Fire Chief Applicant Forged Military Records

| January 12, 2019

According to a recent article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a Marietta Fire Chief applicant forged his military records.

Robert Kenneth Hume, of Campo, Calif., pleaded guilty to forgery and false representation of a veteran. He was also ordered to pay a $500 fine and sentenced as a first offender.

Hume claimed that during his time in the U.S. Army he was awarded medals he did not receive, including a Silver Star, Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He made the claim last April when he submitted an application to Marietta for the then-vacant fire chief position, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

He was sentenced to 10 years probation.  Since Hume is from California, his sentence was transferred to his home state.

    If the name sounds familiar to anyone else, we talked about him here;

Thank you, Mason. I’ll include that in the article.

Mason I think we may have crossed paths in the USAFR. I was a 3E9 ART at Charleston AFB from 1999 – 2014.

      • Mason says:

Ha, small world. I think indeed we did. I was the one who brought up going to tech school with “Bootsie” I think you called him?

        • 3E9 says:

Dammit yes. He was my troop for a short period of time. Small world indeed.

That was a great TDY. Even if it was 105 degrees in the shade at midnight and 100% humidity.

I’ve got some great stories from that trip. In particular the last night when I was sober driver. We absolutely destroyed that van. I’m sure it was never the same again.

I missed the earlier posts on this guy, but I’ve encountered him. He was not impressive, despite his best efforts. This is not surprising.

I might be off, but from what I can tell for my decs is that there is a number associated with it that I always thought was similar to a unique ID. That way, I could provide said number if I ever needed a replacement medal. I’ve looked at my Dad’s decs and it is the same there. So 1) am I wrong in that interpretation? And 2) if I am correct, would that not be a very easy way to prove whether or not the award was earned? Any help/feedback is appreciated

As discussed on a previous thread, the awarding of medals is not always an indication of good character.

However, the claiming of unearned “medals” is generally a good indication of no character.

Hey Robert Kenneth Hume, here’s a google hit for you; no extra charge. Take your lying embellishing valor stealing ass back to commiefornia. Georgia has enough shitbirds without importing more. My apologies to The Other Whitey and the other good folks of that area, all 9 of you.

I really don’t get these guys. Throw a Silver or Bronze Star on your 214 or resume and it’s easy to check. Someone is going to check.

I don’t want someone that stupid showing up to my house on fire, who knows what he would do
