a high-level thinker or an intellectual.

    • Jay says:

I was an E-7 with a graduate degree running around, passing guidance to junior Marines and getting most, if not ALL of my Marines enrolled in either college, vocational training, or the MASP program to give them credentials to pair with intangible training to put them above their ‘peers’ when they separated service. I also served as a substitute teacher on recruiting duty, and did SAT/ACT tutoring for students and Marines alike. I will match my SAT/ACT/degrees against this asshole 7 days a week and twice on Sunday and KNOW that I can smash his ass on any level.

Not an academic, high level thinker? Fuck this dude.

      • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

These days there is NO shortage of Senior NCOs with Graduate Degrees and it’s a known fact that the US Military is THE most educated segment of the US Population hands down.

      • NHSparky says:

Ditto. While I have “only” a Bachelor’s Degree, I’d be more than happy to compare HS and college GPA, relative difficulty of degree (mine is in a STEM field, his is not), as well as any other metric he chooses to use.

Cause, ya know, nukes aren’t, “High level thinkers.” Right, Bobo?

        • JoeMama says:

Don’t forget us fuck-ups who did do shitty in HS and had no idea what to do for a future. I credit the military for putting me on the right path towards an engineering degree.

          • SFC D says:

Me! Me! That’s me! I did very poorly in HS, not because I was stupid. It was because I didn’t give a shit. A’s on exams plus no homework turned in still equals a low C GPA. My college attempt was the same. Joined the Army with the intent of doing 4 years and a fresh attempt at college with the GI Bill. 24 years later, I have a skillset that no school can teach, a degree, a decent retirement check each month, and a second career. Not bad for a HS slacker.

            • Jay says:

Dear God…this is me in a nutshell. My old man died when I was 16 so I pretty much said “F school”. Graduated with a 2.3 GPA. Didn’t wanna go to college. Started out with doing 4 years in the Corps, which turned into 20. Walked away with an AA, BA, and an MPA degree, no student loan debt and a hell of a 2nd career working social services.

              • HMC Ret says:

I joined with a HS diploma and retired 23 years later with an MS from U. of Arkansas in Operations Management, BS from Southern Illinois U. in Health Care Administration and an AS in Clinical Nuclear Medicine Technology from George Washington U. I was not alone. Most CPOs I knew had at least a BA/BS and many had a Masters. Most did it for career opportunity/advancement, as I did. Upon retirement, I got a BA in History from the U. of West Florida. It’s the degree I most cherish as I’m a freaking history freak. As a group, I will put military personnel ‘against’ any other group as far as loyalty, love of country, duty, honor and love of brother. I look upon teachers as pretty much a free-for-all group. No offense to teachers, but that’s how I see it. Seems to work for them, though, what with the union at their backs. It’s hard to screw up when you have the union in your pocket to protect you against screwups. I believe most get into the teaching profession for noble reasons but also feel many become disillusioned by the politics of the system. JMO, your views may vary.

  9. A Proud Infidel®™ says:

*WHOOOOOT!*, Great news to hear, I was wondering if they were just waiting for the heat to die down and reinstate him, Government entities are well known for chickenshit like that. But GREGORY SALCIDO WAS FIRED and he’s going to need lots of luck finding his next job unless he’s just going to wash dishes at Bubba’s Bar and Grill when he’s not pushing a broom, slinging a mop or cleaning up puke. Google be with you Gregory Salcido, THE INTERNET IS FOREVER, YOU DUMB BITCH!!!

  10. Ex-PH2 says:

    Yeah, Google IS forever.

Look at that nasty, poisonous look on Salcido’s face in that photo – like he could spit nails if he had them, but he’d still miss the target.

Well, he brought this on himself, so I feel ZERO sympathy for him and will feel that way for some time to come. A little humility would do him a world of good.

  11. Tallywhagger says:

Salcido the hater will probably go Bernathian to redeem his righteousness.

  12. USAF RET says:

Good, I’m sick of seeing this p*ssy. That look on his mug makes me want to punch my monitor.

  13. Mason says:

The good news keeps coming this morning.

  14. Flakpup says:

In the field of psychology, the Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias wherein people of low ability suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly assessing their cognitive ability as greater than it is. The cognitive bias of illusory superiority derives from the metacognitive inability of low-ability persons to recognize their own ineptitude; without the self-awareness of metacognition, low-ability people cannot objectively evaluate their actual competence or incompetence. -Kruger, Justin and Dunning, David.

So there you go. He’s not evil, he’s just… well, “special”.

    • Jay says:

Apparently during his pursuit of his bachelors in history, he never learned the axiom of “Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”

Doesn’t this squeak-hole know the interwebz is FOREVER?

      • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Gregory Salcido has been teaching for how long with only a Bachelors Degree? I restate my theory that he was too mediocre of an Undergraduate Student to get admitted to any Masters Program.

    • Graybeard says:

I am not sure Salcido can understand those 4-bit words you used there, Flackpup.

In fact, I’m pretty sure the entire topic is over his head in it’s rectocranial positioning.

    • Geetwillickers says:

I have thought since I first watched this dude, that he is one of those guys that is pretty good at arguments, and have translated that skill (in their minds anyway) into a superior intelligence. (Think of a certain late non-cpo…)

I tried to watch his screed, but only lasted a minute or so. But in that time, I spotted several glaring gaps in his logic and the logical fallacies he used to argue for them. Just one example: that we can’t defeat a bunch of stone-age guys in flip-flops with all of our technical superiority. This is a classical straw-man argument ignoring all of the complexities of the middle-east conflict and boiling it all down to a single ridiculous example that on the surface, appears to support his position.

In my experience, winning arguments does not necessarily indicate greater intelligence. In most cases, it is simply being louder and mpre stubborn.

    • 2/17 Air Cav says:

To bastardize Philosopher DesCartes’s famous line, I think I am smarter than everyone else, therefore, I am.

      • Graybeard says:

For those who do not get the reference (e.g. Gregory Salcido and his ilk) that is René Descartes (1596–1650):

Of course, Gregory Salcido and his ilk may just think of Descartes as an old dead white guy, and dismiss him entirely.

        • Roger in Republic says:

While Mr. Salcido might not get the Descartes reference, I did, and I am one of the low level thinkers he denigrates. By the way, I still have my teaching credentials, and no one is trying to resend them either.

        • Ex-PH2 says:

Seriously, DesCartes said “I drink, therefore I am.”

          The Bruces Philosopher’s Song

Immanuel Kant was a real piss-ant who was very rarely stable.

Heideggar, Heideggar was a boozy beggar who could think you under the table.

David Hume could out-consume Schoppenhauer and Hegel.

And Whittgenstein was a beery swine who was just as sloshed as Schlegel.

There’s nothing Nieizsche couldn’t teach ‘ya ’bout the raising of the wrist.

          Socrates, himself, was permanently pissed.

John Stewart Mill, of his own free will
On half a pint of shandy was particularly ill.

Plato, they say, could stick it away,
Half a crate of whiskey every day.

Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle,

And Hobbes was fond of his dram.

And Rene Descartes was a drunken fart.
          ‘I drink, therefore I am.’

          Yes, Socrates himself is particularly missed;
A lovely little thinker, but a bugger when he’s pissed.

          Descartes goes behind dehorses.

  15. OWB says:

Good. With his multiple past charges of similar behaviors (is he escalating?) getting the teaching cert revoked should be fairly easy.

He’ll end up some place like Berkeley, of course.

  16. HMCS(FMF) ret says:

Hey Greg, you cocksucking, bigoted assclown…. did you hear this playing in the background when your sorry ass got canned?

    • OldSoldier54 says:

Whoa … haven’t heard that one in beaucoup years.

    • OWB says:

Those were some strange, strange days. Some great music, some very bad music. Some terrific musicians, some even in good bands. Crazy lyrics, especially the ones coming from bands convinced they sounded better when high. It was all very entertaining.

No, I didn’t make it to Woodstock but know folks who did. I did have tickets to a sister event. Didn’t make that one either because my VW ran out of steam. Missed the concert but kept the car.

Stank ass hippie military hating liberal without his cushy government job … well that is pretty low.

    • USMCMSgt (Ret) says:

Now that the school district fired his sorry fuggin’ ass, there’s hope the community will follow suit and get him out of office.

After all, I’m sure there are quite a few military types (former, currently serving, family members, etc) who live in that community and don’t share his views. They have the right to vote, too.

Here’s to hoping he learns there are consequences to actions.

  18. Old Trooper says:

Crabby looking little bitch; ain’t he?

  19. SgtM says:

He has the nerve to say his crap, and then show up at the VFW trolling for votes. I watched his apology, it was not an apology. It was an ” I did nothing wrong and you took it out of context ” speech.

  20. UpNorth says:

    AMF, Salcido.

  21. Skyjumper says:

Gregory Salcido is so stupid, he couldn’t even make it as a California teacher.

    Good riddance, cabana boy!

  22. Steve1371 says:

In the field of opportunity its plowing time again for old Greg. Maybe he can shovel bird shit out of his coo-coo clock till something turns up. That may help him from getting his ass in an uproar.

  23. MustangCryppie says:

Ridiculous idiot who obviously has no idea what he’s talking about.

Kind of peripherally connected to this, I worked for a colonel in Germany who told me once that the scariest words in the English language are, “Well…I’m just a dumb country boy, but…”.

Following that statement, he said he usually got his ass handed to him.

This shithead wouldn’t last 5 minutes with such people.

  24. Wilted Willy says:

I am very grateful to the U.S.Army, they gave me a million dollar education that has served me very well over the last 50 years. It provided me with the ability to get a very good career and has provided me with a very high standard of living! I’m sure without my Army education, I never would have achieved the level of success I have enjoyed all these years! So, fuck off towel boy, I hope you enjoy your Google fame while serving fries at McDonalds. Now go eat shit and die asshole!!!

  25. NR Pax says:

The fact that he could have used his power as a teacher to punish the student who recorded him and nothing would have been done about it makes this even more heinous.

Truth to tell, I am surprised this happened to him. I guess the PR department wasn’t willing to work overtime to help him out.

  26. MCPO NYC USN Ret. says:

Invite Ms. Salcido here to discuss his grievances!

    That would a hoot!

  27. Mustang Major says:

It’s tough when your 15 minutes of fame are a crash and burn.

The love of his life prolly left his impotent micropeen for a virile man in uniform.

  29. The Other Whitey says:

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer assdouche. Not only did he verbally abuse students in the video, he also apparently has a history of putting hands on them as well. He’s a bully in a position of power—that is to say he *was* in a position of power.

Besides, last time I checked, active duty personnel and veterans were not only significantly more likely to attend college than the general population, they’re also more likely to get degrees, and those degrees are more likely to be 4-year or better. I guess Salcido thinks college is easy, but that logically circles back to bite him in the ass as well.

I’ve worked for, with, and above dozens of veterans in my career. Almost all of them are pretty damn sharp. Maybe *one* of them could be called an idiot, and to be honest, he makes up for a lot with attitude and commitment that he lacks in decision-making, and he does alright with supervision. He may not be the best planner, but he knows how to follow orders. I could talk for days about the legions of functional retards I’ve seen come and go who never served. Tell me who’s the higher-level thinker: the one outlying vet who doesn’t do great by himself, but follows orders you give him quickly and without bullshit, or the prep-school kid whose only motivation is that he wants to tell chicks he’s a fireman, never listens, never pays attention, and can’t be trusted with anything? Which one do you think we took pains to get rid of?

Gregory Salcido is an idiot with delusions of genius.

    • OWB says:

He probably is just honked off at vets because we tend to not only be better educated than the general population but have more street sense as well. In other words, we tend to be better balanced than idiots like him who don’t seem to do well either in academia or in the real world. In my limited experience, that balance seems to transcend political leanings, with notable exceptions seemingly exclusively on the left side of the political spectrum.
