Governor Ron DeSantis said on Friday afternoon that he has signed an executive order removing embattled Broward Sheriff Scott Israel from office.

Governor Ron DeSantis was at the Broward Sheriff’s Office headquarters where he delivered “a short statement saying he has suspended the Sheriff.” DeSantis was joined by parents of victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre.

Several of those parents thanked Governor DeSantis for “Keeping his campaign promise.”

According to Florida statute, the governor has the power to suspend the sheriff for actions such as “misfeasance” and “neglect of duty” and may fill the office by appointment for the period of suspension. The actual power to remove the sheriff from office is in the hands of the state Senate.

Coward County begins anew.

With a full retirement package and/or severance pay?

    • DaveP. says:

“Suspended”, not “Asked to Retire”. The actual wording says, “…demonstrated neglect of duty and incompetence…”.

The actual law says the suspension has to pass through the Florida Senate to become permanent, but I’m thinking that if it holds up Scotty Ears is gonna have to put up a GoFundMe for his retirement.

    • Mason says:

If Peterson qualified for a retirement, I’m sure Israel will too.

  2. The Other Whitey says:

Adios, motherfucker. Take your coward deputies with you.

  3. streetsweeper says:

    Via con di’os, m’fr.

  4. AW1Ed says:

    Oh fuck yes.

He’ll sue, of course. It ain’t over by a long shot, but this is a great first step.

    • NHSparky says:

In the words of Sheldon Cooper, “You can try.”

I would imagine/hope his conditions if employment comes with the understanding he can be removed at any time by the Florida Senate.

If they do spell that out in writing, he’s screwed.

  5. Hondo says:

    Channeling my inner Der Alte:

    Gut, Gouverneur. Sehr gut.

Let’s hope the Florida Senate has the guts to remove this guy from office. As the Vietnamese proverb puts it: “A house leaks from the roof down.”

  6. Graybeard says:

    Excellent.

Too bad the G’vner cannot have him flogged as well, but it’s a start.

  7. JTB says:

This Sheriff was a complete and utter shit heel…

  8. 2/17 Air Cav says:

Nearly all of the grounds for the suspension are based on the failure of deputies to take appropriate action before the shooting and during the shooting. The latter goes pointedly to the coward who shook and shivered when his moment came.

  9. Mr. Pete says:

Many thanks to our new governor. Great to see someone acting like an executive not like a politician.

  10. Club Manager, USA ret. says:

He waited until the investigating commission identified changes instituted by the sheriff as a factor to act. Did it the right way. Should also shit can any cowardly deputies.

  11. Mason says:

    Overdue and good riddance.

    Check out the pictures of this douche;

Governor is appointing Coral Springs Sergeant Gregory Tony, 40 to be the first African American sheriff in the county. By all accounts the Coral Springs cops were well trained and acted when the BCSO deputies didn’t. So Tony should be good for the department.

Good linkie mason. Tanks! Homeboy playing the politics for all it’s worth. I do believe demoncrat guvner woulda throwed this tool out too. Maybe not. The shitbaggery is strong in Florida demoncats.

We lost a damn fine local Sheriffs Deputy locally here this past Wed. Jimmy Johnny Vastakis, a Former Marine Viet of the Nam Vet, and a personal friend of mine. Jim quit school at 17 to join the Corps and volunteered for SE Asia. Retired from the Corps and did another retirement from the SO. A Marines Marine and Deputy’s Deputy. Jim would have charged into that school building with nothing but his bare hands to take out that POS. His obit is at http://www.fairhavenmacon.com. Stop by and pay some respects. Thanks!

    • 2/17 Air Cav says:

Yes, I recall the accounts of those officers going TO the danger zone once on scene while the Broward Cowards were practicing cover and concealment. Immobility can be contagious and it usually takes only one or two people to say, “Screw this, I’m going get that bastard” in order to overcame group paralysis.

      • Twist says:

Wasn’t one of Coral Springs cops off duty and had to borrow a weapon before he went in?

        • 5th/77th FA says:

Thanks for those posts and kind words men. I appreciate them. I attended 3 different services today, will go in Monday at the VA Cemetery for Jim. Thanks, to, for the posts on Jim’s obit site. Meant a lot to the family. Two of the guys that attended one of the other services with me, worked with Jim on a daily basis for `15 + years. He’ll be missed by us and the public. A true serve and protect guy.

So, the Coward Brounty Sheriff is finally history. Too bad no one can cancel the pensions of Israel and that bastard who hid behind an exterior wall while all the shooting took place.

  13. 26Limabeans says:

What ever happened to Hogg Job?
Why isn’t he the photo? /s

    • HMCS(FMF) ret says:

He’s going to Harvard… he doesn’t care about Scott Israel.

      • 2/17 Air Cav says:

Yeah, his applications were rejected by the west coast schools but Harvard offered him a seat and a scholarship. I have no idea what sort of scholarship. It sure isn’t a sports or academic one. They well likely assign him a tutor. but I will be shocked if he ever gets a degree. He’s gay, leftist, and has designs on grabbing all guns in private hands. I guess that’s enough for Harvard.

    • A Proud Infidel®™ says:

I’m willing to bet a case of Samuel Adams Beer that the moment David Hogg is judged to be no longer useful to the political left is the day that Hoggy-boy gets DUMPED by Hahhvahd and the left, any takers?

  14. HMCS(FMF) ret says:

    “It was politically motivated”…

BULLSHIT! Keeping that cocksucker in the position as Sheriff would be negligence.

Now they need to get rid of the school district superintendent.

    • rgr769 says:

You must be referring to the Chicongan 0bamaite who implemented the plan to fail to enforce school misconduct and criminal law against students of the darker complexions, so they don’t adversely impact the school district’s stats.

  15. A Proud Infidel®™️ says:

*POW*, right in the kisser, HA-HA!

  16. Poetrooper says:

But, but , but you can’t do this, Governor DeSantis; I mean, after all, the man has earned four, bright shiny stars on his collars…

  17. 11B-Mailclerk says:

Some folks here remember the giveaway paper matchbooks with advertising, that hawked all sorts of stuff.

We should send one to the former sheriff:

    “Be a welder! Go VoTech!”
