Terrorist attack in France

| March 23, 2018 | 52 Comments

Fox News reports that a terrorist is holed up in a supermarket in Trebes after ambushing a group of policemen who were jogging near Carcassonne, France this morning;

The gunman then took shelter inside the supermarket in Trebes and reportedly yelled “Allahu Akbar!” which roughly translates to “God is Great!” in Arabic.

The suspect also reportedly said “he is ready to die for Syria” and demanded Abdeslam be released from custody. Abdeslam is the lone surviving member of an ISIS terror cell behind the deadly 2015 attacks in Paris that killed 130 people at a theatre, the national stadium and cafes.

Two people are dead and twelve are injured. The gunman has released all of the hostages except one police officer.

Too bad the French don’t have draconian gun control laws that would have prevented this terrorist from possessing a rifle.

Those pesky Amish folks again. Even in France.

  2. Graybeard says:

Poor guy was just looking for the Hawaiian-themed snack bar and was snubbed by a Frenchman because of his atrocious accent. /s

Isn’t it odd how those draconian laws, constant surveillance, and socialist policies still fail to stop folks from killing people? And isn’t it odd the mental contortions the DNC and other Socialists engage in to argue that if we just did things their way, all would be unicorns and rainbows?

    • AW1Ed says:

“…Socialists engage in to argue that if we just did things their way, all would be unicorns and rainbows?”

And a hundred + years and millions of lives they STILL haven’t gotten it right. Wonder why?

      • Graybeard says:

Because these particular Socialists were not the ones in charge, of course. Duh!

Talk about a religion that demands blind faith and unquestioning obedience, and Socialism says “Here I am!”

  3. The Other Whitey says:

A fine example of gun control laws preventing bad guys from getting scary black rifles! Oh, wait…

  4. Combat Historian says:

The covert pipeline of military ordnance flowing from the Balkans to mozzie terrorists in Western Europe continues unabated, draconian gun bans or not…

  5. 2/17 Air Cav says:

Whatever “Allahu Akbar!” might have meant to peace-loving Muslims (both of them), it is now linked inseparably to murdering terrorist bastards immediately before they kill or try to kill. Consequently, I hold the words in deep disdain and wish nothing but the worst for the bastards who utter them.

    • Graybeard says:

I read one account by someone much more familiar – in a first-hand manner – with the culture than I wherein they claimed the proper translation of “Allahu Akbar” is “God is Greatest” – and the implication being that whatever the speaker is confronting is contra Allah and so to be destroyed or subjugated.

That is, it should be understood not as “God is great [and so are a number of other things]” but “God is greatest [and you and your beliefs are trash.]”

      • 2/17 Air Cav says:

I thought Ali was the greatest. He used to say so, anyway.

      • 11B-Mailclerk says:

Correct “akbar” in context is “greatest”/”supreme”.

There is a second part that translates as ” and Mohammed is the prophet of Allah”.

The phrase, either version, is one of absolute supremacy.

The only iron-clad requirement to be a Muslim is to recite the full version of that phrase, in Arabic verbatim, three times before witnesses.

  6. SgtM says:

Fake news, guns are not allowed in Europe.

  7. 2banana says:

Allahu Akbar mean “allah is greater”

As is allah is greater than your God. And allows us to do this.

‘Gunman in French hostage situation shot dead by police after killing at least 2’

“The gunman who killed at least 2 people before barricading himself inside a supermarket in southern France, has been fatally shot by police.

The announcement came just minutes after French President Emmanuel Macron said the incident appears to be a terrorist attack.”

    • AW1Ed says:

“The suspect was identified as Redouane Lakdim, 26, a petty criminal and small-time drug dealer who was said to be radicalized and under police surveillance, French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb said.”

Damn fine thing he was under surveillance; otherwise he may have caused trouble. How about instead of surveilling these assholes, deport them? Hondo’s Rat Islands would be a good choice, as anyone who has been to Adak can appreciate.

  9. USAF RET says:

How’s that tight gun control working out for you Pepe?

    • Hondo says:

Give the French their due: both their population and government in general acknowledge the threat from radical Islam and take measures to mitigate same.

In the US, much of the population ignores that same threat. Some ignore it because they’re ignorant or oblivious; some because they’re in denial; and the rest do so willfully because it doesn’t “fit the narrative”.

      • USAF RET says:

Hondo, fair comment. But for most of Europe the barn door has been open far too long for meaningful mitigation. They do call a spade a spade though. You are correct wrt the US population. God forbid we offend anyone

        • Graybeard says:

Call a spade a spade over in most European countries will get you prison time for hate speech.

Great Britain, Sweden, Germany, France… along with Canada, all have prosecuted folks for crimes of telling the truth.

  10. Flagwaver says:

Wait a minute. I thought it was even more difficult to get a gun in the entire country of France than it was to get one in Baltimore. You know, to the point that there is no private citizen firearm ownership. So, where did he get the gun when it was illegal for him to get it? They need more gun laws to prevent terrorists from obtaining illegal firearms illegally.

  11. Sparks says:

If I could subversively become the Emperor of Islam, the first thing I would decree is that the whole 72 virgin thing is in the shitter. Now, if you die as a martyr, you get 40 acres and a mule to work them.

  12. lily says:

We need to go back to the boarder land days of the Scotch-Irish. When a terrorist kills your family member the whole family can go kill their family. A good ol’ family feud is what we need. Then the Muslims would think “Europe? I’m not going to live with those crazies”.

  13. Atkron says:

I blame the DRF for this.

    (Dropped Rifles of France)

  14. FatCircles0311 says:

Wonder how many more military the streets can take. Seems like an easier solution would be to kick the problem people out and not invite them in to cause havoc in the first place.

Western Civilization is stuck on stupid an people with room temperature IQ’s are taking advantage.

  15. Devtun says:

A modern day Devil’s Island French Guiana for Islamic thugs. It’s not death, but they’ll wish it was.

    • rgr769 says:

That was their solution for the criminal class back in those days. I had the same thought as a place to put them. Gotta be cheaper than all that supposed 24-7 monitoring.

  16. OldManchu says:

    France? Where is that?

  17. Ex-PH2 says:

Well, despite what youse guys think, it is NOT impossible to have a gun if you’re going to use it for hunting. Hunting season in Provence is now underway.

You’ll notice that, unlike the USA, there is a season wild boar, which starts in June and ends in August. It’s not impossible to have a gun in France. You simply have to jump through hunting hoops for it.
