Democrats Plan to Pursue Most Aggressive Gun-Control Legislation in Decades

Focus spurred by an incoming class of lawmakers with ‘F’ NRA ratings who campaigned on the issue.

Democrats say they will pass the most aggressive gun-control legislation in decades when they become the House majority in January, plans they renewed this week in the aftermath of a mass killing in a California bar.

Their efforts will be spurred by an incoming class of pro-gun-control lawmakers who scored big in Tuesday’s midterm elections, although any measure would likely meet stiff resistance in the GOP-controlled Senate.

Democrats ousted at least 15 House Republicans with “A” National Rifle Association ratings, while the candidates elected to replace them all scored an “F” NRA rating.

“This new majority is not going to be afraid of our shadow,” said Mike Thompson, a California Democrat who is chairman of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force. “We know that we’ve been elected to do a job, and we’re going to do it.”

Mr. Thompson, who represents a district in the Napa Valley north of San Francisco, said he plans to introduce legislation mandating universal background checks in the opening weeks of the new Congress.

The gun-control movement’s evolution was evident this week following news that a dozen people had been killed Thursday at a country music bar in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

Here come the ghouls, dancing in the blood of innocents. But this should surprise no one, and they’re a couple things the gun grabbers will have to overcome- the Senate and the President.

This is all show and bluster.

    Let me see: these clowns want to pass laws that violate the US Constitution and its amendments. Well, that should become some expensive and prolonged court time if somehow, it passes.

    After all, Illinois’s gun ownership rules are as strict as you can get and as the horse’s ass (mayor) of Deerfield found out, you can’t just do whatever you want to. Didn’t pass the sniff & scratch test, and was overturned.

    Stop panicking. The NRA has had tougher stuff than this bunch of toads to deal with before this.

      Okay, but it’s simple: the 2nd amendment provides the right to citizens to keep and bear arms.

      The states have the right to produce legislation that controls what individuals may or may not do in regard to owning arms. Most of them already do have all of that in place.

      This bunch of bimbos seem to want to override the US Constitution. Since every freaking state in the Union, no matter how tight-assed about it, has people who own guns and use them, obviously this hairball of a bimp is ignoring those simple facts and thinks she can do whatever she wants to.

            The only “protest” I could find was a bunch of musicians in Old Town in Chicago protesting the demise of the “old school” music haven they’ve been using for years on Rush Street, and they were all out on the street, entertaining passersby, and explaining their unhappiness at losing their home away from home.

    Liberal Seattle voters (they outnumber the rest of the state) gave Washington a steaming pile of new “common sense” gun regulations. Two examples out of many changes:

    If a gun is stolen from your home and used in a crime, YOU face a felony. You have a 5 day grace period to report the theft, so don’t go on vacation thinking your guns are ok locked up in a safe.
    Gun purchasers also waive HIPPA regulations so bureaucrats can examine health records.

    Just read that in the Borderline Bar & Grill shooting, there were six (6) police present during the shooting and unable to return fire. They were unarmed because they were following California gun regulations prohibiting anyone possessing guns in bars.

        In most states it is verboten to concealed carry in a bar, especially if one is going to consume alcohol. It is by statute not a regulation. For example in CA, if you have a CCW and get caught carrying in a bar, you will lose your CCW, according to a an acquaintance with a CCW. I imagine the same applies to off duty cops.

          There is no California law forbidding CCW in bars. If you have a CCW permit issued by the county sheriff or local police chief they set the standards, and some do forbid it while others just forbid the consumption of alcohol while CCW. Peace Officers are different, most department regulations forbid CCW and alcohol. Private property rights however allow bar owners to ban weapons, and a lot of bars have metal detectors at the door. Unless you are in on-duty status, you can’t get in-and yes there are times when you are on duty and actually can drink a beer.

          Do you see anything that remotely resembles guns or ammo? Why, no, of course not. Because being the clever fellow that you are, you bough the kit with hollow storage logs when building that lovely place to escape the crush and bustle of modern life, and every log in the wall hides boxes of ammo.

          Just make sure you rotate the supply to keep the powder lively and dry.

            I was trying to tease the peppers who get a -teensy- bit carried away on one or two items. A balance is needed. But ammo packs well and is fun to expend so…

            As to hideouts, there is now a small and vibrant industry geared to making stash furniture with hidden compartments for ready-to-hand firearms, hiding gun safes, and deep-concealment burglar-bafflers.

            You can get a “stash clock” at Cabelas for a pistol. I have seen some pretty cool wall mount “dressing mirrors” that hid a pair of rifles between wall studs, with no more than 1/2 inch projecting past the wall surface. also bookcases that hide enough weapons for a Q shop from a James Bond flick.

            Secret room bookcases are also a thing now.

            They work for hiding other valuables, of course.

Last December, ICE filed a detainer on the illegal alien but Middlesex county New Jersey officials ignored it. So, Luis Rodrigo Perez was released and ICE wasn’t notified. For some reason, Luis Rodrigo Perez disappeared. Today, he is again in custody. He’s in Missouri where he is charged with murdering three people.

    Of course we would all be safer if concealed carrying cops and citizens are around.
    Armed citizens cannot be herded onto the trains to the camps like unarmed subjects can.
    Armed citizens can’t be forced to accept millions of poor foreigners who won’t integrate into the larger society.
    They would band together to form local self defense militias if the police do nothing.
    What are unarmed subjects going to resist with?
    Just look at Mexico. The people are oppressed by both the criminals AND the police.
