Mattis: 2 Military bases to house illegal immigrants

| June 25, 2018 | 55 Comments

According to the Associated Press, Secretary of Defense James Mattis announced that two unnamed military bases are preparing temporary camps to house as many as 20,000 unaccompanied illegal immigrant children;

Speaking to reporters traveling with him to Asia on Sunday, Mattis said the military has housed people in the past, including Vietnamese fleeing their country as well as Americans needing shelter in the wake of natural disasters.

“We consider that to be a logistics function that’s quite appropriate” for the department, Mattis said.

The request for temporary shelter — amid a growing political battle over detained migrants — was made by the Department of Health and Human Services and accepted by the Defense Department.

HHS has assessed facilities on four military bases: Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas, plus three bases in Texas: Dyess Air Force Base, Goodfellow Air Force Base and Fort Bliss.

The Defense Department won’t operate the facilities, that function falls to the Department of of Health and Human Services from July until the end of this year.

And the leftards start anew with the FEMA/concentration camp bullshit in 3…2…1…

    • Club Manager, USA ret. says:

Breaking News: Two bases in Texas were selected. Put their asses on a C-119 for the return trip and no way Jose is going to come back if it means another return on a C-119. That’s why all those crazy ass parapoopers jumped out of them, to avoid the landings.

True story – When I used to be in the military and we trained at Ft Dix, NJ.

We stayed in barracks like rest of the folks training. They were ok and did the job.

Then the Clinton decided to import muslim Kosovo refugees to America.

They were going to be processed through Ft Dix and stay in the very same barracks.

Administration officials toured the barracks and declared them “unfit for human habitation.” The refugees needed much better accommodations…

Good enough for US servicemen but not good enough for refugees or illegals…?

    • NHSparky says:

Don’t laugh. If you’ve ever done stores loads onto a boat and looked at the grade of food we were given….

    • CPT11A says:

In a similar vein, I find it interesting when I see leftists freaking out about child illegals being given “tin foil sheets” as cover during detention.

Too much to expect some dork from New York to know what a space blanket is.

Obama was right: These people and us don’t live on the same planet.

    • MSG Eric says:

In 2005 at Ft Bragg my unit on our way to Iraq stayed in barracks there that were old and decrepit.

They were so bad that some had work orders posted on the wall for destruction of the building. Well, that didn’t happen for like another ten years. Why? Because it was a roof and space to house troops deploying.

One of those places that made you glad to be in Iraq or Afghanistan because your living area was 10x better, as was the food, than back in the US.

Someone actually wrote a letter to Army Times about the living conditions, which were all valid but of course it was refuted because the people in charge of it showed one barracks building that was acceptable, not the ones with dead rats, cockroaches, fire ants, etc., in them.

      • Mason says:

Ft McCoy, WI mid-2000’s there were several WWII-era buildings with rotting floors that were still in use. Even had signs on the door that said they weren’t suitable for human habitation.

They did have one hell of an E-club! Brand new at the time. Bowling, billiards, giant TVs all over, just fabulous.

    • Mason says:

Remember the stink Sheriff Joe got from putting convicted criminals in un-air-conditioned tents? In the desert? The horror!

I remember him saying these were the same tents our servicemen were living in in another desert. Men and women who volunteered to live like that.

  3. sj says:

Probably Air Force bases since they are the only ones with the high standards that illegals are worthy of.

  4. Claw says:

I vote for the PCMS (Pinon Canyon Manuever Site) in lovely southern Colorado.

Plenty of water available in the Purgatoire River for drinking/swimming, a real good rail head for loading/unloading the 40&8 cars, all day field trips searching for petrified dinosaur shit, what’s not bad about that?/smile

    • 5JC says:

Let it rain a drop and the maneuver damage is legend.

I say we build a huge facility right on the border and let the Government of Mexico know where to pick up their peeps. Every day open up a one way gate and tell everyone they are free to go home if they wish. If they stay there should be no complaint about the facilities.

    • Fyrfighter says:

Claw, two problems, first, it’s too far from the border, and might give them the impression we actually want them here, and second, IT’S MY DAMN STATE!!! We’ve got more than enough illegals, and other reliable democrat voters here already (thanks Californicate), we don’t need any more!

  5. 2/17 Air Cav says:

They got here. They can un-get here. This is the first step in adding more gov’t-dependents. Who pays for their food, water, electricity, medical care, clothes, schooling, video games, TVs, and radios? Who pays to clean their quarters, trash service, dishes and utensils? Who provides them with toys, dolls, and soccer balls? Who pays for the translators and the lawyers? Cripes. As I say, they got here. They can un-got here.

    • 2/17 Air Cav says:

To the bleeding hearts: You want ’em? You adopt ’em. Sponsor an illegal immigrant family, pending deportation proceeding. And no sex! We don’t want any new American citizens, thanks.

    • sj says:

I RV in Mexico a lot and love the colonial towns and people. I’d never dream of crossing illegally. I’m sure Mexican detention facilities are not pleasant.

      • 2/17 Air Cav says:

Since the world is playing the outraged game, I think it’s time to bill the UN for the illegals’ upkeep. We’ll let Algeria off the hook, since its method of dealing with illegals is to say, “There’s the Sahara. Start walking. And best of luck.”

        • AnotherPat says:

“Since the world is playing the outraged game, I think it’s time to bill the UN for the illegals’ upkeep.”…

          AMEN, AMEN, AMEN!!!!

          (UN=Useless Nations)

P.S. Send them to Auntie Maxine’s and Frozen Face Nancy’s mansions in CA…or any of Hollywood’s Leftist mansions..or HRC & WJC mansions…or BHO mansions..

        • MSG Eric says:

You can’t spell unnecessary without UN

        • Mason says:

Except we pay the UN. We wouldn’t even get back half our money as it gets sucked up by the bureaucracy and corruption.

I like the idea, but it’s like charging my wife for babysitting.

  6. 100E says:

It’s not out of the ordinary to use bases for this. I. along with my 3 kids, when Saigon was evacuated in April 75, were first housed at Clark, then a base in Guam, and finally Camp Chaffee, Arkansas. It was there that I ran into a E-7 from an old unit of mine who asked “what in the f–k are you doing in a refugee camp’, and fixed the mess.

  7. 2/17 Air Cav says:

This shit pisses me off no end for a thousand reasons, not the least of which is that we are a sovereign country, not just a huge land mass between Mexica and Canadia. And the laws that established who gets to live here and how many from which countries are not unilaterally established by the chief executive. Correct me if I’m wrong on this, but my understanding is that the so-called Dream Act was not passed by Congress. But someone had a pen and a phone and decided to play King.

  8. Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

What I find amusing is that their hero Obama ran a drone strike campaign that regularly killed civilians including children…and there wasn’t a word of complaint from any of these people.

According the US Immigration Bureau from 1892 – 1997 we deported 2.1 million people, Bush and Obama deported a total of almost 5 million between them with Obama deporting more than Bush…again not a lot of background noise while it was happening.

When one issue fails to kill Trump these assclowns find another one almost immediately…has anybody checked to see is Ms. Daniels is still alive? I’ve heard nothing from her and her shitbag attorney for weeks now.

  9. AnotherPat says:

And this is what is so disturbing:

“MS-13 Gang Members Posed As Minors Used Kids To Enter US Illegally”

    http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2018/06/22/9-times-ms-13-gang-members-posed-as-minors-used-kids-to-enter-u-s-illegally/

    • Sparks says:

      The headline says it all.

“President Trump has repeatedly asked the Republican-controlled Congress to close immigration loopholes in order to end the trafficking and smuggling of children across the border by illegal aliens who hope to be released into the interior of the United States.”

The Republican’t Controlled Congress is a disaster. If they were serving their conservative mandates, we would have a finished wall on the border and illegals would be one-way back to their shit holes south of the border.

  10. Club Manager, USA ret. says:

This is going to get awfully expensive. I suspect at Little Rock they will kick all out of the new large transient quarters into local hotels to make room. Don’t recall seeing any empty barracks. Why not just send them back across the border and get the drama over with. What bullshit with our money.

    • Poetrooper says:

Club, think maybe they meant Fort Chaffee where they brought all the Vietnamese? I haven’t been there in a few years but the last time I was, they still had a lot of those old wooden, WWII barracks.

  11. SFC D says:

There’s a vacant hotel for sale right next door to the Naco AZ Border Patrol Station. It’d be cheap to extend the station fence around it. Even has a pool, restaurant, and RV parking.

  12. David says:

Ft. Bliss vacant Gonna be a shock to.El Paso.

  13. Sparks says:

CANNOT get that fucking wall built fast enough for me. Hell I’ll help dig if they need it!

Keep them in the border region of Texas if they must. AND PLEASE GUARD THE SHIT OUT OF THEM! Sheriff Joe style too. Whatever they get until we can hopefully send them back, will be better than they had.

  14. Herbert J Messkit says:

To all those disloyal creeps in the media who are slandering our country as nazis and ICE as gestapo, I maintain that the safest moment in these refugees entire trip north was when the border patrol caught them.

  15. David says:

Saw video this morning of many of these poor pitiable babies getting off a bus. Looked to mostly be 15-17 pretty grown young men. Was on GMA as I was leaving.

  16. A Proud Infidel®™️ says:

Fuck the illegal aliens, IMHO the only thing we owe them is a swift deportation.

  17. AnotherPat says:

Latest news is that the two military bases chosen are Fort Bliss and Gooxfellow Air Force Base, both in Texas:

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/06/25/illegal-immigrant-detainees-will-be-housed-on-texas-military-bases-officials-say.html

  18. Mason says:

Instead of a Space Force, I think Trump should have Mattis work up an American Foreign Legion. Just like the FFL, we take anyone able to learn the language, pass some grueling training, and serve for the right to get citizenship.

We can leave out the kepis. Go with something more American like a cowboy hat.

  19. 2/17 Air Cav says:

Know what’s funny? The Left hates Trump so much that we never hear GW Bush blamed for anything anymore.

  20. SGT Fon says:

This is great news for both the Immigrant population and all those 18 yr old PVTs! now they can get married and expect it to last for longer then their first deployment and the Immigrants can actually become legal and become dependasauriouses, its a win win how ever you look at it!
