YouTube cancels Brownells’ video channel

| June 11, 2018 | 51 Comments

The National Review reports that YouTube has deleted the Brownells’ videos. Brownell is an 80-year-old gun supplies company. Their hundreds of videos were used by gun owners to help them repair and alter their firearms. When I bought a Glock, I viewed their videos because I knew nothing of Tupperware-based firearms.

Powerful advertising platforms like Google, Facebook, and Twitter have come under fire recently from Second Amendment advocates for apparent censorship of gun-related content. Even products meant to increase gun safety, such as ZORE’s highly-rated gun safety lock, have seen their advertisements censored, the internet platforms citing policies restricting ads for firearms sales.

Facebook has rejected advertising from TAH that was related to our discussions here on Second Amendment issues. Google advertising has also rejected placement of their ads on certain discussions of a related nature. I guess that the gun grabbers can’t convince us, so they plan to limit the flow of information to American voters.

Thanks to Andy11M for the link.

they …just…don’t get it. that’s not going to stop us. they don’t seem to get that it’s going to hurt them more than us. our lives just aren’t based around what The Party wants, and nothing about this country in general, or people like us in particular, is going to work with this centralized thinking concept. what a bunch of idiots.

  2. jim h says:

these guys just don’t get it. this is rigid thinking, and shows an inability to see beyond narrowly closed mind concepts. we are not centralized in this country. limiting search traffic will not make it go away. wishing it weren’t so will not change anything. this will hurt them more than us. brownells will not suffer because of it.

  3. 26Limabeans says:

Why don’t these fools look at what happened to Target. The shareholders want dividends, not virtue signaling. Unless of course the shareholders are leftists like Soros and the majority of customers are sheep.

You forgot how Dick’s stepped all over their Dick and got it stuck in the wringer right al;ong with their titty !!!
They are getting their asses kicked. Sales are down all over the store as fewer people even stop by their store preferring good old Walmart where you can still get great prices on ammo and they actually have some too !!!
The NFL is going to be really hurting bad this year as they learn that even more people are finding something else to do on weekends, like going to the range…

    Dear YouTube,
Remember that American was founded by recalcitrants and Our lineage has favored Individual Rights over populist fervor, more often than not. Keep on lefting… I promise it’ll work out for you.
    P.S. BLUF(at the bottom), GFY.

  5. NHSparky says:

Well, if you want to make it easier to take rights away from the people, you make them ignorant of facts relating to said rights, which then discourages people from using their rights.

    Easy peasy.

Last I checked Pornhub was hosting all the gun videos that were getting kicked off of Utub. They were doing it based upon 1A grounds.

Didn’t know Brownells had these videos. Years ago, I purchased a kit from them for my 92SF Beretta which was made in Italy so I needed metric tools, kit for my S&W .38 cal. Mod 14 and many more tools and books which cost moocho bucks. I don’t remember if I bought the VHS tapes for a few of the handguns I wanted to work on from Brownells or another source.

    • Andy11M says:

Got my first 1911 and went to YouTube looking to find out how to take it apart and Brownells had the best video.

      • OWB says:

You youngsters! Sometimes it is hilarious, at other times humbling, and sometimes just sad – many of us here were handling armaments loooooong before PCs, iGiggle, Tunes, Tube, and cell towers. Mobile phones were hardwired in cars, very few people could afford them, and it was easier/faster to use a pay phone.

Some of us even went to school before the lefties took them over completely.

I don’t have a problem with YouTube/Google and what they choose to allow and to prohibit. I am confident that some bright person will develop successful alternatives, just as AMAC was launched thanks to AARP’s lefty agenda. I love YouTube for car-repair videos and some other stuff. Otherwise, I can do without it. Contrary to Brownell’s response to YouTube’s censorship, there is no constitutional issue here. They can quash everything except flattering Antifa and Wide Load videos if they want. My solace is in looking at who is in the White House–and who is not. That tells me that America is far from cooked. And the more Hollywooders and other social do-gooders rant and rave, the broader my smile gets.

The problem isn’t that they can choose to allow what they want, or not. The problem is their utter and complete hypocrisy about what they are doing.

Especially with Facebook. Mark Zuck was asked by Congressional Committee about why conservative pages/videos are being more severely censored compared to liberal pages/videos (and comments for both). He really didn’t have a good answer.

Same thing with Hollywood. They do drugs, while telling people “don’t do drugs!”. They have armed security and firearms in their own houses, while saying, “we need stricter gun laws!” (which wouldn’t apply to them of course). They say/do what ever they want, but if someone says something that triggers them, “OMG! that is soooo offensive, they are racist/misogynist/homophobic (while Hollywood is the capital of racist/misogynist/homophobic ideals and actions)

If they only got off their hypocritical high horse and stopped playing “we are the elite class, you should do what we tell you. just don’t talk about what WE do!”, then it wouldn’t be as much of an issue.

      • 2/17 Air Cav says:

I particularly enjoy the Hollywooders who starred in movies where they shot 2 to 200 people, beat the crap out of another 40 or 50, and then decry violence and The Gun. The knuckleheads act in fantasies, work, and often live, in a place called Tinseltown, and then feel qualified to tell us what to think and how to vote. Off script, most of them are babbling idiots. Bobby Diner-o is a very funny fellow, most especially when he is serious.

    Heh. Tupperware-based firearms. iGiggle. 😀

The move doesn’t surprise me since YT is owned by the Google. However, This is concerning; I wonder if they will nix my YT account…

  10. Ex-PH2 says:

Gee, I find it just amazing the YouSnooze objects to gun discussions, but they’ll run that video of the drunk humping the GMC truck right through the front grill in Portland.

I don’t get it. And Giggles? Seems like almost everywhere I go, they want to post ads for Wimmin of the Night, and it doesn’t matter how many times I click on ‘do not show again’, it returns after about a week. Maybe I should bitch at them?

  12. AW1Ed says:

    But wait there’s more.

Credit service shuts down payments on all gun purchases

    NY Post Link

Several gun-related businesses were suddenly — and without warning — disrupted in recent weeks when Intuit stopped processing credit card payments because sales were gun-related, The Post has learned.

Some of the payments stopped didn’t even involve firearms, but simply T-shirts and coffee mugs and gun safety classes, according to small business owners.

As a result, the businesses had to scramble to track down customers to get them pay their bills after Intuit credited back to customers’ accounts the purchases — even if the T-shirt was already shipped or the class already taken, one businessman told The Post.

Intuit owns TurboTax, if anyone is interested.

    • Ex-PH2 says:

I thought Intuit was a software company.

      What did I miss?

Oh, well, if they’re barring use of their credit cards for certain purchases such as guns, but not barring purchases of sex services, I would say it’s high time they had an unpleasant experience in the woodshed.

    • Ex-PH2 says:

Here we go, from the article:

‘Campbell said if he knew of Intuit’s stance, he would have simply moved back to his previous processor. “It’s fine, it’s capitalism, and if you don’t want to do business with us, we don’t want to do business with you,” he said.’

So Intuit, in its arrogance, dinged the sheriff for a work-related gun purchase, and Intuit doesn’t want the sheriff’s business.

      Well, then…. BOYCOTT!!!!

    • 5JC says:

I figure they will come up with alternatives like the drug dealers came up with Potcoin. In fact with cryptocurrency now a big thing it would likely be an ideal time to come with Guncoin.

  13. The Other Whitey says:

Youtube can’t be bothered to make sure that pedophile shit doesn’t get posted on YouTube Kids, which is why I can’t let my kids watch anything online anymore, but they’ll pat themselves on the back for censoring conservatives, gunsmiths, etc.

Hey, Youtube! Did you notice that the crazy bitch who shot up your offices was neither conservative, an NRA member, nor connected with Brownells? Nope, she was a crazy vegan new-age psycho who supported all things left of Lenin.

  14. Ex-PH2 says:

The only thing YouSnots is good for is watching George Carlin videos, cat videos, and trains passing each other in the afternoon – stuff like that.

Remember, Yousnobs is the group that canceled Don Shipley’s SV SEAL channel, based on the worthless complaints and bald-faced lies of one dead lousy plane owner.

If you decide you aren’t going to do business with someone based on your personal politics or belief system, fine. But then you may run out of customers. Remember that the Colorado baker’s Supreme Court decision was handed down in his favor, not because his rights were violated but because he was not given a fair hearing in the first place.

However, as the things that are prohibited by these arrogant snorbs are far less offensive in my view than sex ads and child porn and other such vile trash, the YouSnoobers and Giggles peeps aren’t really interested in supporting the First Amendment. No, not at all.

Their only interest lies in controlling who/what they allow to wander through their unhallowed halls.

May they find themselves very lonely and buried in the dust of their stupidity.
