Robert Kenneth Hume, forger

| April 24, 2018

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution tells the story of Robert Kenneth Hume who applied for a job as chief with the Marietta, Georgia Fire Department with a forged DD214, Military Discharge;

“The Accused did alter his Army DD214, discharge paper, to reflect awards and military training that he did not earn or complete,” the arrest warrant states. “The alteration was done in a manner to look as if it was completed by Army personnel at the time of his discharge.”

Hume’s DD214 had been altered to show he had earned a silver star medal, a bronze star medal, a purple heart medal and numerous others, according to police.

“The Accused also presented a fraudulent certificate stating he had earned the rank of Master Sergeant, when the highest rank actually obtained was Sergeant,” the warrant states.

Hume submitted his application April 5; the warrant was taken April 17.

He was charged with first-degree forgery, a felony, and false statements as a military veteran, a misdemeanor, according to Marietta police.

I guess Hume is still in his home state of California because the Marietta police are pondering whether or not they’re going to bring him to Georgia to face charges.

Looks like he went to court with the Campo, Ca FD. it’s never a good idea to piss of the people that will be giving your your references….

  2. 2/17 Air Cav says:

The guy must have a thing for fire chiefing. I found a story from last year that says Robert Hume from Campo CA was one of a few finalists selected for interviews for the Northern AZ Consolidated Fire District.

Can one get to apply for fire chief jobs w/o experience? I dunno. The point is that the DD 214 he showed GA has likely been shown elsewhere, too. It’s time to check those files!

being a fire chief is like being a fireman without the actual fire fighting…

When I first started as a Volly proby, I was asked what the three sides of the triangle were that would extinguish the red devil, so I said heat, oxygen and fuel which at the time the fire triangle consisted of so my training officer says you missed one. Says that if you take the Chief off of the fire scene, the fire goes out faster. I hope I didn’t offend any of you ex Chiefs out there. Oldie but a goody. The newer version which has been out for a number of years is called the fire tetrahedrin which has the chemical chain reaction (flame part) as the 4th side making the Chief the 5th part now. Grin.

    • Jeff LPH 3, 63-66 says:

Usually one would go up the ranks starting as an FF then Lt, Captain then Chief. So if one was already a Chief, he/she could go to another Dept. and get hired as a Chief. Then again, in some Dept’s, once you make Division chief which is one rank above Chief, then anything above that rank is usually an appointment.

  3. RM3(SS) says:

Extraditions are expensive and time consuming. I used to see out of state warrants all the time that said “will only extradite from xx(surrounding states).” In other words, they tell the guy just stay in California and do your crime there and we’ll leave you alone.

    • Mason says:

CA is notorious for that. I understand the low level dope charges or the auto theft, but I had one where the guy was wanted in CA (and surrounding states) for aggravated assault.

  4. ChipNASA says:

I say they should hire him and let him run into a burning building without the proper training….

    “Alrighty guys, lets GOOOOOOOOOOOO\

  5. MrBill says:

The US Army White Pages lists a veteran named Robert Kenneth Hume as a Private First Class. Nine Robert Humes are listed (three are colonels!) but only one Robert Kenneth Hume.

  6. Claw says:

Robert Kenneth Hume should have applied for a Fire Chief’s job in New York State with that altered/forged DD214.

In New York State, they elect you to their State Veterans Hall of Fame for using a altered/forged DD214.

Albert Ruiz did it. Robert Kenneth Hume should be able to do it too./smile

  7. Mason says:

I can understand trying to use a forged DD-214 to get a private sector job, or even a government job. But why on Earth would you do it at a FD (or a PD), where a lot of veterans would be?

As a retired FD Volly with 30 years active under my belt, I find this story a little Hume erus.

  11. Ret_25X says:

everyone wants to be a badass…until it is time to be a badass, then they would rather fake the funk on a 214.

    What a jerk off.

  12. Twist says:

I don’t understand the need to forge a DD214. When I applied for my current job the only thing they cared about is that my member 4 copy showed a Honorable Discharge. They could care less if the only things on my DD214 was the ASR and the coveted NDSM.

Did Frankie ever get his Purple Heart, the one he said he so deserved, the one from the bamboo scratch? Gee, I hope so. Anyone who spent years chasing down a Purple Heart for himself truly deserves…deserves…deserves a kick in the ass.

  14. MCPO NYC USN Ret. says:

California = a whole lot of altered DD-214 shenanigans!

  15. Currahee John says:

Heh, seems his firefighting career was faked, too. The only department he listed on his application no longer exists.

    What the big deal?

That Active Felony Warrant in the State of Georgia IS NOT gonna look good on his resume’ and it’s gonna hamper his future job searches as well.

Robert Kenneth Hume fucketh himself very handily.

      • Thunderstixx says:

I doubt that even fast food joints would even hire this pukewaffle.
That being said, if he would now just call himself a CPO, Honorary or otherwise all would be cool…
