Lack of Credibility

| September 19, 2018

Last week, we brought to you the story about a nutty professor in Las Vegas shooting himself in the arm, leaving a bloody mess in a campus bathroom plus a $100 gift for the janitor to clean up the mess he’d made.

Bird (the perfessor) was subsequently arrested and charged with several felonies.

Last week, a deranged sociology professor at the College of Central Nevada shot himself in the arm in a campus bathroom because, he said, he wanted to protest the existence of the Trump administration. He was charged with a variety of felonies and has since been banned from the campus.

But according to an apology letter he wrote that was obtained by Blue Lives Matter, 69-year-old Mark Bird was motivated by more than just the deplorable 45th president. Bird was also upset by a variety of societal ills including, naturally, civilian ownership of AR-15 rifles.

I sincerely apologize for my behavior today. I was motivated by multiple reasons. A major reason is, derivative of the following October 20, 2017 CBS news story, the Earth had roughly 100 million malnutrition and pollution deaths in the past decade — and the Earth is on a course for at least another 100 million such deaths in the next decade. One hundred million deaths are more than all the military and civilian deaths of [World War II]. – Article

His statement of the total number of civilian and military deaths during WWII is invalid. He cites no resource or reliable backing for it, offers no proof of any kind, but simply throws it out in front of the audience and is expected to be credible.

The census of mortalities from both military action and diseases and starvation is much more reliable. World War II fatality statistics vary, with estimates of total deaths ranging from 50 million to more than 80 million. The higher figure of over 80 million includes deaths from war-related disease and famine. Civilians killed totaled 50 to 55 million, including 19 to 28 million from war-related disease and famine.  – source is Wiki.

He does not name his sources for the 100 million deaths from malnutrition and pollution, and to be believable, would be both expected and required to provide source material for his statement. Lliewise, his projection of a future 100 million plus deaths is a non sequitur, because he provides no research or references as support.

Frankly, with both his maladjusted behavior toward himself, and his lack of resource materials as backup, his credibility went right down the sewer when he shot himself.

Self-destruction is not how you convince people to get rid of guns, especially when you use one on yourself.

Understand that I do not believe for one tiny second that he is deranged, and neither do I believe he is credible as a source of statistics past and future forecasting. His assessment of how many people may or may not perish from the effects of both war and famine is, from what I’ve seen, based entirely on the misbegotten attempts of greedy politicians, greenies, climate science fabricators of pending doom, and willing government employees to falsify raw data records to suit the needs of a corrupt prior political administration that still has its fishhooks in the public’s psyche. You can specifically credit Algorebull for spreading dystopic propaganda to help support this Campaign of Disaster and create a New World Order.(NWO, aka Now Wank Off).

This addled man is a castoff, a useful idiot, someone who can be justifiably sacrificed and tossed aside in as little time as it took him to shoot himself in the arm. Be aware that people like this and that man who torched himself in NYC’s Central Park last summer don’t exist in isolation.

They only feel isolated. That is why they do these stupid things. It is also they reason for a lower and lower rating of credibility.

  1. David says:

Probably combining 7 million deaths annually from pollution per WHO with UNICEF’s figure of about 3.1 million deaths annually of children under 5 from starvation
to get about 10 million deaths annually, therefore over 10 years 100 million+. Given the increases in population we are experiencing, I would expect that projecting ahead another 100 million per decade is quite likely.
Per your figures cited, there were as many as 80,000,000 total deaths from both civilian and military causes in WWII, so his saying 100,0000,000 is higher is correct. Even though he is a flaming dipshit, his numbers make sense.

    • Ex-PH2 says:

I appreciate your response, but the UN’s use of statistics to promote an agenda is well-known.
This site indicates that death reportage methods are inconsistent:

In addition, the links posted on this site indicate clearly that UN’s reportage is biased:

Further, the death rates include children who are given no choice but to engage in warfare within their population group. Somalia currently has a population group of children under the age of 14 who are part of the group engaged in constant warfare. This kind of abuse has been going on in the Middle East since Kuwait was invaded. They aren’t dying of starvation as much as they are the victims of adult-generated warfare.

In addition, the UN is hidebound on the subject of climate change, refusing to acknowledge that there is no verifiable
over it by humans, and also refusing to acknowledge increased crop production, among other things. Children in Venezuela, for example, are not benefiting from the disastrous policies of Maduro and his cronies, never mind the rest of the population that refuses to support him. The same thing happened in Cambodia under the dictatorship of Pol Pot, and in China under Mao Tse-tung.

If anything, deaths by starvation are the result of poor governance and not much else.

For these reasons, I find it difficult to accept anything the UN says about statistics and/or their forecasts.

      • David says:

Never said they were unbiased on the subject of Israel which is what the link addresses. Interestingly, while you dismiss UNICEF as a source, below you say “Why not volunteer at a food pantry or go to work for the Peace Corps or Unicef?”

Agree that most deaths by starvation are preventable mismanagement. Examples could be Venezuela, Somalia, the Norks… funny how none of them are successfully capitalist.

      • Ex-PH2 says:

        Thanks for your response.

I didn’t include statistics on food production, but I do know that farming methods are far improved over what was available in the 1940s and 1950s, and that there is more cropland in production than ever. That includes large-scale greenhouse production, which goes on in Spain, Mexico and here in the USA.

This “perfesser’s” behavior was based mostly on his ignorance, not on real facts. I’m not blind to the mortality rates he refers to, but 10 million per year is a low number, considering the gross population numbers for Earth. It used to be considerably higher than that.

The projection is strictly speculation and should NOT be taken as anything else.

I do understand his objections to current statistics, but not his inappropriate response.

Whenever anyone quotes government statistics I am reminded that Nazi Germany reported that 100 % of the deaths at Dachau were from natural causes. Mostly heart failure.

  2. Grunt says:

Studies have shown that 100% of humans die at some point in their lifetime.

    We need to ban guns.

  3. OldCorpsTanker72 says:

How is using Wikipedia for a source of information any different from not using any source at all? Wiki articles are written by anyone who chooses to, and there is no requirement that they have even the foggiest idea of what they’re talking about.

  4. Mason says:

Doesn’t he know that everyone, everywhere who has ever eaten bread has died or will die? Ban bread! It’s deadly.

    • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

Bread hell, BAN DIHYDROGEN MONOXIDE!!! Not only is it added to every agricultural pesticide and herbicide before it’s applies, it’s also an added ingredient in bleaches, detergents and CHILDREN’S DRINKS!!! Dihydrogen Monoxide also causes death when inhaled into the lungs and also corrodes iron pipes so WHY would any sensible person want to ingest it? It’s also been found in aircraft vapor trails or “Chemtrails” as some call them. Dihydrogen Monoxide has also been found in EVERY one of the world’s polluted rivers AND it’s been found in every kind of cancer tumor ever removed.

  5. AW1Ed says:

    From Ex’s link:

Mark J. Bird, 69, was charged last month with discharging a gun within a prohibited structure, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and possessing a dangerous weapon on school property, court records show.

Plus a self-inflicted gunshot wound. I’m wondering what his “Plan B” was.

    • rgr769 says:

Plan B was to kill some students and then put a bullet in his brain pan. He is living proof of concept that progtardism is and incurable mental illness. He thought better of Plan B because he didn’t want to leave a larger mess for the janitor to clean up.

    • Ex-PH2 says:

Do people like this have even a clue that their behavior, which is grossly inappropriate, is repellent to the majority of us who see it happen?

This is one way to drive people who were waivering in politics to the opposite side, away from him, isn’t it?

    • desert says:

pph…maybe his next plan should be target practice, so he can aim better lol 😉

  6. Fyrfighter says:

Great post Ex.. the only part i’ll disagree with is where you say you don’t believe this loon is deranged… he is an avowed leftist, which i believe, by definition, make him deranged.. after all, liberalism (leftist, communist, etc)is a mental disorder!

    • Ex-PH2 says:

He knew exactly what he was doing, but failed to consider that there would be consequences to it, or knew there were but didn’t care, as the Nazis did in Europe but went ahead anyway because they were convinced by the upper echelons that the consequences did not matter.

The people who do these things, like that man in Central Park who set himself on fire in full view of other people, including children, do not think about or care about what it does to others to have to witness what they do.

That doesn’t make them ‘deranged’, because they are otherwise able to function normally.

Why not volunteer at a food pantry or go to work for the Peace Corps or Unicef? That would serve some useful purpose. Go work in Mother Teresa’s slums, taking care of the indigent.

Instead, in his attempt to protest something in a valid way, this idiot chose to do something completely disconnected from the subject that bothered him. Now he gets punished for it.

      Fine by me.

      • Thunderstixx says:

So the irony of the whole thing is that when organizations work to end poverty and hunger in the US or even worldwide, think Churches and Missionaries, they are vilified and protested for pushing their views on Christianity or even Jewish beliefs on the unfortunate souls that are starving, homeless or in complete poverty.
These morons continue to support government solutions that have never done very much good in the history of civilization.
Communism has never worked, ever, no matter how much money they have to start out with and however good the intentions are it turns into a place where people are forced to either leave or if they are unable to leave, they can eat grass, tree leaves, stray animals, rats and the nation as a whole has been losing weight.
These people are not deranged, they are completely without a moral compass, they have no firm beliefs except for what their minds have conjured up and believe anything that is the new norm by societal pressures to conform.
They are also extremely evil which is couched under the good intentions they espouse and are total control freaks expecting the world to conform to their beliefs and not the other way around.

  9. A Proud Infidel®™ says:

So I wonder if this nutjob “Perfesser” will ever have to face discipline for his idiocy or is he that securely tenured?

    • Ex-PH2 says:

No, he’s been fired by the college where he was teaching. Emeritus status is something like ‘on call’ for consulting or for teaching classes.

    • akpual says:

Hey now, The old perfesser was Casey. Lets not tarnish the memory of him.

  10. 5JC says:

Idiot. I am thinking an AD. Next he will jump on the bandwagon and accuse the SCOTUS nominee of trying to handle his jimmy.

  11. If this is a liberal College, then why was he fired. This is supposed to be a badge of honor. I’ll just flip this bird, the bird as in F u.

  12. Green Thumb says:

Maybe he should spend some time on the range and learn how to hit center mass.

    He obviously missed.

    • Ex-PH2 says:

Dammit, Green Thumb, you could warn us poor souls when you post something like that!
Spilling hot tea on one’s lap can be uncomfortable!

If the global warming crowd is so concerned about excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere dooming us all, they can be proactive and do something about it with the goal of obtaining measurable results.

Just stop exhaling and keep that carbon dioxide in. As a result, if it shows a measurable change then they have proved your point and we’ll remember them for that, perhaps at the next bonfire.

  14. 5th/77thFA says:

Hey perfesser, next time heat up your bath water with a plugged in toaster in the tub with you. It uses less kwhs than a conventional water heater. Will also keep you from stealing any more oxygen.
