From Orlando, Florida;

Police are looking into a shooting along Southeast 14th Street this Sunday morning.

They say that an intruder was shot by a homeowner.

The suspect is now being treated at the hospital.

From Ocala, Florida;

A 30-year-old man is in critical condition after he was shot after breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home early Sunday morning, according to Ocala Police.

Authorities said the man broke into the home and encountered his ex-girlfriend’s adult child, who was armed. The suspect fled toward a bedroom that the woman’s younger children were in, and the adult child shot him.

The suspect then jumped out a second-story window. Officers later located him a few blocks away.

Earlier the same morning, officers were called to the residence when the ex-girlfriend, who is out of town, noticed on her security cameras that the suspect was trying to get inside. When authorities arrived the suspect had fled.

Investigators say the individuals in the case have been involved in previous domestic violence incidents.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital.

    Nothin’ sez lovin’ like breaking into an ex-GF place. And I’m willing to bet she had a (worthless) restraining order against the perp, too.
    Too bad the “adult child” didn’t apply the One More Taxpayer’s Savings Shot.

    The Ocala incident reads like a soap opera. I’ll bet you could write a thick book on all the backstory.

    • UpNorth says:

      Moat of those types of things are all like a soap opera. The reason that few books are written or movies made is that folks won’t believe what the backstory is.
      Movies like The Burning Bed are the exception to that.

    The Ocala invader got shot at by an adult child?

    Sister Mary Grace grits her teeth while explaining to low-voltage reporters with poor English skills that adults are not children. If they are direct descendants of someone, they are offspring.

    Five smacks with Sister Mary Grace’s No. 15 yellow pencil, such punishment only mitigated by the ‘jumped out a window’ phrase include in the story.

    • Roger in Republic says:

      What is wrong with Adult Son or Daughter? Adult child is an oxymoron. If they don’t want to identify the sex of the shooter, then adult offspring is OK. Or even adult relative works too. What’s with hiring elementary school grad to staff writing positions. Aren’t there any adults available for these positions?

      Sister Mary Grace should use the Mark 1A12 ruler for this particular infraction. I always found that it got my attention.
